" Is this many clubs good or bad? With so much competition around and only a certain number of people around who attend, how will all these clubs survive and what's their business model'?" I do think competition is always a good thing but it could also be said that the NW already has more than its fair share of clubs. The customer now has more choice, and in order for the existing clubs to keep their custom, they need to keep up their standards, but you also have to weigh this up against the number of swingers available to attend. More choice of clubs without a necessarily increase in the customer base, just means less in attendance at each club, and don't think that is a good thing for the clubs, or for the people who attend. Nothing worse than attending a club and there are only a hand full of people in there. The other concern is the rising cost of attending a club and the new trend of having a bar, rather than allowing people to bring their own drinks. This makes it an expensive night out, especially for single males, and means that people cant attend as often as they would necessarily like to attend. Just my thoughts and still hope that things work out for the new (and existing clubs) cause know a lot of hard work is put into setting these places up and then keeping them running.

"The north west is still a massive area... It's as far west as the Irish sea, as far west as the Pennines, and as far north as the Scottish border. There's quite some mileage to be covered. We are spoilt in Greater Manchester for sure. But Cumbria? Or Cheshire "proper" ? Not much! " Cumbria here, the mileage is off-putting, especially if you land up on a 'quiet night' ![]()

"There is only so meny people to go round I know of three clubs in and around Manchester that have shut, make that four I've thought of another one. ![]() Four closed in Manchester? I can think of two that closed almost 15 years ago and one or two that never really got going. Would be intrigued to know which ones as the others I can think of have simply changed name and/or moved or are at least an hour away and therefore not so central.

"Xanadu Boardroom Connections Can't think of any others Xanadu was my first ever club - must be 12 years or so since it shut though, don't remember Boardroom at all though - where was that?" Boardroom was in Salford. It was a bit (no a lot) of a dive really but strangely enough I (Mr) had some good times there. It must be at least 15 years since it closed, probably nearer to 20. Second thoughts. It couldn't have been 20 because I remember going with an ex and that must have been in 2000 or 2001.

"Was a connections in Manchester. No , sunny blackpool ![]() There was a Connections in Manchester, Openshaw, that shut coming on for 20 years ago. Other Manchester clubs to shut were Club Manchester and the one that opened briefly in Trafford Park last year. In the Northwest clubs in Poulton, Northwich and Blackburn have all been and gone.

"The club in Northwich was only on a couple of evenings per week - rest of the time it was (and still is) a very busy gay sauna. I think change of ownership saw off the swingers nights. There used to be a club on an industrial estate in Chester, though it's so long ago I can't remember any more details and we never actually managed to get there." It was called Relax and was in Saltney, I used to work there it closed in 2000....

"I think new clubs opening helps to improve standards and will hopefully stop the use of single guys as cash cows." Improving standards, or making clubs more attractive and exciting than others, is one thing, but they will always charge single guys more to keep their numbers down, otherwise the clubs will become a cock fest just like Fab has ![]()

"The club in Northwich was only on a couple of evenings per week - rest of the time it was (and still is) a very busy gay sauna. I think change of ownership saw off the swingers nights." And the monthly fetish night. I loved that event (although I can't for the life of me remember what it was called) but the venue was great!

"Toga toga ? " Toga Toga was the name for the swingers sessions. I don't know what the fetish event was called though. The venue was too big for the numbers that attended, we never saw more than about 20 couples in there and usually less. They should have closed half of it off and made it seem busier.
