Very sad news … I’ve only been visiting for the past year and have had some great times and met some great people too .

Maybe there needs to be a big meet arranged get the place full as a mark of respect.

That’s a nice idea but Mrs C would need to be informed as it could mean a huge workload for her at a difficult time.

Very true although I’m sure she would appreciate the income from a fuller spa !

It’s always very hit and miss and I would just love to see it full one last time.

Hi all, yes very sad news indeed. I knew he was in hospital from talking to his wife, but still a shock.

Hopefully will stay open a little longer.

Would be lovely to catch up with a few of you regulars to the spa in respect.

It’s up again but it may have been my internet playing up. There’s a note from Wen saying there will be a book of condolences and in time details about the funeral. She also says they will be open for the foreseeable future.

Very sad news. John was one of the great characters of the naturist scene. I'm sure that a lot of old timers owe their switch from naturism to swinging to the atmosphere he created at Silverleigh. He will definitely be missed.

Really sorry to hear this - he was a lovely guy.

He cared for Val without ever complaining.

I bought his mobile home on the campsite in Cap D'Agde. His French neighbours often asked after him and I will make them aware of this sad news.

Condolences to Wen over her Loss of John.

Sadly, time and this grim winter have claimed John who held an exemplary position in the world of naturism.

When I last saw John a few months ago he was still swimming enthusiastically as well as mingling with regulars in the cafeteria.

Yesterday I was just across the road and Silverleigh looked perfectly normal, well lit and with plenty of cars outside.

Ah very sad. Really great guy.

He let us have a swimming pool lock-in one night when we stayed. We were all dancing to salsa in the pool while he sat by the side. He was a legend.

We're very sad to hear this news. We last visited between Christmas and New Year and heard then that he was in hospital. We were just talking about going on Wednesday, which is how we just found out.

He was a lovely, kind and generous man and created a wonderful haven for us like-minded souls to escape to. He will be remembered fondly and gratefully by many and we really hope his legacy continues with the spa staying open into the future.

Condolences to all of his family and friends.

Really sad news. John was a great guy. It was only seven years ago we lost Val as well.

Thoughts are with John's family, friends and wife. May he rest in peace.

I've only been a handful of times over the last couple of years and never got to meet him, but everyone I spoke to there only had good things say about him.

Sounded like a good guy

Very sad news about John. I was a regular to silverleigh back in the 90s. I'll never forget John or Val, lovely people. Also remember George, Iran, Ann and Harry who all worked there
