The club is a lovely modern club with all the facilities it needs and wonderful staff. But I'm wondering if there's away to relax what Id is needed to get a membership and have a bar Or maybe go back to the good old days of having no bar and bring your own booze. Maybe have more mixed evenings rather than stating who and when can go.

I would like no split days just one long one as some people can't get to your club in afternoon due to work commitments.and also membership I think giving details about yourself might put people off due to having a licenced bar thus having to give details why not have people bring there own drinks like it used to be in the old club.membership puts people off I think.

You know I think the club facilities are amazing, and how much I think of you, the daves and shereen, but in my honest opinion im scared this club is going to fail because of a few things, one being the id requirement, im not against having to prove who I am, its having my details stored I do not like, I also do not like the segregation, no women on some days, of course it makes no odds to me personally, as we never visit those times anyway, but I can see via other forum discussions this hasnt gone down well with others, the other thing that may be putting people off ( well I actually know it has) is the cost of membership on top of a night in there, means for instance is was 35 quid to get in on opening party for a couple, that on top of a licenced bar means its not a economic night out, and other clubs offer the same type of night for nearly half that, I know your hands are tied with regards to id, im just wondering if licencing the club was really worth it?

Well it could be an option. It would have the club open to everyone.maybe I need to Re-launch the club without the licence and need for ID. Just book people in like we did at the old club no bar and let people bring there own drink with them I know if people look at the club website in clubs on fab they will all see what a great club it is please can people say what they think chris connectionlococlub

Definitely an option. More people would be happier if the new club was based on similar lines to the old one. This new club is more up to date and luxurious than the other with great potential to be the best in the west.

Okay Chris, my opinion; I like you, you a good guy, we met a few weeks ago. But these are my thoughts.

Firstly, if you are going to change the ID requirements with regards to entry to the club sometime in the near future, .i.e. remove the requirement to provide ID; then you really should return all photocopied ID copies of members who have already joined. For their peace of mind really; as it’s not really fair for the hundred or so people/members who have already joined and so provided ID; so to have their sensitive data stored at the clubs premises; while others gain entry to the club without the requirement to provide sufficient ID.

Secondly, again if you are going to change membership fees at anytime in the future; then any members who have already joined and paid the current membership fees should be refunded the difference; so the amount in which they are out of pocket; so old membership fees would be aligned to new ones; so daytime or evening, .i.e. membership/fee changes.

The club looks fantastic; I’ve looked around it. The decor is fantastic, the layout is great, and it’s location is very central to the town centre and all the very cheap to stay in guest houses in Blackpool. It really should provide a great night out. It will be a success I hope; local business is good for Blackpool. It might just take a little time to get busy.

Now the ID requirements are no different to Townhouse in Birkenhead; yet Townhouse is very successful, it’s a great club. Jim runs a tight ship, which works extremely well. It’s why I think membership is a good thing, as it works well for Townhouse and similar clubs around the country (Chameleons for example). It provides a very secure setting for couples and singles alike. So providing ID can’t be that much of a problem. Again Townhouse has a licensed bar, which also works well. No need to carry bags of booze around in the evening; the drinks are good value, it’s a great club. You sit there enjoying a drink or two, makes the whole ambiance of the club seem more like a club rather than a bring your own booze private party? So is it the licensed bar which is a problem?

The club Loco Connections is in Blackpool; so competing with a very well established club, .i.e. Infusions. I like Infusions, there’s a nice ambiance to the place. But both clubs should be able to survive in a place like Blackpool surely.

Firstly the ID requirements. For any organised events in the day like a greedy girls or a MILF afternoon; where a guest list is to be compiled of ladies and gents attending the unique event. So numbers are roughly known prior to the event starting; then membership could be obtained by all single guys for entry to the club and these types events. I’m a single guy, and I have no problem with providing ID should I want to attend an event where there are a group of scantily clad ladies wanting sex. It provides security to the event and for the ladies in question. If you want to open the licensed bar, then obviously everyone in attendance to these events will have to have membership. But the licensed bar and daytime/event membership could restrict couples and ladies in attendance due to their own privacy issues, .i.e providing ID or not wanting to leave a paper trail with regards to attending such an event.

