"Still going but very much spruced up since the 1980`s when I first went with the old boy on the entrance who would only speak the bare minimum! The Carnival in Old Compton Street was a similar sort of establishment with simply straight striptease. Long before widespread lap-dancing became the norm. I loved both venues and would go to the Carnival, see two or three rotations of strippers, then off to the Sunset, perhaps going into the sex shops and book shops in between! There was also a good book shop on Charing Cross Road which I would always visit on my walk back to a convenient tube station for Waterloo and the journey home! There was also another venue just off Brewer Street (St Martin`s Court?) which was two cinemas and striptease next door. Was it formally Paul Raymond`s Revue Bar? " Walkers Court, not St. Martins Court which now I seem to think is where the Sunset Strip was originally. | |||
