"We went to a club recently and were refused entry as we were "only fuckbuddies, not a proper couple". We just left as we were mortified, but have got to being a bit miffed to be honest. What, exactly, is the problem with this please?" . Never heard of that before.

"How did they know you where only fuckbuddies? Also I thought it was common for people to hook up to go to couples nights." but isn't that then in effect circumventing the spirit of the night that is intended.... bit like going to a couple going to a club on a greedy girl night for example... but just taking advantage of a free night, but just playing with each other.... but yes.. it is a hard one to judge, its not one i would make a decision on.. and it is not a clear black/white situation i have seen fuck buddy couples in clubs where one has immediately split from the other and basically become a single and the cat who got the cream

"I called a club not very far from where the op has as their location and was told a similar thing, even though we were a legitimate couple. The attitude of the woman on the phone and the whole situation completely put me off that venue, so I took by custom elsewhere, and I've never been to that club to this day. I bet its the same venue and they lose many a customer in that manner." This has put me and a few friends off ever going there as well. A local club for local people (as long as you are not single/fuck buddy couple tho). Plenty of other clubs in the North West that are happy to accommodate my needs tho.

"On a couples night we have no problem with the relationship you have together. As long as you are a M/F couple x We cater for sane sex couples on our Bi or mixed nights... However, once in the club, if one or both members of said 'couple' were to begin trying to arrange seperate play and being a nuisance to other couples ... Or if one side were obviously very uncomfortable or voice this feeling - while the other had left them alone. We would ask them to leave , and return on either a night more suited alone... Or when they've discussed rules/ boundaries together a little better. Doesn't sound like your situation though with being refused entry right at the start of the night X" What about couples who also enjoy playing apart?

"How would the club feel if the lady of the couple brought in different guys every week. Or is this not the done thing for a female" Same thing applies but it hardly ever happens as ladies get into the club so cheaply anyway. It is the guys who do this regularly to get cheaper entries and to gain a place on nights when male places are limited xx

"If you're both playing I'd see no issue?! " The point being they shouldn't have to BOTH play, one might get more of a buzz from WATCHING their partner play, if its a COUPLES event then a MF partnership should be accepted

Some people come in purely to watch others. Some people come in as they feel safe to cross dress. Some people come in as it's better than going to the local boozer. Some people play with each other only as they have kids at home. Membership should not be based on whether the couple play!!

Some single women have couple memberships they use to go with different men. The man pays the whole couple price, which is less than he'd pay as a single (this only works if single men pay more than couples) and the woman gets in free.

"I have had a similar experience on two occasions when going with my bf. One event would not accept we are a couple - yes we both also meet separately. One would not believer we were a couple unless he messaged them; the other said we could not come as a couple when they heard I do not always play (no guarantee) as they said he was using me as a ticket. Obviously, he has gone to great lengths, meeting the parents and kids, moving in together for the privilege of using me as a ticket. I get quite cross having to prove we are a couple, or not .... our couple status is in real life, as we do everything together. Swinging, however, we sometimes do and sometimes don't .... but having to prove our situation to anyone else is really ridiculous. " Why should you have to play? The club isn't paying you to put out and that is so sexist. Have never heard of a man being refused entry because he won't shag someone

"The last time we went to AbFabs on a Saturday night.. couples only night.... we were really put off by the amount of single men wandering around. They were going in as couples with ladies, and then splitting up as soon as they got in. Must have been about a dozen guys like this. Although to be honest I don't think they were even fb couples. We asked someone about it, and they said it was happening more and more, making it just like a Friday 'couples and singles' night." When you get lemons , always make lemonade. If there are a dozen single guys roaming around, then there are 12 single women ( unicorns) roaming around also. So get the club to throw the guys out and let the women they came in with stay.

This shows without doubt that single guys are cash cows for clubs.

"The thing is, with single women getting single men into clubs on fake couple profiles on 'no single men' nights, the clubs have to do something or abandon the idea of having nights for couples and single women only altogether. As far as I can see, there are only two options: 1) Treat any man ealing around on his own as guilty until proven innocent, or 2) Hugely tighten up the checks on entry - have each couple's membership linked to two specific names, and check the identities of both on entry. That would require something more than a utility or credit card bill, it would have to be specific ID, preferably with a picture. So, would you rather be required to stay together all night, be required to produce photo ID on entry, or forget about nights without single men?" The problem with tight rules like that is it kind of kills a scene... You may think that the scene is buzzing, but mid week? Really? It would be better to simply make a single man plus one/two membership... I know a few single girls who would love to go, feel more comfortable if couples were there, but want a male friend with them. Clubs, couples, swingers, whatever's constantly complain about the "unicorn", well there's a whole fucking medow of them queuing up to get it.... But the farmer keeps firing his gun, to scare the wolves away...

