Being on the scene for around ten years now, we have noticed a change in the way that people are using Clubs and how the best Clubs are really upping their game. With that in mind we have a couple of suggestions that some Clubs have already adopted and maybe others could also think about.

1) Club attendees seem to be prepared to travel. They are prepared to book hotels and make a night of it so why not help them help you by advertising your event nights a long time in advance so your guests can take advantage of cheaper hotel rooms that can be booked in advance.

2) Bearing in mind point one (above) make deals with hotels local to you and advertise those deals on your website.

3) Be imaginative and be prepared to up your game. There are some simply awesome party nights going on up and down the country and the bar is being raised with each and every passing day.

For us Club goers, the choice of Clubs seems to be ever increasing and so by default the options to enjoy this lifestyle constantly improve.

At The Vanilla Alternative we are fortunate in having our own hotel as part of the club premises (The Anchor Lodge Hotel). In addition, there are 3 budget hotels very close by. Visitors do travel from all over the country to experience the upmarket club and they keep an eye on the 'What's On' page of the club's website to guide them when to visit.

The VA's hotel rooms do get booked up well in advance so early reservations are recommended but because of this, last minute cancellations are not uncommon due to various reasons, so it's always worth checking if any rooms have become available.

I totally agree with this. Loads of clubs are refurbishing and changing how they run to come in line with the more successful clubs and this only benefits the customer.

What I will say is that customers need to support their clubs and actually go! These changes cost money and some clubs have shut down or threatened to shut down due to lack of support.

We do overnights at our place and we advertise hotels on our website. We have tried to negotiate special deals but as we are so close to Liverpool centre, the hotels don't need to offer incentives to fill their rooms.

I think the smaller or less popular clubs are being forced almost to up their game or face being forgotten about.

I believe its not the venue or facilities that make a club, its the people. We regularly travel too different clubs round the country and even with hotel and club entrance can work out cheaper than an vanilla night out.

We've been to smaller clubs with only 20 people there and had a great night and been to bigger nights at bigger clubs and left by midnight as the atmosphere didn't seem right.

My biggest bug bear with some clubs is dress code, your trying to attract people for sex shorts, Primark leggings and ugg boots don't do it for me!!!! lol

We have been meaning to come to Townhouse again because we last visited when it first opened. Your local Premier Inn and Travelodge have £35 rooms if they are booked long in advance. You guys seem to have a good reputation and I reckon if you had your calender up at least six months in advance, you would get a lot of out of towners coming and booking the cheap rooms in advance.

We certainly would that is for sure

The second point might be a bit tricky as a lot of hotels and businesses wouldn't want to be associated with swingers clubs or parties (perceived reputation damage)

It hasn`t harmed the Premier Inn just down the road from Xtasia

Hotels do well out of being near clubs but prob don't want to be publicly associated so negotiating discounted rates for patrons might be a bit difficult

Travelodge and Prem Inn both do £35 nights. You wont get any cheaper than that.

I just meant that it would be hard work for clubs to negotiate cheaper room rates (for their patrons) with hotels.

This would depend on the location of the hotel of course! The Premier nearest to Chams is cheaper still if you can make a firm booking (not flexible) some months ahead!

My goodness you wouldn't recognise the club now then!!! It's changed loads! The most I have managed with the calendar is 3 months but our regular nights don't change anyway apart from the theme really. We have links to the Travelodge you mention on our website

Hope to welcome you back soon xx

Of course thats if you brave enough to stay in a travel lodge! Premier inn's ok for price(although vary in quality massively depending where they are) , but you'd get a better nights sleep and more comfort throwing a brick through someones window and then spending the night in a police cell than in a travel lodge - travel lodge to be avoided at all costs!

Quite a lot of the clubs now have hotel facilities onsite now - including those mentioned above, Chams, liberty elite , Jaydees lets people rent the play rooms at the end of the night! and Xtasia have plans to provide B&B i believe. most of the websites for clubs Ive looked at provide links to hotels(both cheap and more quality), and equally approved taxi companies.

