Possible new club......

We were wondering if there would be a high interest in a swingers club to be opened in York? And what kind of rooms would you like to see in a new club? And anything that would or wouldn't like to see?

I'd investigate with the local council first regarding licences first. Some are very funny about sex clubs, especially in areas where they'd know there would be a lot of local opposition. As for facilities, pool, jacuzzi, orgy room. Viewing room. Couples / ladies only. Men only rooms for bi nights. Dark room. Glory holes. Dungeon etc etc. Need to cater for different tastes / events. Greedy girl nights. Bi / TV nights. Fetish / BDSM. Couples only and "normal" nights. Party / theme nights.

Something with a large bar / social area is always good. That then gives you flexibility to use it for different events or just for socialising.

A wet area to house a large hot tub, shower, steam room and or sauna would also attract our attention.

A mix of orgy and private rooms as well as a bdsm themed room should then suit most folks. The club doesn't have to be massive to be a success, so long as it has a variety of play and social spaces

Yeah we're not planning to go massive but have a property big enough to beable to extend if/when needed we don't want to go massive first and not be able to afford to finish before opening.

Best advice... speak to other club owners

They can inform you of costs and what you need licencing etc

"Best advice... speak to other club owners

This is great advice

I'm pretty sure I've seen threads before where people are asking for info on opening a new club and existing club owners have offered lots of advice regarding what licenses you need, set up costs etc.

We would be definitely interested in coming along if you went ahead opening a club in York x

Stopping over is definitely a benefit to a lot of people as well .

So if you offer a crash over night ,and charge a small fee it saves people a fortune which helps them afford more visits x

One thing we’d like from a club is a room with a two way mirror or video feed to another room. I (tony) like the idea of being watch but I don’t want somebody three foot away bashing one out and putting me off my stroke...

My biggest pet hate with clubs is lighting. Far too many rooms underlit to the point you can’t see faces properly. That’s what dark rooms are for.

Otherwise a nice mix of social - non play areas, open play areas and separate lockable rooms.

Good luck

Also think carefully about the workload it will put on you personally.

Visiting clubs is great fun of course. Running one means you will spend all your weekends doing all the other stuff - getting rooms clean before AND after, dealing with arguing people, throwing people out when necessary.

It won't all be glamour and fun.

Key to any new business is being following your dream but also being brutally honest with yourselves, about the negatives and positives.

Consider blending in. I went too see we're the townhouse was few months ago, after three ride's up n down the main road found it looks like a unused pub from the outside same with infusion looks like a old garage type place. And having somewhere that allows swinger's too stop over in same place. Even if set nights, a local hotel wouldn't mind the extra income. Good luck

That's the plan to look at having somewhere that doesn't stand out aka no big sign lol

And was considering having a word with a local b&b getting decent rates so there's always somewhere to stay

From a selfish point of view it’s a lot easier getting to the 2 clubs in Leeds or LC in Sheffield than it is York. Also again I’m selfishly hoping the North East doesn’t over do it in clubs like the North west where the majority are quiet because of competition. That said I’d give it a go

Confused why it matters to the point where you've started to verge on personal? It's not your investment - either time searching and filling in forms or money. If they want to waste their time, in your eyes, what's it to you? Do you have some sort of stake in a club that would lose out on business?

"We were wondering if there would be a high interest in a swingers club to be opened in York? And what kind of rooms would you like to see in a new club? And anything that would or wouldn't like to see?"

Yes, we would be interested.

We particularly like clubs to have a warm sexy boudoir feel.

A selection of rooms, including lockable, open and ones that allow viewing from outside.

A bar area with music and dance space, plus a quieter social area.

Good toilets and changing areas, with generous sized lockers.

Best of luck. Ignore the negativity.

Actually... my perfect club would be very similar to La Chambre. With better changing and toilet facilities.

LC manages to get a lot into a relatively small building, and a Dungeon in the cellar is just "right".

Any club in York would need ;

Ample car parking

Stop overs at reasonable rates

Air con

Adjustable lighting (Quest is too bright and hot)

The usual rooms, private rooms and dungeon

If you can get the council to agree, I’m sure it would be a threat venue

We would support you x

Why not fight Tyson Furry or AJ ? it would be an easier win than taking on York council.

Hey you may even beat all three.(someone will)

As for what would I want from a club in York, I'd like one like Chameleons,Cupids,or Quest.

All three are 1st division clubs who have reinvested their profits wisely,

"A well run club is a happy club"

And by the way I Have no connection to any club.

So like any good business take the best ideas from each of your favorite clubs and roll them into one.(i.e your club).

As a businessman you will of course know the best club in the country!!

Yes correct the one that makes the most MONEY.

Don't talk it, get on with it,

make lots of money and give us another 1st division club.

I wish you all the best with your venture.

Toilets. Two club facilities I haven’t liked in particular.

The old Tease 2 that only had toilets inside play rooms.

Va that has mixed communal toilets.

Much nicer to have separate Male / female in my opinion.

Whilst I have been to a lot of clubs about 12/13 clubs over the years in the uk

I would say planning is key.

Then funding

I would say at a guess it’s unlikely that you will get permission for inside the city walls. So then your looking at the outside of York.

I would say that you would need maybe a semi-industrial area away from schools. This could allow you to have parking, and keep the fellow residents happy

Personally York is to far for me, and would rather go to either Manchester or Birmingham. I am sure people would go to York but not for me - good luck

Hyperthetically speaking, if I was wanting to do something very public like you’re proposing, I’d rise above other people’s negativity and not react with negative / silly comments like this and your status update. Putting yourself forward publically is going to give you a lot of attention, so if you have got meetings with a council, do you really think portraying yourself in this fashion is going to stand you in good stead?

They said Hull wouldn't get a club either but 'the reem team' stuck at it and managed to open their Hu9 club here in November and it has been quite successful even at that time of year. You should pay it a visit, the car-park is spot on and the club is just the right size plus close enough to town.

Best of luck to you and we hope to be visiting a new club in York soon

Have a couples changing room, the last few times we’ve been to a club which is new to us they’ve had separate male and female changing rooms. It can put us off going again as we only take one bag with our change of clothes in, if I want to wear a basque he can’t help me lace it up and then when one of us needs something from the locker the other one has to go get it.

We have been to 3 clubs. Pandora’s & Quest in Leeds and Townhouse in Liverpool (well Birkenhead). We’re fairly new to the scene but I am a interior/experience designer and have to say there’s way more that goes into it than a ‘good social space and big play rooms.’

The three clubs we have been to are all very different. They all do things their own way and all have idiosyncrasies that make them unique. They all have something better and something worse than the others. For example Pandora’s social area is too big and difficult to maintain any intimacy but upstairs is a maze of great playrooms. Quest is small but really well done and very clean and well furbished. But lacks space and play rooms. Townhouse has an amazing atmosphere and some great play rooms but the wet area is a bit remote and feels a bit disconnected (not their fault - that’s the nature of the building) but their changing area isn’t nearly as good as the other two.. etc etc.

But what makes them is the experience the owners bring. All have amazing staffing, and rules which are enforced for enjoyment. Mandatory etiquette is all the same but again they all have little differences that make them well, them.

Even with my limited visits, I have in my head the perfect swinging club and I would love to design it. Just need a client with big pockets and loose purse strings.
