Was at a club last night, playing in the couples area.

Noticed a bright light keep hitting us, looked round and there was a couple, both of them phone in hand appearing to be recording.

Both of the flashes was lit up constantly.

Told members of staff who had a word with them.

Am I wrong for thinking they should have been kicked out and banned?

No you are not wrong. They should have been kicked out definitely, after being made to erase whatever they had filmed xxx

DEFINITELY kicked out and banned. There's a difference between checking for baby sitters calling at reception where the staff are aware and recording in playrooms!!! Wtf?!

We haven’t been going to clubs long (just under a year) it’s kinda put us off.

In all the years of going clubs Iv never seen a picture posted or even seen or been shown one. With technology these days if someone’s going to take a pic then you wouldn’t even know about it. It’s one of these story’s that constantly pops up on here. Even when Mp Sheridan was all over the press. Nothing was taken. Or published.

It seems a story non club goers or fab warriors like to comment on a lot.

If you want to take a pic then I’d be flattered someone even tried. Swinging is hardly uxceptsble theses days. My kids even go to clubs (21 daughter 24 son. 28 son )

Kind of missing the point, you dont care. Great. Others do and it’s in unacceptable as is any unwanted touching or other imposition in a club. These are private members clubs with rules. If the rules are broken then they should absolutly be banned. The people being filmed should be the only opinion taken into account.

Quite agree with the above two comments. ...... all I’m saying is Iv never seen pics posted anywhere from a member of the public .... we can hypotheses about lots of stuff that can happen. I worry about a plane crashing into a club. And bring caught in my shinny gold lame pants. But the reality is it won’t happen.

Totally unacceptable. I feel that it is very sad and disrespectful that someone needs to take pics or vids of someone else in a club.

Even if it was allowed, I'm sure the ettiquette would be to ask first.

I have had to report this myself and the guy was kicked out.

Not posted anywhere, Are you crazy, they are all over the web! Look on XHamster for a start.

It's not only mobile phones you have to worry about, HD cameras are built into wristwatches, pens, god knows what nowadays.

I wonder if the couple where reporters,

a single guy, I can see, A couple, worrying.

Kinda valid reason, but using lights on phones to look and not telling everyone in the couples room beforehand... definitely would make us uncomfortable!

Going and finding a torch rather than using phones.

Lots of solutions... but allowing phones out for any reason inside a club (other than reception) is such a privacy no-no, it's breathtaking that it was sanctioned!

Totally not acceptable. In my local club , if someone gets a phone out of there pocket, they are firmly and immediately reminded of the rules of no phones except in the reception area.

We would absolutely not be OK with that. I do wonder if someone does blatantly start taking pics or filming, what legal action can the club take?

Personally I'd want the phones confiscated and not returned until the photos are shown to be deleted but even then with cloud storage standard on most new phones that's no guarantee that the footage is gone. But I doubt the clubs could legally do that. Police would probably have to be involved and I imagine most clubs would shy away from that due to the effect it would have on their reputation.

Wouldn’t be fair on the club plus any club your thinking of visiting, there’s probably plenty of reviews so you can weigh up your own thoughts before you visit.

Seeing as we have been left a club review here is a response to the alleged incident...

A concern was raised on Saturday Night regarding a couple allegedly filming in our Couples room. Our security entered the room and spoke to the couple in question. They were using their torches on their phones to find something they had lost earlier (a sentimental piece of jewellery). The couple were asked if they had been filming and were asked if they would show the security guard their phones to check whether recordings had taken place. They were very forthcoming in doing this and there were no recordings, videos or photos on the phone. The couple were given a warning about having their phones out and reminded of the rules regarding mobile phones in the club. We as a club feel this was a genuine mistake in the use of a phone in a sheer panic to look for something that was misplaced.

Surely you can see our cause for concern? no one came and spoke to us to let us know you found nothing. So we had been left wondering.

The couple had left the couples room and was heading towards the door by the time security got to them,

I would have liked to check the phones myself given the chance which under the circumstances wouldn’t have been a massive ask, it would have put our minds at ease a little.

We totally understand how you feel and we have tried to explain the situation to you. We are sorry that you feel how you do but we feel that every step was taken to ensure your privacy was kept.

We employ licensed SIA officers at the club and we feel they dealt with the incident in the correct manner. We will however speak to them in regards to why they did not advise you as to their findings on the night.

Instant removal - barred after phone checked for images. Cupids remain a dress down club as a measure to give fewer places to “hide” mobile phones or other devices.

From a privacy point of view the phone should have been confiscated. As the images exist as data and deleting the images doesn't actually erase that data (just makes it unavailable to view on the phone). It can be undeleted (made available again), easily!

At least that way it would ensure no-one brings a phone into a club.

Not really.. Phones can upload videos via live stream to cloud storage for example. Same with photos, mine is set to automatically upload to my Dropbox account. Purely for reason that if I ever lose or damage my phone, my photos are safe as is all my contact data

Townhouse ask all guests to leave phones in their lockers. It’s made clear on any tour for a newbie & it’s a zero tolerance policy. Mobiles can be used in reception only!

I’d have stopped play immmediately and oversaw them delete it. This is completely unacceptable and if you didn’t personally check you have no idea what they have. I was once at a swingers social and some bloke started recording panning round getting everyone’s face in. I stopped him and he admitted he was dhoing to Facebook live

I’ve seen this at a club we haven’t returned to (d*unk lady recording on phone). Not good at all.

I have a bit of a iphone addiction so I leave it in the car or if we are cabbing it to the club I put it in the locker so resist temptation to use phone. It’s one of the basic rules of clubs- mobiles not allowed (except reception). Also quite nice to have an evening without checking WhatsApp!

The Vanilla Alternative police this very very well.

Where did I say I was happy with it. .... I think it’s wrong and disrespectfully but trying to say it’s 99% of the time newbies that dint know the rules and don’t understand people’s Paranoia

The very same people that are totally aborent about bareback as it’s unsafe yet you see them giving oral without protection ..... and look horrified when I say the most common way of getting gonarrhea is though unprotected oral

You shouldn’t bring phones into a club full stop. But not everyone is on fab or read the signs in most clubs

After reading this thread my mind is set to NEVER visit one of these types of establishments! By avoiding them we can kept ourselves private and not have the risk of being filmed without our permission. Thank you OP for bringing this to my attention.

Having been to said club and knowing where the couples room is, they literally had to walk past the bar to get to the lockers, I know panic can set in when you lose something but instead of dashing off to the lockers they should have just done a quick left and informed a member of staff that would have dealt with it quicker, the management are brilliant at this club from what I can tell and would have done something ASAP. It does beg the question for them not to decide to ask for help and whip there torches on, did they already have them on their persons? Because you would have asked reception!! Because whatever they lost can’t have been that embarrassing given the place they were in lol.

You realise that the person you’re having a private meet with can film it without your knowledge? Just leave the laptop open in the bedroom with the webcam positioned somewhere.

I’ve been to many clubs hundreds of times. I’ve been in clubs that are really super strict about phones and I’ve been in clubs that are lax about phones. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone filming or taking pics of anyone else. If it was done convertly, in the public areas, then. I don’t think something has ever come of it. But like I said, people could film covertly in their home or hotel room.

Most clubs I’ve been to have private rooms anyway, so if you want complete privacy, then you lock yourselves in there.