So while I agree with the OP, not too sure which clubs aren't doing this already. I agree with the poster, that actually better management of some people attending would generally benefit some clubs - both from what they wearing(if a dressed club) to I'm afraid to say it some of the single guys allowed into clubs (some I doubt would have made it through the door of a normal club) - In general single guys at most clubs are great, but it appears once in a while clubs, relax their standards when numbers are not great that night, and its these ones that always seem to be the problem guys - so for the 30=50quid extra the club made that night, they potentially lost 1000s the following week when couples, single females(and other decent males) don't return having been put off by the behaviour of said singles, or even some so called "couples" While facilities, hotels, playrooms, jacuzzis etc all will make a club better, if Buckingham Palace had a swinging night on a friday, if the people allowed in were crap then it still be a crap venue, who want to be playing in the queens bed, when still being annoyed by some disrespectful single guy, who can't read couples only room, and doesn't understand the word no.

To me - outside of standards of entry, id like to see more clubs improve the rooms, areas to play in, and be more adventurous in design and concepts, I like XTASIA as a club, but think its play areas are limited considering the physical size of the club. Chams a far smaller club in area, as more play areas, differing rooms, features than XTASIA does. Its what lets that club down - sticking all the play areas almost in one place, makes it feel somewhat unnatural, that you have to make the effort to go there to play - rather than just stumbling across it as you walk round club, and equally being so small an area, and most rooms just locked flat bed rooms, means not enough areas to actually play - so most of xtasia nights is just people talking and dancing like a vanilla club.

Some dark maze rooms, with play areas, glory holes dotted about it would be great feature. More round bed type rooms, maybe with voyeur areas(walk way above or windows, to watch the activities but retain its couples only entry. Elevated rooms with glass all way round, The cage rooms at chams are a great feature (far better than locked boring rooms)

I think the OP is right. We travel pretty far for the right club/event.

In the last couple of years Xtasia has switched from just being open each week, playing the same music etc etc. to running a different style night on different weekends. Retro nights, Urban/RnB, House/Dance, etc. Each night attracts a different crowd, so if you pick the right night, you're more likely to find people like you to meet. They already have the dates up for their nights months in advance. We've already picked the nights we're going to attend, and put them in the diary. (Earlier this year we booked the hotel 5 months in advance).

Equally Secrets in Devon only runs once a month anyway, so when it does run, it's special and always busy. Rather than being the same old thing every week.

At the other end of the scale, there are clubs near us that never run a couples-only night. So we would never go. They are too scared of not catering to "everyone", that they are pushing away the people who SHOULD be a core clientele (couples-swingers!).

Personally i like the lockable rooms and don't find them boring at all but the cage rooms don't do anything at all for me and i never ever use them.

Maybe Chams has the right balance as it is?

If the lockable rooms went many people wouldn't go.

Each of course to their own - not suggesting they remove them, just find if too many off them or only place to play then it a bit boring and equally means once they gone nobody else can have fun even if it watching. Personal view on lockable rooms is if wanted to lock ourselves away in private might as well have stayed at home where nobody can equally see us and not bothered going to a club! Cage rooms are the best middle ground because they allow you to be watched - yet still have control over who in the room - equally if you see some nice people while playing peeking in you can get them to join the party !

Open rooms fun - but beed to be a bit more mindful of who there and what night you attended to ensure you don't find the "wrong" people joining in

For most of the time we are playing in a club we are in the jacuzzi. We like to lock ourselves away in a room sometimes and especially if there are guys who keep touching me even when its clear im not interested. Plus playing in a lockable room in a club is very very different to playing at home (which is suggested) cus at home we have a full and busy house and very little privacy hence we like to go to a club to play and chill in the jacuzzi too.

Totally agree yes, similar for us - as a married couple with empty nest we have a quiet house - but playing at the club with each other (occassionally we play the two of us - often but not always we ask others to join in) gives us a completely different experience to playing at home. We have very happily paid to enter a club, only played together - the entrance fee is well worth it for the atmosphere, the palyrooms, the jacuzzi, sauna, etc....m x

From reading all the posts i conclude that what we all want is to be able to choose where and how we play. So clubs that have the biggest choice of types of play areas will succeed along with the specialist clubs that do one thing extreamly well that people will return to because it fits ther needs. The club scene is just like any other business. The scene is growing so maybe one day someone will come up with the harvey nichols of clubs and of course the macdonalds of clubs and all brands the fit in between.

Enforcement of dress code should definitely be something that clubs should do.

Our last visit to Abfabs, a few of us chap's had gone to the effort of dressing nicely. Then there were guy's in scruffy ripped jeans, flip flops, even shorts and vest top.

Also

Kerbing excessive drinking.

Having time limits in play rooms on very busy nights.
