Hi all,

What the verdict on Euerka Sun club in Kent?

Naturist resort?

Are you allowed to play in the pool/outside?

Looks like a good choice for the summer.

Thank you in advance x

Lots of open play in lower field and woods area - judging by ‘hotel’ you would enjoy it on a hot day!

Nothing sexual in or around the pool area or on the top field…. But the bottom field and woods are ok.

No sex in hot tubs either. You will be asked to leave if caught

The grounds and woods of Eureka are our favourite place to be on a warm summers day.

You can play in the woods and the lower field and be naked anywhere.

Some of our pictures were taken there.

Haven’t been to Eurekas since before lockdown. Some of my outdoor pix are from the bottom field - fun times

I thought it had shut down or changed hands?

I went to Eureka today and renewed my Gold Membership. Others are doing likewise.

The Pool area has been repainted and although not heated the water is full and clean. I spent all afternoon up by the pool and really felt I was home again. Can't believe how high in the sky the sun is already.

I'm hoping to see lots more of the regulars back there again soon.

There is absolutely no other place like Eureka in summer.

Hopefully, a sunbathe this afternoon, if the weather doesn't change by then. I'm tied up for lunch otherwise would go out there earlier.

Great news about the main showers being hot again.

If that's the case I will probably go up there anyway for a tub soak even if it is iffy outside.

Managed to get enough time on a poolside lounger to help with the progressing tan.

Best of all, I caught up with a fair number of the regulars today.

Lots of people there yesterday (Sunday) for the O and I event.

I spent the afternoon on a lounger up by the pool renewing friendships and meeting new people.

The staff were working flat out serving refreshments when I got there and all the time until I left.

Great to see a good day for the club.

No it doesn’t at all does it!

The owners applied and were granted planning permission to build on the land. They either plan to do so or plan to sell the land as is with planning permission. That much is obvious as no one would apply just for the fun of it.

The unknown quantity is when. The current leaseholders (the people who rent it off the owners) simply refuse to engage with anyone and give them an answer. I think it would be reasonable to assume that if they had a really long lease remaining they would have said so. Either that or they just aren’t bothered enough to explain!

It seems now to be a case of enjoy it while it lasts and take a membership out at your own risk.

They have already put out a statement saying its not going any time soon as there currant lease for the building has 4years plus on it still and if people actually went down there and spoke to the owners or staff they would also hear it from the horses mouth but people are to easy to jump on here and talk things they dont no and cause doubt

That has to be a false statement because once planning has been granted you have 3 years to start building or you have to reapply

"That has to be a false statement because once planning has been granted you have 3 years to start building or you have to reapply "

You simply have to start a material operation under the planning permission which could be as simple as upgrading the road or building a storage shed - you do not have to actually commence the build of the properties. Once commenced the planning permission remains indefinitely.

Really?

Where was this statement?

There was certainly assurances that a statement was forthcoming, that current club owners were going to announce something on here, but still nothing and there is still no statement or any relevant information on the club website to provide anyone any reassurances whatsoever.

The silence from the club is deafening

Tbh… it doesn’t matter how long a lease has.. all that will happen would be the land owner (bilings) would financially pay off the current lease holder the remaining time and length left.

By starting forfeiture proceedings.

Is that a fact that you are personally aware of that a financial payment to buy out the lease is happening? On what basis would forfeiture proceedings be commenced? Are you aware of a breach of the lease terms? Or is this pure speculation and rumour mongering?

Good on Ya.

Positivity will always win in the end!

So what if it shuts or doesn’t at some unspecified time in the future.

Enjoy the beautiful grounds still while you can.

In my opinion what they need to do is admit that the site may well be developed in the near future and as such the club will close. That should be accompanied with a promise that if it does a notice period will be given and a prorated amount of the membership fee will be returned if the closure date is sooner than the end of someone’s membership period.

Based on my personal knowledge of a similar situation it is likely the developer will have an option to buy from the freeholder and the freeholder will have an option to buy out the unexpired period of the lease from the leaseholder. The option is likely to be in effect for a couple of years an can be exercised any time by giving notice which is likely to be 30, 60 or 90 days. This is only guesswork on my part but the known facts do support it.

As everyone has stated, as long as the facilities are open they should be enjoyed and as long as the leaseholder is operating they should be supported. What I can’t understand is the secrecy surrounding the potential closure as being open and honest should help generate income and help marketing & promotion rather than hindering it.

The owners must be aware that uncertainty will damage their business.

Don’t understand why they haven’t clarified the position on their website or FB page.

Must be a reason that they haven't, which makes me suspect it would not be good news.