"I think some clubs are trying to protect their members by being extra careful about who they let in but I agree with some comments, that this can be detrimental. There is a fine line between protective membership policies and appearing to be exclusive or picky. I think clubs need to treat people as individuals as in this lifestyle, there is no 'one size fits all' as there are so many different dynamics. I like to work with people to get the best membership for them and to offer events to suit a broad spectrum of interests, rather than putting people in boxes. However if someone takes the piss and they think they can play on my flexibility and good nature, they don't come back. Simple really. Everyone gets a chance. Thankfully, this rarely happens as most people are happy to find a venue which is so inclusive. " I totally get that and very well explained. Would a single man + 1 membership not work? Cause here's another thing.... Women are just weird! Yes you guys are! Some of my friends (sexual/not) we get chatting over a drink and sometimes it turns to clubs or whatever, I'm quite open. Now very often they want to explore further, but women are weird, so they usually have several boxes that need ticking. 1. Reassurance that the place isn't going to be the stereotypical 1970s dirty old men den of iniquity. 2. That a guy they trust is going to be with them and stay with them, even though they want you to go and enjoy yourself, they still don't want you to go!!! I know what a fucking confusing load of madness! 3. They hate giving out their address! For no reason whatsoever! I've been to a lot of places with women and I'm not just talking sexually & as soon as someone asks for their address, it's treated with suspicion. Many times it has to be done, but early is it communicated well. One of the women I know has just gone on her own to Oz for a year, Ye won't set foot in a club alone! I'm not really involved or immersed enough in the scene, but it does feel like many f the people who are wanted are also somehow excluded. It's like discouraging the athletes you want to see, from the Olympics.

And I'm sure the women I know would ask guys to take them to clubs too, but it's so rare to put two people together who want the same things... Take the girl who went to Oz, a corporate lawyer, very smart, gym fit body, model looks, very subtle sexy Irish accent, loves women and guys... But finds most of them, in her words, to be a "drip". She's more than independent, being able to go to a sex club in your own country is mildly independent. Visiting random countries around the world to work in, start again for a short while, discover their culture, meet completely new people is a whole new level of independence & strength... She's not alone, most of the female friends I have are right on that cutting edge... Business owners, consultants, linchpins... And sometimes this kind of stuff comes up, but no one ever suggests anything to help them... It's usually "oh it works just fine for me, so no need to change it". Well the whole country works just fine for me so why change it?? People struggling to live in the UK has no bearing on my life whatsoever...

And I'm not talking bout the guys above, they seem pretty cool, but it takes more than a couple of people to change a culture. Fuck sake, if Ireland can openly vote for gay marriage, then we can surly start to bring this thing into the mainstream.

"Last time I was at AbFabs they had signs up warning that on Saturdays (couples and single women only), unaccompanied men were liable to be thrown out, even if they'd come in as part of a couple. I think they've been having problems with single men coming in on fake couple memberships to get around the 'no single men' rule." I've seen this in action too. Lots of feral single men who've ditched their 'partner' once inside the club and started behaving like a single on the prowl. They simply say now that couples should remain together whilst in the club, if they came as a couple. Their relationship to each other shouldn't matter as long as for that night they are a couple.

"Well we are a couple which don't live together we go to clubs and play seperate on occasion ding has played alone which I love seeing but I'm always around to make sure she is safe and condoms are being used .... I have seen groups of single men going around like a pack of wolves for us it's very of putting so both of us tend not to play just socialise Even in a busy play night we might not play with eachother but after closing we have our special moment and special it is indeed The question on proving who you are to a club seems silly to me as long either of you respect other people and respect other people's boundaries the club or any club should not have a problem The question on ID well why should a woman give out a address for me that could be putting herself in danger personally (Pete) me will not give out personal information to any club due to my work .... Yea I know there are acts to safe guard you but it's too late when it gets leaked out .... And there are plenty of clubs around that don't ask they just look at your profile Sorry for the grammar or spellings as it was done on my phone Happy swinging fabbers " I agree with you, proving you are a couple is near impossible for those who do not live together and you shouldn't have to prove it. If you join as a couple, you are a couple and you don't bring anybody else in on the couples membership. The thing you said there about ID....this is an ongoing bug bare of mine and I have said this so many times, I am like a stuck record. Private members clubs who get special privileges to operate as a swingers club, MUST have a membership system and should ask for ID to prove the name and address of the members. As a part of this, they should have a tested data protection policy and should be registered with ICO. The clubs who do not ask for ID and do not operate a proper membership system are not strictly a private members club and will eventually come unstuck with their councils. It just needs something bad to happen on the premises and the club being unable to say who was on the premises for the club to be closed down and this will put the other clubs under the spotlight. One of the 'privileges' is being able to charge different prices for guys, girls and couples. They are allowed as a private members club, to offer discounted rates to under represented groups as an incentive to attend. They are protected against being in breach of the discrimination act because of their private members club status. If someone wants to make an official compliant to the authorities about their pricing and they are found to not have a membership and ID policy in place, they are then not a private members club and are leaving themselves wide open to be done for discriminative practices. This is just one of many examples of why clubs should operate under a membership/ID system. Every person who joins our club is told how their personal information is handled and protected. Those who don't want to part with their name and address, cannot come into the club but as above, there are plenty of other clubs where they can go instead. In 10 years, we have never had an instance of mishandling of personal information and that is because we take it seriously and actually put our tight policies into practice. It's only a matter of time before all clubs who want the Private Members club status/privileges will be forced to adhere to the ID/membership clause. Wow I can waffle!!!