Where in the day there is no event, just the normal club; just a mixed vibe of men, women, TV’s and TS’s; then there could be a no membership required for entry up until 8pm at night. But the licensed bar stays closed in the day up until 8pm at night; no licensed bar in the day, no membership required. Only a bring your own booze policy up until 8pm at night. After 8pm, you can have a licensed bar open; but also a bring your own booze policy if that’s what people want to do. Cost can play a big factor here.

Events could do well a couple of times a month in the day or in the evening; but on certain dates mainly due to cost and competing with other clubs in the North West. All other times in the day, the club could be open from say midday till 8pm, Wednesday to Sunday; no membership required for entry; ten pounds entry fee for men and couples, fives pounds entry fee for ladies, TV’s and TS’s. No licensed bar, but a bring your own booze policy if required. Any special events in the day, all single guys require membership. Single girls, couples do not need membership to attend such events, no licensed bar. All other times where there is no event in the day up until 8pm; a walk in no membership policy, no licensed bar. Ten pounds single guys, ten pounds couples, five pounds single girls, five pounds TV’s, TS’s.

Night time entry could be a little different. Again you could hold special events at night a couple of times a month. But isolating certain groups or genders on certain evenings will restrict numbers on those evenings. Some people cannot accommodate a night out around gender restrictions on certain evenings or days, it could be more flexible? Wednesday to Sunday evenings, everyone is welcome. Everyone requires membership for entry to the club in the evening; as the licensed bar is open; but no restrictions on who gains entry on certain evenings. Maybe on a Friday and Saturday evening, if single guy numbers require control, then use a text system. Where the single guy texts the club, the club replies with a text for that unique evening. So he is guaranteed entry using that unique text in his possession; and the club then knows the number of single guys for that specific evening. Costs in the evening could reflect gender type. Single girls every night of the week; 8pm till close, five pounds entry fee. Couples Wednesday to Sunday evening’s fifteen pounds entry fee. Single guys Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings ten pounds entry fee. Single guys Friday and Saturday evenings twenty pounds entry fee.

That’s my personal opinion, not perfect I know, but we are all entitled to an opinion. You could try this for three to six months. Adjustment could be made along the way. Cheers.

I personally would go back to the ways of the old club, the new place hasnt got that relaxed feel to it, and it should, lets face it the only thing that was at fault back then was the building itself, thats been addressed on a major scale, I mean wow how could you fault the new place, it puts the fab in fabulous!

I agree with you red....however, the atmosphere can only be created when there are enough people in to make it happen. New places always take a while before the place feels homely again like the old club....people use to comment on how cosy the old club was. It just needs an injection of people coming through the door.

Which sadly isnt going to happen due to cost and id requirements, and nobody is more gutted about that than me

Reasonable and similar to all other northwest clubs, ps, get rid of that disco room, as gorgeous and a nice concept as it is, you just cant engage with your audience in there and in my opinion the northwest is short of disabled play space....

disco area in my opinion works you can drink laugh and talk at the bar an social area without shouting and missing out on conversations.i think its unique. its also neighbour friendly.we have a disabled toilet and ramp to help but more needs doing to help with facilities i agree.its a work in progress and needed.in my opinion membership is needed not for big profits but to ensure safety for members.i know chris and the staff through experience want to do the best for all .prices are cheaper than most for everything .as for MEMBERSHIP and rules SAFETY is paramount X.

I think the prices of the bar are very reasonable as I don't know anywhere else that you can get a pint for £2. Also I think the price for the membership for a single male is reasonable as I know at another club in Blackpool they charge £60 for a single male or £40 if your renewing it. It might be worth while for you to look into maybe changing what ID you will accept maybe just ask for proof of a driving licence or passport and not wanting 2.

