We haven't been there But heard there is a new place near Canterbury. Not sure how hard that is to get to from T Wells?

Canterbury is too far for us .

We loved Hamshaws in Haywards Heath,that shut ,so we went to Abfabs/Kestrels and now that's gone .

I think others may be nervous about us visiting

We lI’ve bghs too and the nude spa is great fun with an option on going upstairs if we want to take things further (we always do). That’s a perfect mix for us

Yes, I like that separation too. I didn't mind how open Kestrels was in that regard, which might seem a bit contradictory, but I do find BGHS very refreshing in many ways. Was there again yesterday and absolutely loved it. Pity I had to leave at 5.30.

That may not be an option, the owners of Kestrels/AbFabs had a major falling out with the owners of Fab well before the club closed.

Yes, good point. I suspect any news about this on here will be from unofficial but respected/believable sources (like ex-staff etc.).

You have Silverleigh and Eureka right near you. Both vet guys for I'd and I'd say both have good security n are not overly swamped by single men. I recommend you try both of those.

Avoid Rios, far too many pushy rude blokes x

We are open from 11am to 12 midnight every 1st and 3rd Friday if anyone is interested. We have a massive 40 seater Jacuzzi and lots more.... on the Beds/cambs border near St. Neots. xxx

Well, after a couple of false starts over the last few months by pathetic attention seekers thinking they're being clever/funny, this is starting to look quite promising.

Hopefully we'll see something a little more 'official' (as much as that can be on here after the falling out) to confirm it's all happening, but I have my fingers crossed. Unfortunately I was never on the mailing list, so will keep a close eye here for any news on progress.

I have no idea if it's real - more me doing a bit of detective work! The pic on the fund raising page is from a site under offer less than 2 miles from the old club. I believe the owners tried to buy somewhere similar previously (or perhaps even this one) but it fell through, so either someone is using that to be a pain (and take our money!) or it sounds very real!

Interesting. So no sunbathing in summer, assuming it all goes through ok. I wonder if it will include a heated pool. Probably getting a bit ahead of myself.

Personally I think just asking for donations without any specific offering in return is going to be hard to raise the 50 grand. I’m sure they’d be better asking for set amounts for different levels of gift in return eg £100, £250, £500, £1000 etc. It would basically be membership/entrance in advance.

The government offers 25% over market value for domestic properties then buying this place, assuming that conversion and upkeep costs are met by membership/entrance and then when time comes it gets sold with 25% profit.

Could be a nice little earner .

This is just the equivalent of the fighting fund jar that was on reception. I'm sure if you wanted to contribute a sizeable amount there could be some form of negotiation as to what you get in return.

With so many skilled labourers who used to visit maybe they could barter work for membership/entrance.

I have no idea! My assumption was not and that there must be some rules and caveats, otherwise property investors would be charging in. Rates of £80k a year alone are payable on the property.

I know my first house was a compulsory purchase for something that later got cancelled. There are/were rules about the price they could then sell on the property - a result for me, as I got it a fair bit below market rate. But the price implied they bought much much lower than the "up to 25%".

Who knows. Or rather, could anyone advise us whether we should be buying property there!!

Definitely agree! I think done with a bit of thought, it could actually make them more money - a discount (third visit free, say) could incent people to come and come back again, and potentially spend more money in the bar. Or free soft drinks, given the high mark-up on soft drinks.

I like the idea of trades bartering too - I suspect they could benefit from a range of skill sets, like any small business could.

I too got the email and would love to see it reopen,reading through posts would be a shame if no sun garden but would love to have a decent club over this side of london again as 1.5 hours to Eurekas is no fun round M25.

With regards to property being within new airport boundarys im sure they would of taken that into consideration and you need to of owed properties for a set amount of time to qualify for any bonus

How frustrating for them. So close. Yet so far. I've missed abfab since it shut down. Used to be our Friday thing. More social than play but it was always nice to dress up go there bring our own drinks and socialise and play when we felt like it. Since it closed it's been a mission to go anywhere decent as the other clubs are too far away or too expensive or just not great clubs.

I do hope they work it out somehow as I miss going and the people there.

Let's hope that it can happen, I used to love taking off or landing at Heathrow trying to glimpse Kestrel, knowing that a haven existed so close. Good luck, I miss Kestrels a lot and there's nothing that has come to fill the void within 40 miles
