Disrespecting the club standards and members who make an effort week in week out isn't cool.

And most people would be the first to say why did you let him in!

You have every right to refuse entry to someone you think is dressed inappropriately. Coming on here and ridiculing him-with you the wording you used-is unprofessional.

It points out that you are willing to slag of anybody you come across that doesn't fit in with your standards and probably do it about lots of other customers that do get in your club for whatever reason you deem worthy.

I have no desire to be a potential target of your public ridicule so that's one customer you've lost.

I would imagine most clubs turn people away on occasion. Thankfully most don't feel the need to start a thread about. Rude and somewhat crass.

And truth be told completely puts me off a club where the owners (on thus thread at least) are unapologetically bitchy.

I really hope that admin don't delete it. The club have repeatedly reinforced their stance so people should see them for what they are. The continued bitchiness of theit comments leaves only one unanswered question - what do they say about their members behind their backs?

Probably most of us that saw her post as a vile display of unprofessionalism.

I hope the relevant authorities find out she’s allowing people to sleep in the club overnight for free.

I wonder if the gentleman that presented himself to the club last night was actually in need of help?

Probably better not to make an hypothesis about something that did or didn’t happen. The club comments are bad enough.

Just thinking out loud about the very odd attire the man presented himself in, but you are correct of course, I will avoid disparaging the club when she’s done a grand job of that herself.

Perhaps the wording regarding said gent are a little sarcastic, but it got everyone thinking about what is or isn't acceptable to wear to a club.

If I remember correctly, it was a special rock night and it is optional to wear appropriate rock clothing or the usual smart club attire.

Slippers are not acceptable. Baggy kneed jeans are not acceptable. Torn collared tea shirts are not acceptable.

Why would someone turn up at a club having not made an effort to look nice ?

Maybe you don't like the club owner telling you what this individual was wearing. I think she is using this as an example of how the club does have standards and if you don't have ID or are not dressed appropriately, you do not get in.

Who would read a thread that said...if you are not wearing smart clothes, ie no jogging bottoms or trainers you won't gain entry. It's headlines people ....headlines

Only that’s not what she posted. She was having a laugh at someone’s expense and I bet it carried on in the club too.

If he was in need of help, the club would of done it's best to get assistance for him. The owners and regulars are lovely people. The owner is a very caring lady. But that was not the case in this instance.

Last week they had a collection for the local food bank with over 200 items collected.

It didn't get me thinking about what is acceptable in a club; I, and I'm guessing, most people already know to look at dress code before going anywhere. This post was purely to take the piss out of a particular individual. For what reason, I don't know, but sounded like someone was looking for entertainment. A professional club owner would have posted a reminder on their profile and website; if they really thought they needed to. Every club has standards; some club owners are more professional than others in upholding them.

I had a feeling you might be personally involved with this person. I couldn't condone anyone speaking publicly about someone, in this manner, regardless of who they were.

As people have pointed out, it has given an insight into the ethos of the club and it's owners, for people to make a decision whether to attend.

It wasn't sarcastic, it was meant to be humiliating, we have an issue with her publicly mocking someone, not her telling us what the dress code is or isn't.

Would you appreciate someone publicly mocking you on these forums?

I am not connected with the person who wrote the post. I attend the club regularly, but don't work there. I am just trying to add a little perspective, knowing the club owner, I know she would not be slagging anyone off, just bemused as what someone thought was acceptable to wear.

I could now just imagine going and then reading some slagging off of me on here and it being made "OK" because I wasn't named by the poster.

It's appalling behaviour and I might not be the only person to feel like this but I may be the only one brave enough to say it...

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

The person who first posted in the thread will have OP next to any post they make in that particular thread.

The original post in this thread has probably done lots of damage to the creditability of the club. The OP and one other gentleman continually post suggesting the club as suitable for those staying in Birmingham City Centre when it`s a good 40 mile ride each way which smacks of desperation to me. I had thought about visiting this club, but it`s not my type of club and this one post starting this thread has made up my mind completely about not going!