I do know another club that charges 60 pound membership or 40 if you local and there entrance fees are high.at connections it's a great price for membership and the entrance fees are reasonable the bar prices are good too. I just wonder what's putting people of coming it's a lovely spaced out area downstairs and upstairs the more people that tell the owner what they would like for the club the better the club will be I'm not saying it's not good now but every club needs feedback and connections in time will be the best club in blackpool it's not far off now

I also think bar prices are very reasonable, and yes membership for single guys is reasonable, and yes against the other local club its a winner for single guys, but do you want a club full of guys? Need to attract more couples and single ladies, and from speaking to them (not just my opinion) they would rather go somewhere else without the hassle of id and the 35 quid entrance on their first night in, i think membership is a good idea and didnt quibble paying ours may I add, but looking at entrance numbers something needs to change as all the will in the world isnt going to pay staff wages and utilities

Thats my worry, not against membership as I am a member there, but blackpool is a holiday town , some couples and huge groups only come once or twice a year, they are gonna be reluctant to pay membership on top of the night in there, when there are 2 other clubs competing nearby, I would hate to think the management think im just nit picking, I want this club to be succesful as I missed the old club so much and you all know we love you dearly as good friends xxx

We've been to clubs 100s of miles away to check them out knowing we wouldn't be returning again because of the distance.

Some of these clubs have as stated above just charged us a fiver for a temporary one night membership.

Just a thought.

Good luck with the new connections.

Does the licence state membership has to be renewed yearly? Making it a lifetime membership might be an idea to get round holiday makers?

Not been to this club yet......very tempted to try it as the reviews look good and it sounds like the management have taken time to listen to forum feedback......hope it's a dress down club as that's what we prefer but anyway it it isn't then we have no problem with stripping off as a way of encouraging others to do likewise! m x

To be honest we don't see what the problem is over ID membership for swingers.

Infusion have the same policy and so do many clubs in the NW and around the UK.

All data collected is under strict rules for discretion and safety.

With the new porn laws we'd imagine it's a rule that will be set out by all licences/councils soon on clubs like these.

Chris you won't make everyone happy so do what's best for you and your club.

Congratulations on opening and good luck.

Everyone has different views as much as they have different tastes.

We opt to be as discrete as we possibly can and don't advertise (apart from fab) what we like as a pastime.

With the ID issue now looking as though it is now resolved we will look to attend this club again. We didnt like the thought of ID being copied but respect the requirements in place and as such wouldn't attend.

We enjoyed the old connections and thought that the diverse attendance was great, everyone mixed well and hope that this can once again be the case, it's what made it popular in the first place and wouldn't like the clubs friendly atmosphere to change just to accommodate specific 'night only events' which may not be as popular but that's just our view. Everyone will no doubt have their own views of what will be best but obviously it's the owners decision which matters.

We looking forward to our first visit.

this forum post as been good to get to know what people think so as of now evening membership prices will be couple £5 lifetime membership single female £5 lifetime membership single male annual membership £15 any couple or single female that as paid £10 come in the club for your £5 back or I will take it off what you pay next time your in the club I hope the people on fab are ok with this ithink the prices of the bar are very reasonable as I don't know anywhere else that you can get a pint for £2.

We visit various North West Clubs 3 or 4 times a month. The reason we would not go to your club is not the licenced bar or the segregated nights . It is one reason only . Proof of ID with face picture name and address. We visit and are members of similar type of club set up ( Number 3 ) if they ask to see our driving licence or passport we would never go back.

"Okay Chris, my opinion; I like you, you a good guy, we met a few weeks ago.

Cheers.

"

I read the first half of this but stopped as it became an essay!

There were a lot of reference to the Townhouse - which is undoubtedly a great club and one of a few clubs I attend regularly!

What many people overlook, however, is that the Townhouse is the only club in a large area - serving all of Liverpool/merseyside/parts of Cheshire and North Wales etc etc - and as such does not face the massive level of competition 'on the doorstep' that most other clubs face (there are several swinging clubs/venues in Blackpool alone for instance!)

