After posting a few times in the thread about old swinging clubs,I began to think about the contact magazines we used to write to when we first started "wife swapping" back in 1986.

Our contact magazine was "Northern Linkup" published by Brian and Norma in their shop in Bolton.Think it cost about £1.50 at the time.

We sent an advert with a photo of Betty in her stockings and suzzies for them to publish in 1995.

They sent us our copy of the mag. in the post and Betty was mortified to see herself spread all over the front cover,with a little black dot covering her modesty.

So I like to tell the guys that we meet ,that they have just had the pleasure of fucking a bona fide cover girl.

I have an interest in writing erotica and I think some of the best stories I ever read as a formative teenager were in such magazines like "Silk Swingers" and "Vibrations" back in the 70s and 80s

As I recall, the Escort readers wife section was just pics and a town name.

After a while they and other mags hit on the idea of premium rate phone lines to 'contact' women.

I remember the small contact mags well - sitting down to write replies to the adverts, enclosing an SAE as requested - only to find that most of the women I'd contacted were "working girls". I did meet one woman in the very early 70's, then another woman that turned out to be a bloke - he was featured in the "News of the World" later for doing this! And I met my first couple from a contact mag in Northern Ireland(!!!). Great days!

Loot magazine had a section for swingers. Don't know whether it's still going. Used a po box and then received a shed load of replies with well dodgy pictures ( oh my god showing my age now!!)

Northern Linkup also published a sister magazine called Manchester Scene.The adverts in this mag.always had phone no.s in them- hence why it was called a direct contact magazine.And all these ladies were always seeking "kind" and "generous "gentleman.

Not really a magazine for wife swappers.

I used to read Vibrations as a teen, and it opened my eyes to this world... Later made good use of Loot’s phone contacts to meet couples and guys, including two couples I’m still friends with now, and a MM couple in south London who looked like the Mitchell brothers!

Yeah there were a few one called forum provided me with my first contact with a genuine couple and entry to swinging. Mind you they wrote back and told me they had just got an email address and suggested we used that to speed things up a little lol. I stayed in touch and played with them for over ten years ;+)

I sold some of those early premium rate numbers and helped set up porn lines. Met some interesting people if somewhat shady

Did you sell the premium rate numbers? Have a lot to thank you for - including hooking up with my first couple for phone sex initially, then a series if mindblowing meets! Others came later through chatlines like Quest Personals, and Loot.

Escort had a readers wives section with some having an emblem labelled "contact' on the ones who wanted to be contacted through the magazine. You would find these on a double page spread probably featuring about 20 wives.

Some of them were real regulars in the mag as you would often see them again . sometimes the ones who featured in the contact section would send in their story of readers they'd met some months later and the pics to go with it . Often they would say how much mail they'd received through the magazine.i believe Escort is still going .

My favourite was always wives who had met black guys through the magazine while hubby watched .

In those days I'd never imagine that years later my future wife would like to participate in such activities.
