Hi

I have seen a rope workshop advertised at Xtasia next month but frustratingly im busy that day! Are there any other clubs which hold such events?

Had anyone any feedback on them?

Thanks

Slough

Does it have to be in a swing venue? Or are looking for rope workshops in your area generally?

VA have had a couple of Shibari demonstrations over the last year, they may do more. If you're interested look up Esinem, we've been to a work shop run by him and would recommend. There's also likely to be something at Erotica over the 3 days.

There are some great kinbaku instructors if you look online... One to one tuition can be a lot of fun and I think you learn more that way!

HOPE THIS HELPS SOME ON HERE

A group for kinksters to keep updated about Manchester Rope Jam.

ROPE WHAT?

Rope Jam. Musicians can jam, circus performers can jam, so can rope people. :o) More commonly known as a Peer Rope Workshop, it's a chance to make use of a friendly, chilled out practice space to learn and try all the ropey things you want, in an ego-free environment.

WHEN AND WHERE?

Rope Jam takes place on the 3rd Sunday of every other month, from 12:00pm. We have the downstairs function room reserved at Taurus Bar, No1 Canal Street, Manchester M1 3HE up until 5:00pm. Taurus are a very kink-friendly venue, having provided space for the O&p Group and SM Dykes before now. They are fully aware of the nature of the event and are happy for us to use the room, and thanks to their kind generosity, admission to Rope Jam is FREE! :o) You can find out more about them at http://www.taurus-bar.co.uk/

BYOR

That's Bring Your Own Rope. While there is usually a friendly soul at most workshops willing to lend you some rope if you're stuck, it isn't guaranteed. Whether you have an extensive collection of the finest jute or you're just starting out with some rescued washing line, as long as you're having fun with it that's all that matters. :o)

The room has a wooden floor which may not be the comfiest place to lie down and be hogtied. It may be a good idea to bring a yoga mat or a camping roll to lie on. We are hoping to offer the facility for suspension sometime soon.

DA RULEZ

No nudity anywhere at the event, and no rope outside the practice area. The rest of Taurus is still open to the public, and while they are happy for us to use the space they would like us to be respectful of their other customers.

It's a rope workshop, not a play party. Please do not engage in non-rope play.

Please respect others space and allow them to play in comfort.

Leave your ego at the door. Helpful suggestions should be encouraged, as should asking questions. The main idea of the event is to learn from each other and have fun with rope, whatever your level of experience.

If taking photographs, please obtain the permission of everyone in the shot, including those in the background.

Rules:

Thanks for all the comments. No it doesn't need to be a swingers club, I just didn't quite know where to post my enquiry.

Sadly we are both in the north but I think it may be a worth a trip down south as we are eager to learn.

Thanks again.

Have a search for Peer Rope events near you. Lots of major cities have them (London, Oxford, Birmingham etc).

If you're in London and you're a female top I also highly recommend Hitchin' Bitches which is a FANTASTIC female led learning environment.

Up North

I have been to the rope jam in Manchester. The next one is the third Sunday of this month.

Well worth a visit. Just bring rope, a mat, comfortable clothes and an open mind. The tutors are incredible

Perhaps I will see you there. X

West Bromwich

Ours is run every other month, on the same day as the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar, from 5pm to 10pm, so great excuse for a day out, naughty shopping then rope. Its a really friendly and welcoming group, who can help out from absolute beginners through to full suspension and intricate work. Also, as we are a club, we can be naughty with it, always helps a little, lol.

If looking for stuff outside the Midlands area, best bet is to look up a specialist Fetish Life web site, and then look for listings on that for rope workshops. We advertise ours here on Meets/Events as well as on these other sources.

Hope that helps.

we went to the last workshop in _tasia and had a great time. It's not a sexual event as yet although the proprieter is hoping it might get naughtier! Everyone was very helpful and we learnt lots.

I took a short skirt and heels. Shaved my legs especially..... oh well; perhaps next time it could get sexy naughty.

Back to this thread tho; the rope workshop was really great fun and we'd recommend it wholeheartedly.