That said - the Townhouse has some great and innovative events (many of which I attend) and the bar is a (except on party nights) a combination of BYO or buy at the bar if you prefer. I think that combination may work well for you op if you have a licence anyway?

I have no issues providing ID - but I'm not mad on the idea of paying for membership if I come along!

I never tried the old club - but I've read enough positive things about it in this thread to want to try it - assuming I can find a hot young local guy to accompany me!

Good luck op!

How does a bank card prove your name? It could be anyone's bank card.It is either full disclosure of name and address as you started with. passport and utility bill. Or non disclosure. To the people who let a club photocopy your driving licence or passport along with a utility bill, You must be crazy. That amount of information can be sold easily on the web. It shouldn't even be put in your bin without shredding.

We left verifications for others and they are free to display them or not. To answer your question about not trusting everyone on Fab. Of course we do not trust Everyone on Fab. It is a free site and profiles can be set up in minutes. It appears we have annoyed you with our attitude towards the sharing and storage of personal information. Personal information is a valuable commodity to criminals. Add career ruining stolen pictures to the mix and maybe you will start to understand why we value or privacy. Your name and address has to kept on the premises and handed over should a police officer or a council official request it.

Among the conditions applied to the licence are that alcohol can only be served to people who have been members of the club for at least 24 hours, a list of the names and addresses of all members must be kept on the premises and produced on demand for inspection by an authorised officer. Somehow I don't think a quick look at someone's bank card is gonna cut it with the licence restrictions you have got. So to sum up . This club ,when serving Alchohol, has to have the name and address of every member in there. It will be ok after midnight because Alchohol can only be served until 12.

That is new to us we have never been asked.

Your club when open in the evenings operating under the conditions imposed are you stating that you do not have to keep a full register of All members with names and addresses? For that register to be handed over to an authorised officer should they request it? If you don't we would happily come and support your club.

Single guy has Gold membership. He has a lady friend. He wants to bring his lady friend to the club as a guest for the evening.

1) Does she require ID for entry to the club as she is not a member.

2) Are guests permitted for members to be accompanied by.

3) The cost for a single guy on a Friday or Saturday evening is thirty quid. What is the cost if accompanied by a female partner/friend.

Cheers

Hope you were busy tonight Chris....You're birthday night.

I'll be honest, thirty pounds on an evening for a guy on his own. Chris you are pricing guys out. Single lady a tenner, so a guy with a lady a tenner as a couples entry fee is twenty quid. Yet a single guy has to pay thirty quid. You would be better off, single girls a fiver, couples fifteen quid, guys on there own twenty quid.

At least until the place gets busy, and you get your share of business off of Infusions.

To pay thirty quid, the place would need to be getting feedback on here that it is pretty busy with girls and couples.

See how it goes tonight and the coming weeks, but I'd be surprised if too many guys spend thirty a quid, remember these are the members who will spend money behind the bar. Thirty quid and beer tokens, its an expensive evening......Happy 66th birthday old boy...

Just a thought..... Good luck.

I personally feel the membership fee on top of the entrance fee makes it far too expensive a night out for a club just getting established.

I was there with a friend on Thursday night. There was only one guy in the place at around 9pm on a greedy girls night. As we were two single guys we decided to head down to Infusions rather than pay £30 each.

I also get the feeling that the single guy is being used a bit with the annual membership. This was never the case in the old club. It never seemed to be over-run with single guys any time I was in. I could accept a one off fee of eg £15. But to be expected to pay this annually does smack a bit of profiteering off the single guy.

I haven't seen round the club yet. It sounds great. I hope you take the opinions on board that are being posted here. Look forward to seeing the club fully in future.

