Anyone else put off clubs when the night is a fancy dress night?

Also when strict dress codes are in place is a bit off putting.we are a very smartly dressed couple but find it all a bit pretentious.

What's wrong with the dress code we have seen at some parties of strip off on entering.

Chams has it right,towels for men same or sexy for women.

That way you can see what people look like before even approaching them

Chams has had that rule for years and i guess it works for them. But every clubs appeals to different people wanting different things and some people like to do the dress up thing. I for for one don't but respect others that do. If you think fancy dress is tough then you should check out the Fet world where the "fashion police" really give you a hounding..lol

Agree not in too fancy dress. Stripping of in to towels? Nah not for me. I wear what I want to and when I want to. Otherwise the stripping off bit when they say is putting pressure on people. X

Does not bother us not that we really do the fancy dress thing, we still go there are always plenty of people who don't bother, yeah chams is great an we love it there but sometimes we want to dress up a bit then we go to va, we never really dress down but insisting on trousers for men would be a bit too far for us.

we have been to VA and Libs dressed in fancy dress and found that we were some of only a few who bothered. I enjoy a good fancy dress party, but when you are the only Ceasar at a roman party it doesn't make you feel comfortable

Nor does it encourage you to spend the time and money to do it next time.

However I can understand that clubs need to do something to add variety. The best one we went to was a 1950's pin up party where all the women got to wear their best undies. More of that please!

That is the only fancy dress she is interested in.saw a programme on TV last night with burlesque dancers on,she said she finds them so sexy

We tend to act differently - Angie will always wear something sexy and will always get back into it after fun, I generally remove clothing through the night just for comfort and ease of access. We use JayDee's a lot and although I like the chams approach, at JayDee's it's just about what makes you comfortable...

If I'm going to a 'wet' club like Chams or Partners, then I'm fine with the whole towel and dressed down thing. If I'm going to a nightclub style club such as Xtasia, then I make the effort to dress smart and expect the same of others. I also like to decide if and when to dress down, not be told to.

As far as fancy dress goes, it's not really my thing, but if it's at a regular party where lots of people take part, then I might just give it a go

Never been to a theme night at a swingess club and it doesn't overly appeal. We always make an effort, though not as much as we do for Fet nights and to be honest clubs aren't overly cheap so buying an outfit for a themed night that might never be worn again really doesn't appeal.

Just shows how different we all are, and how we all like different things. We purposely avoid the clubs that make you strip off down to a towel as you enter or at a certain time of night. Much too clinical for us and it is as though they are 'making' you play at a certain time.

We don't mind the clubs that have fancy dress nights as they usually dont enforce you to have to wear it, but it usually means they are more relaxed, and therefore we usually feel more comfortable in wearing what we feel what we want to wear.

We went to Connections Blackpool last week was a rocky horror theme plenty dressed up and sum didnt and no one really bothered lol brill atmosphere

sum of the blokes looked well fit as women lmao xxx one even looked like Bet Lynch haha I'm sure if D reads this ill get it in the neck lmao xxxxx

We quite enjoy the themed nights.

They are usually a bit tongue in cheek and most importantly, if a wet club, finally gives the guys a chance to do a bit more than jazz it up by wearing a different coloured towel!

The most attention I've ever had, as a male, is when I've jokingly dressed up - it's a giggle.

On the flip side, we haven't ever done a "dress up" club but really like the idea, as we both enjoy wearing a nice outfit.

How is wearing a towel making you play?

And you don't have to wear a towel at chams, you can wear sexy lingerie or corsets etc for the women and shorts for the men.

I put on themed nights at chams sometimes. Not everyone dresses up which is cool but some make a fantastic effort

To be honest we both love dressing up, be it fancy dress, or very smart dress and love sexy ambience they create.

We are also on the fet scene and dress at most venue/ events.

But we don't mind just getting naked either or towels.

So maybe we are just easy to please lol.

Actually it is one of the things I missed as a bloke now that vanilla clubs have dropped there strict rules on dress codes.

I used to love that getting ready bouncing to music ironing shirts pants and polishing shoes then looking and feeling all dapper and smart.

and believe me the lady love a well dressed man.

I never wear a towel at chams but always have a nice pair of pants and I think it really breaks down barriers when people are in a state of undress there is never any pressure to play

We have done naked night at chams, towel night at chams, naked upstairs at xtasia, dark room xtasia, towel at xtasia, dared naked lying in snow on chams roof, towel downstairs xtasia, naked downstairs at xtasia... And fancy dress at xtasia. We just love joining in.
