If your looking to make new friends or do any swinging then don't bother.... we went in fetish gear and masks while most made no effort (thought we had gone to an accountants convention by mistake) no one wanted to chat or play and everyone sat around in the main room in there own groups...

Thank you ......oh not promising. Well see. I like clubs so it will be a shame if it is like that my partner has never been to a club before x

It will be very quiet. They don't get many in. The music will be loud. Not a lot will happen. If you look at their reviews on the club section, most come from the same people, over and over.

The south east is chock full of clubs all that get much better reviews than hellfire's and are much buisier.

you could go to AB Fabs, Ourplace4fun, Eurkas, VA etc etc

I'm not anti hellfire but everytime it comes up here the comments are always "its empty" "the owner seems to hate it if its full" etc.

Granted, the BMFC party is OK, but then that is not run by Hellfires owner. When it is just a Hellfire event the place is deserted! Even when AbFabs closes, I can't see it picking up as most of the AbFab crowd would probably not be allowed in!

Curious.. why wouldn't the AbFab crowd be let in? Its not as if they're all gonna get the time of day wrong and strip off to their towels

I would think ourplace4fun with the expansions will be taking up a lot of the slack left by AB fabs departure given its an established good club.

Not sure why everyone thinks hellfire is the next logical place when AB Fabs closes.

I think people are referring to the 2 venues (ABFABS and HELLFIRE) geographical proximity ..

Actually it may be perfect for your partners first time. It may well be quiet but that isn't a problem for the first time really. I think the rooms are exceptionally decorated -and the whole place is well conceived - although there were too few showers last time I went and it was cold ! - it was a while ago mind you so it may be a little tired now !

If you want crowds of people then yes abfabs is a better option - for a gentle start it may well suit perfectly ! - well fingers crossed. Have fun.

Oh for Pete's sake, would people at least give Hellfire a chance!

Stop wittering on about how quiet/how cold/how negative blah, blah it is.

I've been to Hellfire numerous times; it's busy on certain nights and the weekends do get very busy indeed. I've had very enjoyable times there; you get out what you put in, in terms of effort. The Masquerade night is popular; special prices apply, so always look at their website. It always helps to call Peter, who owns and runs it, in advance. Either he or his staff will show you around.

You have to go, view it and make up your own minds. But don't listen to the doom merchants; it is far better than they make out!

It really is a simple case of geographical location. When abfabs shuts it will take some of the load, not all of it granted but it will take the bulk of the locals who dont want to travel. Abfabs has had the headstart for years thats why its busier. Like all clubs I would go and see what you think for yourself and go from there.. lets face it the club we have been going to for years is going so surely its better to have another local club than none at all, make perefct sense to me

We don't think there is anything wrong with the venue, and the location while not the easiest, is hardly too far. At the end of the day people will travel and do, for a good club.

The comments we constantly hear, and this is simply feedback, including from our own reviewers are about the host, and the way the venue is run, sadly, many of these are in the negatives. Unfortunately, often owners / hosts can be the worst people at taking critcism and making changes, or be willing to take a back seat, and let someone else with bette people skills be the 'face' of their venue, because sometimes that's all it takes to make a difference, and it seems to us, like it or not that is the main issue here. The obvious difference is when someone like Helen runs the BMFC there and gets over 80 people in, which demonstrates the venue is good for organising such a party and distance and location obviously isn't an issue.

This is of course just an opinon.

Sunbury-On-Thames

Hello, I for my sins own and run The Hellfire club. I would not wish to contradict the sincerely held opinions of others but would make the following observations:

We definitely have fewer attendees than Ab Fab but have had 130 at the top end (187 for an external event)and rarely below 50 on Saturday`s. We now regularly manage to get in excess of 40, including many couples, on a Wednesday afternoon at Brief Encounter (the average a year ago was 12).

We vet all applicants and limit single gentlemen (who can attend every party). numbers are of course important, but also style, manners, decor and as someone mentioned before, how long the Club has been open. Are there quiet evenings; yes, of course, but far fewer now than in the past.

If you wish to visit tomorrow and there are less than 50 people, with a majority being couples, I will refund your entrance and you can, of course, come back to the forum and confirm the negative comments.

I have a fantastic core of loyal members and on most occasions, the vast majority have a good or excellent experience. I Hope we will see you tomorrow.

Peter

We have been to hell fire, we found Peter to be lovely and respectful as well as welcoming. The people was nice and chatty. The dungeon well equipped. Its not as busy as Ab fabs i agree but it ISN'T Ab Fabs so don't compare it. We would definitely go again ??

Hi

Thank you for all your reply's. Unfortunately I was out all day on Sat and never got to have a look at this site and with apologies to Peter who runs Hellfire, , we chose to go to Abfabs as I had experience of the venue. (Peter - Can I also apologise to you for not cancelling the fact that we would not be attending). Perhaps we will try soon (if we are allowed)as I really enjoy clubs and were contacted by a nice sounding couple who help behind the bar. All the best. Misty xx

Hellfire is a great club and Peter a fantastic host. Admittedly a little quiet sometimes, although that situation can often have its advantages if you find people that you get along with. For the record, imho, when things get moving Hellfire can be up there with the best clubs on the Continent.

Fortress of Solitude, Middlesex

I have been to Hellfire on a couple of occasions and while I found the layout, location and discreet positioning of the club more than adequate, I can see why it helps to go with people you know (which I did on both occasions).

Quick thank you again to Peter who I found to be a lovely gent and went out of his way as a host in ensuring my partner and I were comfortable and welcomed when we both attended. A bonus being its a really convenient venue 5 minutes from me so the real difficulty is deciding whether to drive or take a cab

The only negative (if you want to call it that) was I found people to be a little too "polite" (ie, no one wanted to offend by propositioning complete strangers to play, or introducing themselves for fear of being assumed as doing so with sole intent to play) but that's merely an observation, rightly or wrongly, and even if true it still has nothing to do with the venue, rather the people on the night.

Still had a lovely time, will still attend every opportunity that arises.
