Both very different, here's our thoughts on both:
Quest: 1st visit [Saturday 03 Sept 2016] (after emailing asking a couple of questions, but never got a reply). The taxi driver didn't have a clue where the club was and we drove past the entrance! It only cost a few quid from the Cosmopolitan hotel in Leeds center (£79 for the night). Got there fairly early to our standards (about 10pm) and the place was already rammed - it was like being the last ones to turn up at a party. We dropped our drinks off at the bar, but the staff were too busy to welcome us. We were then shown round by an old lady in a wheelchair but we couldn't hear a thing she said.
We didn't end up playing, just didn't get in the mood for it Plenty of attractive couples though, but didn't manage to speak to many as everyone disappeared into the play rooms before we plucked up the courage. It was different to what we are used to, it's a nice club though just not for us that night, might visit again but plenty of others to try first. Found the atmosphere more like being at a house party (as everyone already seemed to know each other) which wasn't a bad thing but in our oppinion it could have done with a dancefloor and a pole. The pool table was a nice touch though along with the buffet.
The room was very bright and just didn't have an sexy atmosphere to it for us.
We don't smoke, but like to get outside for a breather (especially as it was boiling even with the little fans scattered around - the place could use some air con). However there wasn't an outdoors area. I never know how much drink to take to these kind of clubs that don't have a license to sell it so it was a little awkward going back to the hotel after being out round Leeds to collect it, but I guess it saved us some money and £25 entry without a joining fee was good. Although the club was modern and clean we didn't like the layout - bit too square and boring, we like clubs you can have a wander round in. We would try it again, but plenty of other places to try first. Might have been better if we had arranged to meet someone out in Leeds for a drink or arranged to meet them at the club I suppose, but the Mrs doesn't like that idea as she doesn't like going out with any pressure.
La Chambre:
We have now been several times and now lifetime members. Each night is very different as we have discovered after trying Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Depends what your looking for as to which night you should go on. Things we like is that it has it's own Bar (no need to take booze). Theres a DJ & Dance floor. Although it's not far from home for us it's usually almost as cheap to get a hotel rather than a taxi then we go for a meal, casino and a few bars round Sheffield and make a night of it.
The club is an old Victorian pub, which to some looks old and rundown but we like the charm and atmosphere of the place. Sure the dungeon smells a bit damp and sweaty, but that's how it should be - all adds to the experience.
We have met some really cool people and loved it every time we have been, some nights are quieter than others, some are really busy - all depends what's going off (check the events page on the website before you go - especially if its your first time).
The staff are brilliant always happy to see you and make you feel welcomed.
As this is the first club we went to and it's our local we love it. Just wish we could get more often! |
