Public or private guest lists?

I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions on public vs private guest lists. Is it a good idea to be able to see who is planning on going? Do you want everyone knowing where you are going? What if large amount of people generally just turn up on the night? I would appreciate everyone's input.

It depends on the event. Some events lend themselves to public guestlists, others absolutely don't!

If you publish a list then you need to give people the option of remaining private and you need to be responsible with your list and ensure that it's accurate by getting confirmations, triple checking etc...

Some clubs don't do lists for various reasons, ie privacy, to stop people getting hounded, accuracy (see above), too much work to maintain. But we find that posting an accurate list helps some events and gets the excitement going. We always work by the rule that around 2/3 of the list will turn up.

So, in short, I like lists for certain events xx

Cupids tend to use "forums" as a form of guest list, giving us control for ratio's between cpls & singles etc. Forums also allow people attending parties / events to contact & make connections prior to an event. Finally where people drop out for various reasons they can tell us & others via the forum. Therefore "drop outs" are visible & " lists" are transparent to guests. Cupids "where the customer comes first"

Guest lists often become no more than a fantasy list Massive guest list ..... few attendees. Small guest list ....and it's rammed. You can never say with the fab warriors on here

We agree with the lady above, we find posting a list on our profile helps many guests to decide if they wish to attend our events. Also we normally experience that on average, 92% of our published list attend.

So lists for our parties and events work for us and our guests.

I have found both ways work just find what works for you,listen to your guests

Most parties/clubs promoted through fab,people see your advertising,see verifications you leave and recieve,see forum threads or when you posted,people talk to friends word of mouth is a huge factor,see statuses and meets put up,people read and think that sounds good then enquire about coming

When I first did this party couple of years ago,I had the guestlist on my profile (people who preferred not to be on it,they asked me not to write there name down) it worked

The relaunch recently I kept the list private,as some asked for it,that worked too,there was an element of surprise/mystery as to who was attending on the night

As a guest myself at times to other clubs/parties,most don't have open lists,I've never been disappointed so far

Public guest lists are a nightmare for an organiser.

You get people saying "if they are going we aren't" etc.

Plus, the option of people being able to "hide" from the list if they want privacy makes a mockery of having a list at all.

That's where the club/host's have to be professional,in the way they handle these situations

There are good and bad points about both open/private guestlists

Sorry for the delay, we've been at the Townhouse Trek.

We find that lists work better for us on events where ratios are really important, i.e. our MILF Monday parties, which have a strict 3:1 ratio and the public lists encourage people to attend and it helps me manage the ratio. It's a pain in the ass, as it means me double checking attendees in a lot of cases but that list tends to be pretty accurate for my ratio. I know some of our private hirers like to publish lists for the likes of couples parties as a lot of our couples like to see what is in store for them and they hook up on here prior to the night.

Lists don't work on our main Saturday party nights at all or our Wednesday nights as ratios aren't important and they are VERY unpredictable events for the most part.

Lists really are a personal preference type of thing and parties don't tend to run any better when they have lists, it's just a tool for management of numbers and to gather interest. However, I know other clubs run equally well without them.
