Hey there,

After a bit of advice, have been to Attic loads by myself but on Saturday (16th) I’m hoping to be taking someone who’s never been to a swinging club before.. she has a very rough idea what to expect and I’ve no expectations whatsoever..

Wanting advice about how to go about introducing her to folk.. the last person I took freaked out within minutes (and it wasn’t the least bit busy) and the day was cut well short..

Take it at their pace. If they get overwhelmed go to a private room for a while and just talk to each other till they’re ready go to out again.

I have, quite a few times, but talking about it and actually experiencing it are totally different.

The last time I took someone - she was well up for it right up til we got to the door and had spoken about it all many times but she was quite different to the lady I’m taking Saturday..

Keep her away from the really tall men, especially the ones with a bit of a goatee beard.

As you should know, the female staff will be happy to talk to her and help relax her.

Let one of the staff do a tour rather than you do it yourself, that initial interaction sometimes helps, and it will help clarify and confirm the things you would have already told her.

If you have never been to a club before either then, what we would recommend is a club that doesn’t have membership fee. As then if you don’t like the club sense you haven’t spent a lot or committed to something. A good club for this is the Attic in derby.

Also don’t go on a Saturday party night as it’s to over the top for newbies.

We would say go on the second Friday or Saturday evening after party night when last people but enough to find your feet and have fun if you want to.

Plus know each other’s play boundaries before you go that’s mega important.

Plus the attic is open day times to Tuesday-Thursday but the rooms are locked open
