Is anyone else put off clubs

Jump to newest

Is it just or us, or is anyone else put off attending clubs due to the constant threads put up by "fans" of the clubs, such as "who is coming" and the answers are the same old "fans"...

Maybe it is because it takes the "mystery" of what a night at that club might be like, or what to expect..

It just turns us off some clubs, when maybe it shouldn't...

it depends....

I am a great believer in that the really good clubs dont need people to do advertising for them.... you know you will have a good time regardless, not because people have to gee people into going....

I am all for clubs advertising their events... but "randoms" doing it can reek of desperation....

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

No, because the majority of club goers are not on Fab, or don't post on the forums. I will agree that some clubs to tend to push their events and nights quite aggressively, with other several posts about the same night going up, but the clubs I attend seem to be the ones that don't need to do this.

Particularly when it is unrelenting.

Having only been to a few clubs, we used the reviews and comments to decide where we would go & came to the conclusion that its a bit like 'trip advisor', you need people to say how they found a place. We all have different experiences and hearing about them, we think, helps encourage people to go - or in some case, not go. Just our view, looking at clubs web sites is never really enough...

I don't take any notice of what anyone else says about much. If I want to try somewhere I will. Then I'll know whether I like it there or not.

Not put off clubs that we have been to or have a good reputation through balanced reviews.

However what puts us off is the thinly veiled marketing ploy of one or two certain clubs who suddenly have threads appear at the top of the club forum just before the weekend with similar themes.

Not fooling anyone I'm afraid.

Recent posts have put me off going to clubs, but I'm sure I'll get over it.

Just go and enjoy. Some will tell you they love it, others will tell you to avoid it. Just relax. You'll enjoy. It's never as bad as you think.

Yes...one in particular seems to have a very aggressive ploy, even hijacking threads where people ask about other clubs in the area...the thinking seems to be to show how welcoming the place is but all it achieves by having a small number of regulars posting to each other almost constantly is making the place look desperate and cliquey to us...

No, because we've not been to a club yet. Until we go we wont know if it is for us. We ate social enough and I'm sure my partner will gets lots of male attention but I hope it isn't cliquey. We want to have a no pressure no hassle good time whether playing or not and definitely no sizeist comments. That WILL put us off.

I've been to one if the clubs on my own a number of times, I've always found it relaxing, friendly with no pressure. However I go on Sunday afternoons which when there isn't an event on are on the quieter side.....might be a good ideas to try then rather then go for a full on Friday night??

Or perhaps go when there is a FAB event on. This had a couple of advantages it's really social, cheaper to get in and no membership required to attend. Also couldn't be further away from being size at.

Simply yes it does.

But we see that as one of fabs flaws, and it does have it uses (means we can avoid certain clubs on certain nights & the added bonus of avoiding other members we dont want to meet )

If we go to a club and enjoy it, we will say on forum how good it is,,,justice same as we would say how bad one was,if it put some people of tough,we have found our favorite, don't worry won't mention it now,if people want to meet us they will probably find out reading our profile, forums are for topics, and clubs can come under topics

I do think there is a big difference between clubs advertising their own nights... Of which there is a specific section, and for example "randoms" hijacking another part of the site (this one) to advertise they are going to a club on a specific night) or which again there is a section

This thread has mortified me! We love the club we go to and I'm always banging on about how great it is! And I ask 'who's going' to see if it's hotties or notties (we may change out kind on joking then!!!!)

Yikes, note to self, post more gently!!!

I/we always strive to give a balanced view of the club's we have attended but within that we have our own bias on what we consider important or not.

What really gets to me (mr) is cheerleading and it happens here and on the review section constantly. "Best club in xxx another amazing night tehhee" it offers nothing to the casual observer making their minds up as to what club to attend and makes the review page for clubs that little bit less interesting.

As for the forum cheerleading it actually turns me off going to a club as its almost like a living clique/cult with some of them