I too think it was totally unprofessional of the OP to publicly mock the way that this gentleman was dressed.

However, for those questioning whether this man needed help or not, is very judgmental. What do you mean by help? Do you assume he is vulnerable because of the way he was dressed?

I haven’t assumed anything, I was curious about the clothing he was described as wearing due to the severity of the weather. Open toed slippers wouldn’t be common for anybody to wear in such situations.

If this were anywhere near the case or the intention then the post would have read something like .... dear all, following an incident last night then we feel the need to stress the importance of our dress code for the enjoyment of all our guests ... blah blah.

All I inferred from it was “this club owner makes rude remarks about people that have attempted to go to the club”.

I’m sure clubs turn people away often. I’ve seen it. They don’t need to post it.

Been watching this all morning and just going to stick my head into the firing line a little bit.

Open toed slippers

Baggy jeans

Ripped collar t shirt.

Now firstly, agreement in the posts that say these is no reason to ridicule said gentleman for his dress on the night.

Thats unprofessional for a club owner/manager at any location.

But right to refuse entry is at the owners discretion based on club standards, dress code and policy.

Now 2ndly.

It's Saturday night, you're the owner of a vanilla nightclub, your popular to ALL clubbers.

Open toed slippers

Baggy jeans

Ripped collar t shirt.

Are you letting him in?

This topical debate works both ways in swinging clubs and regular night clubs.

This topical debate works both ways in swinging clubs and regular night clubs."

The debate isn't about whether he should be allowed in. It's about writing a thread about him on a swinging site. He was directly spoken to by the OP by saying you're not getting in mate (or words to that effect). This wasn't an information post regarding dress code at their event-if it was they would have informed us of the dress code- it was a pop at him and his clothing. I would be surprised if any reputable club let someone in wearing jeans and slippers.

This excerpt made it personal, and ridicule: . . . ain't happening and gobsmacked that you thought you were dressed to party lmao !!!

Sorry mate.

The language used, in itself, is a poor show.

So now I understand it was a rock night. Perhaps a leather jacket, ripped tee and jeans he thought suitable? I have a funky ripped rock tee, faux leather jacket and jeans (although I'd have chosen ripped, as he chose baggy).

I'm not sure as to what he thought to his choice of footwear.

Perhaps he thought his attire would be satisfactory?

We'll never know. Which ever way, I echo others, it wasn't very professional to slate on here.

Wow, what seemed to be a fairly light hearted look into acceptable dress code and particularly the dress code of the unnamed gentleman who turned up at this club, which frankly is pretty funny, turned into a rhetoric about professionalism blah blah....

"Perhaps the wording regarding said gent are a little sarcastic, but it got everyone thinking about what is or isn't acceptable to wear to a club.

It's headlines people ....headlines "

So it's a rock night where I could have got turned away for dressing like o was going to a rock night?

You have every right to refuse entry to someone you think is dressed inappropriately. Coming on here and ridiculing him-with you the wording you used-is unprofessional. "

"The OP is online and posting in other threads but choosing to ignore this one.

I would like to invite her to reply to the comments here but she has blocked me. me to

Probably most of us that saw her post as a vile display of unprofessionalism.

I hope the relevant authorities find out she’s allowing people to sleep in the club overnight for free.

I wonder if the gentleman that presented himself to the club last night was actually in need of help?

That's a good question. "

He may not actually have known what kind of club it was; what if some of his work colleagues had ‘pranked’ him into turning up there? I bet it wouldn’t be the first time

The OP did not make it personal because the individual was not named. This is like the BBC doing a piece about obesity and showing video of fat people walking along the street without showing their faces.

The individual is not named, but he will know it was him, it is hurtful. Why start a thread about it, it is mocking the guy. I would imagine people are nervous about going to this club now, in case the OP is going to make fun of them

Perhaps people would like to start a Just Giving page to raise funds to send him to the nearest club that allows people in wearing open toed furry sandals and baggy kneeded jeans. Any clubs out there who fit this requirement please feel free to speak up.