"well by going back to way it was at the old club single girls paid £5 on a mixed day time event single guys was £10 to get in couples was £15 to get in if they had been in the day time £5 off at night Friday night was £20 9pm till 3am Saturday night £25 9pm till 3am as for membership the club I have taken over was a members club I cant let the council have a go at me so membership as to stay but without all the ID but no membership fee in the day time events

Reasonable and similar to all other northwest clubs, ps, get rid of that disco room, as gorgeous and a nice concept as it is, you just cant engage with your audience in there and in my opinion the northwest is short of disabled play space...."

we liked the fico idea but when we attended was not menny in the club as it was 1st club night did find music bit dated as it was preselected we have been to other clubs that have DJs and the dance floor gets used . As for the bar like it but again it makes it a very expensive night and restricted on drinks variety maybe the old way is better bring your own but overall we love the club just need to get more people in we be comeing soon with Holly's I'd

Unfortunately we have not been to the new club but from what we have heard, it is amazing, fantastic facilities and very well set out, all to a high standard.

Some of things which have stopped us from coming so far have already been addressed by Chris and his management team, and that was the membership requirements (ID etc). For me, this shows that Chris and the team are listening to what people are saying and are doing their best to try and please their customers. Good on you guys

The other thing which have stopped us coming along so far, is very similar to what others have said, and that is the cost. For ourselves, as it will be getting on to £70-£80 for a night out. £20 in fuel for the 100 mile return trip, cost of parking near to the club (think it is about £5), £25 entrance and then the cost of buying drinks from a licensed bar.

The old club was same for fuel to get there, but it had free parking, bottle of wine for me (Mrs), couple cans pop for Mr (£1 each) and £15 to get in (open 8pm - midnight, which was not a problem for us as we have another hour drive to get home, so wasnt worried about leaving at midnight) so yes, the new one is going to cost quite a bit more.

We will come to the club at some point, and again, as others have said, we loved the old club, the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that every night was mixed (always a much nicer atmosphere in our opinion).

I really do hope this club is the success it deserves to be and know you have all put in a massive amount of work to get to the standard it is. We will come along and support you, but we just cant afford to come along as often as we did with the old place.

The atmosphere of the old club doesnt seem to be there, it could be down to a few things, the fact its been quiet, licenced rather than byo, the segregation, I couldnt say, maybe a combination of everything, maybe its because it was closed too long and people have found other clubs, I cannot say, but I know one thing, the facilities and decor put every other club ive been to behind them, its quite simply beautiful.

Maybe a total relaunch of the club and website is needed?

"

Fully agree with you (although not actually seen the venue or witness the atmosphere, but a relaunch definately would not do any harm for the club.

Perhaps some of us ex-regulars should all sort out a party night at the club, get as many as possible of the gang to come along, and hopefully invite some new members along as well?

However, I do think the club atmosphere is very much impacted by the people there on the night, possibly more so than by the club itself, but as we have not yet been to the club, maybe I'm (unintentionally) being a little hypocritical? Just know that we really miss the old club, totally thrashing (cough, cough) Python at pool, catching up with friends, having a bit of a boogie on party nights and generally having a brilliant night out

It isn't meant offensively Chris, it was genuinely constructive critisism. Certain nights require membership at Infusions, others don't.

The thing being, Infusions had 4 couples in the evening we are talking about. Connections had one single guy. Lets be fair, very few of us would pay £15 entry and £15 membership to sit talking to another guy at a bar. There are plenty of places you can do that for free in Blackpool.

I also didn't realise the club was vetoing certain single guys on weekend evenings. Any time I was in the previous place there was never an over abundance of single men. I see no reason to start it now.

The old Connections promoted itself on it's treating everyone equally and making everyone welcome no matter their gender or sexuality. I would like to see a return to that.

I don't think it's a good idea to tamper with the normal toilet facilities.

Glory holes should be a separate facility, as some women like to enjoy them too.

Due to the amount of calls from single males to come to the fee night, I have decided to limit guy's to selected male's so the club is not overrun by single guy's out for a free night. Numbers will be limited to males who are already members or who become members before the 24 July. As it is a members only night, no single makes will be allowed to become members on the night.
