Hey all, we are ready to start going to events and are looking for some advice.

We are really looking for a social meet to begin with, something like the swing version of a munch.

Any suggestions?

Since you've an interest in kink and your status says you'd like to visit AbFabs, I'd suggest going to the fetish night they hold on the second Friday of each month. It'll be a scene you're more familiar with and some of the people who attend the more vanilla AbFab nights will be there (though I can tell you from experience that there's often a thriving collection of kinksters in the dungeon even on 'vanilla' Fridays).

There is no real swinging equivalent of a munch. The 2 scenes are qiite different in that respect

Most swinging socials there days are club meets though.

Kink munches are totally vanilla and nothing more than a few beers and a great way to meet people.

I disagree that 'socials' are all club based, the Sheffield social is pub based as are many many others.

A quick look in meet requests and parties shows a lot of socials in a variety of places.

I prefer munches and don't really do socials anymore, but then I go to clubs, and I can socialise just as well, in a swinging club

I think we agree with you munches are favourite event. In fact we met at a munch.

Thank you all for your suggestions, lots of things for us to try out. I think we will go to a club soon to socialise. AbFabs see to be a popular choice...

Quite a few socials go on in the swinging community often held at clubs or other places (look at the meet and events forum), the socials we have been too are just that social with no play.

However no ones ever going to force you into play anywhere so your trepidation about even encountering someone playing is a little odd for this lifestyle :P.

I'm confused, I don't know what the different areas are like, however the Sheffield social is in a pub. I know Sheffield isn't local to you but I am sure with a little look in UK, or the other forums on here will clarify.

I guess people could decide to sneak to the pub loo's for some naughty fun but a pub is a pub, I doubt porn will be in your face

+1 im really not understanding this "socials aren't really socials" thing going on in this thread, the ones we have been too have been exactly that.

There used to be such a thing as swinging munches. They were my first introduction to the social side of the scene. Sadly they have largely disappeared now.

Socials are great when they are held in vanilla environments, but more amd more are being held in clubs, which I personally think defeats the primary definition of a social.

Maybe it is a regional thing? We could easily go to at least one kink munch a week either local to us or travelling in to London and that doesn't include play events or the 2 London Markets. The only swinging Socials we see advertised local to us are without exception at one of the local clubs. I know there have been threads trying to get a London social going and as far as I know it doesn't seem to happen. But there are lots of clubs round here, there are 6 within easy (less than an hour) travelling time so maybe that is the reason the socials end up being there.

I just don't like watching, I get embarrassed. It seems very seedy and pervy to me to watch, like I'm taking advantage.

I love joining in on the other hand and that's why I love this lifestyle. I wouldn't give it up for anything