"The problem arises when a couple get a couples membership card and then the guy brings in lots of fuckbuddies on that same card; so not a couple at all. A lot of guys have claimed someone is a fuckbuddy just to get a cheaper entry and the lady has spoken to the guy just that day. The lady is left high and dry in the club on her own while the guy goes off, for all intents and purposes as a single guy. In a club where single guys are limited, such as ours, if we had lots of 'fuckbuddies' who did this, we would have more than our quota and our other guests would eventually get pissed off. This is not heresay. This happened under the previous ownership a few years ago and our numbers plummeted as couples complained about too many single guys, when on paper we had 'couples'. If someone has a regular fuckbuddy, we have no problem at all with giving someone a couples card, but they must only bring that person on the card. It's not rocket science to me. Both parties can still come in separately as singles. Some 'members' clubs don't even ask your name or ask for ID, but to enjoy members club privileges, clubs really should do this. This means that details of couples need to be taken down and a card given, so several female names cannot go on one couples card. So to summarise, we do not knock back fuck buddies as couples if they want to come regularly as a couple...why would we? But we do frown upon guys who bring in a different girl every week on one couples card. " But surely for every "single guy" you got you now had a single female which seems to be what most couples are looking for so I'd have thought that would have. Been a win

"I work part time in Amour and we have a few couples(real couples) that come in together and then the female will go and play alone leaving the poor gents stood at the bar being entertained by my bad jokes! We also have people coming in as couples(fb) that never leave each others side! Each to there own but obey by the club rules, No following people. No touching before asking. No means no. It's not rocket science x"

Couples then see a load of single guys walking around and this then looks like we don't care about our own limitations on guys. We have thousands of FB's who are couples and have couple membetrships. What we are talking about here is a SMALL minority of people who take this piss and abuse the couple card system which can upset the status quo on a night. People who abuse couples memberships are not only disrespecting the club, but also disrespecting the other people within the club and I will not accept that. The other club in question here who do not allow FB's as couples...I really don't know how they police this! Without psychic abilities, there is no way that you could possibly know for sure I also think they are missing out on a great bunch of people who would add to their numbers. But we must accept and respect the decision of each club and if you don't like the particular rule of a club, then there are plenty of others.

What we are taling about is people going to a club who are not a couple. So use the couple guise to get into a club and then split up. They have no intention of being together, it's just a means to an end. So in a club where single guy places are limited, you all of a sudden have a lot more single guys, regardless of the females that are in, there are still more guys than you advertise, which pisses people off.

"Fair point miss townhouse twosome but I do remembe a thread some time ago that the registrar for attendees was left on the bar for everyone to see so these privicy acts are only as good as the staff that hold the book ...... And I don't see why single lady's of fuck buddy's should give there details ... Just personal safety And as for something nasty happening just call the police simples most clubs got cctv just make sure it's good quality cctv not one for a fiver in Argos lol " If a FB couple would like to come in as a guest, rather than a member, then this is doable and we just take a 'lead name and address' (See, lots of ways to skin the cat). But if FB couples would like to take advantage of having a couples membership, like the loyalty scheme, dicounts etc...then the details of both are needed, again to meet the membership criteria. I remember that thread about the board being left on the counter!! Jeez! The benefit of having a membership is that on our board, we use the membership number to book people in, not full name and address. CCTV can only be used at the entrance to the club and on the walk up to the club; it can also be used in a hot tun area for health and safety. It cannot be used in other areas. If someone was sexually assaulted on the premises and the perp left before we were informed, we would know his full personal details from the membership number to then contact the authorities and we would have him/her entering and leaving the club on cctv, so they couldn't deny being there. Without personal details, they would walk away scot free and we would be left trying to identify them on cctv. This is the example the licensing office and police gave us when we were sat around a table, negotiating the terms of our licences. It has never happened at Townhouse and I pray that it never does. I do feel that holding peoples information is almost a deterent for illegal activity. There was a case of sexual assault in a NW club this weekend, so I am not using a poor example. xx

" i have seen fuck buddy couples in clubs where one has immediately split from the other and basically become a single and the cat who got the cream" We are a married couple who seldom play with other couples in clubs. We normally split in clubs. What's the difference?

"For us, I would like to think on couples night it is only genuine couples, so welcome rules like this, would be sure there is no problem with FB's going on a couples and singles night. But how do you define a genuine couple ? " This is the thing which blows the whole argument out of the water. Any one of us can be who we want to be to strangers. I can say that I am a single lady with no attachments/kids. Who will know the difference in a club environment? Ok, I am quite well known now on the scene, but before we had the club, who would have known. The fact is, this lifestyle is based on trust OR treating it for what it is...no strings attached sex, so if this is the case, does it matter whether a couple are a 'real' couple? Also, from experience in the club, there are more ding dongs between 'real' couples who cross boundaries than any other group of people in the club/party environment. xx

" Lol! No pressure to play..but if you don't then your not coming in! Incredible !
