Hey guys! This could be in the wrong forum, but it doesn't really fit in anywhere else!

Is there anyone local who can do Henna body painting who fancies coming along to our Bollywood party to offer this to guests?

In case you don't know, we are on the Wirral just 5 mins from Liverpool. We can pay for mileage if you are coming from afar!

Aren't you supposed to do a 24 hour skin sensitivity test first?

no idea, this is why I need to get in touch with someone who knows their stuff!! It was just a thought that I had and need someone to advise x

Think it's funny that a skin sensitivity test is done before henna though and not a tattoo! lol I am covered in tattoos and I have never been asked to do a sensitivity test, even for my first. It makes sense though in the day and age of litigation and people laying the blame on everyone but themselves! lol x

I'm not an expert on this so check what I say with someone who is. However, hopefully, this should give you a lead on what you should ask.

Real henna, also known as pure or natural henna, is perfectly safe. When applied real henna produces a dark brown to yellowish stain on the skin.

The most commonly used substance for creating 'henna' body art is called 'Black Henna'. This produces a black stain on the skin. Black Henna contains a number of different chemicals, it may sometimes even contain real henna, it nearly always contains PPD (Para-phenylenediamine). PPD is a known allergen and is known to cause allergic reactions or server allergic reactions in 25% of people.

Other things claiming to be henna often are not henna. You should checkout what it actually is as many contain other dyes many of which are also allergens.

Hope this helps but check with a proper expect.

Thanks all!

What I am looking for is a person who does traditional henna which is brown and needs to be mixed into the henna 'paste'. I have had this before. It's a bit stinky but is what I believe is pure henna.

Looks like this is an idea that won't go ahead as nobody has stepped forward as yet, but I will keep my fingers crossed! xx

Ta! There is a place in Liverpool that may do it, but I like to keep this sort of thing within the swinging community to give work to people in our little circle xx

Your best bet would be reaching out to any Asian friends/associates.

If you are on instagram there's a henna/body artist who works in Aflecks Palace, Manchester Centre called @messyuncut

Afleck Palace is quite fetish, alternative friendly so she might be up for it.

http://i.instagram.com/messyuncut/

Her instagram page shows off the kind of work she does, which is stunning.
