Nottingham Club

I was looking at the different clubs around the UK and saw that we dont have a club in Nottingham.

Is this something people would be interested in??

Not much, they just won't allow 'that' kind of establishment within the county bounds. Some councils don't. It's a very common vanilla response, Derby does though

I live in Nottingham and was just doing some research on what people thought to the idea....it looks like I will have to get in touch with the council and ask for reasons why and what objections would be raised and try and have answers for those objections.....

They don't allow any type of sex establishment from what I can gather.

Hence xotix was opened right on the border. There are quite a few councils that won't allow for common decency

They will say something bland like 'local residents' concerns'. I don't think they will be very helpful or specific.

Theres little point in objecting to it, local councils are the worst kind of petty and bigotted burocracy. If you're that intent on opening a club then do it where you'd be welcomed, or if its just about having a local club then there are several 'near' to you

There is a gay sauna in Mansfield maybe their council is more relaxed and would allow a swingers club

Bilsthorpe have a dungeon but it's classed a photography studio.

Mansfield had a dungeon but Notts are known to reject all applications. From Notts it's derby, (attic is still alive, mister g's closed and xotic was a waste of time. Rumours have flown for over a year about another derby club but it's never happened) Sheffield and Birmingham. Stoke had a good one but that's gone now

There is another in Stoke but my girlfriends won't go there

Would be great to have one in Nottingham, as they have allowed gay saunas where I'd sure more than just going in a sauna happens, and a few massage places where it looks like you can get more than a massage, so not sure why they wouldn't allow ot, I'd be deffinatly up for one

There is a club which is on the downlow but can't remember the name. It's on the outskirts somewhere.

There are quite a few photography studios that do porn in Notts, some do events, but purely for porn shoots. Notts council are still battling to close the sex shops too, so don't think you will get very far with them until we have a newer, younger generation sitting on the council.

I'm confused, is it Nottingham city council or the county council that's put the brakes on this? If it's city council then it may be possible to get a license with any of the district councils within Nottinghamshire. Think there is a definite gap in the market for a classy venue fairly close to Nottingham, I wonder if Broxtowe would be let a license go through.

It's the same reason notts don't have many strip clubs . The council don't give permission to new establishments and are trying to close the ones which are open.

On the other hand Leicester has about 5 strip clubs and a few swingers clubs in the city. Leicester seem more open to the idea, I wonder why???

Not an urban legend. Think it was 2011, the government made it possible for councils to decide on licencing and it became possible for them to opt for nil policies....this meant that all applications would be turned down.

Notts city council has opted for the nil option, notts County council have allowed venues that don't have sex licence... So kink venues that no penetrative acts are allowed etc

Paradise is in zouch, Leicestershire and not in Ashby De last zouch . They are quite some miles apart. Zouch is very close to the airport, just over the Leicestershire border.

Similarly, xotix was in Derbyshire but only just over the border.

Very odd bubbles massage parlour is in Sneinton very close to the city centre and the website also is quite blatant it is more than a beauty salon, then there is also 2 gay saunas very close to the city centre 1 called cs2 and the other called reflections I think these set a president and could be worth mentioning to any application to the council

I live near Nottingham but wouldn't bother going to a club there as there is Chams just an hour and a bit away from me so i would always prefer to go there

Is bubbles still there? When I lived just up the road it was always closed when I walked past, I thought it had been shut down

It was close enough to the Notts border to enable me to be a regular visitor by public transport!

Its on the border as I'm around the corner and the front of my house I'm in Nottinghamshire and the back I'm in Derbyshire

NCC won't allow any form of establishment that undertakes any sexual activity because of its heinous reputation for the sex industry during the 80s 90s and early 2000s where prostitution was concerned. This is why they have only allowed one strip club and it is topless only. I guess if they received a petition with a majority signature they couldn't overlook the idea but I highly doubt we'd get to that. You could open a naturist sauna though? There is nothing against that because you have two gay saunas that I can think of alone in the city!!

Funny but the 2 gay saunas are quite openly sex establishments after all they advertise having sex swings and glory holes maybe most on the council are gay

Possibly approach the gay saunas and see if they wud hold a swingers night celts in Leicester have done it just a thought
