ID question on first visit.....

just having a conversation with a single lady.......

whenever I have been to a club I have always been asked for ID on the first visit.....

.... but she maintains that whenever she has been to a club on the first visit she has never been asked for ID....

She is adament that she will not go to a club that asks her for any ID...

1) are there any clubs that dont ask for ID on the first visit?

2) are there clubs that apply the rule differently for different sections of people.... i.e single guys do need ID, but couples and single Fems dont?

I've had to produce Id on first visit to every club I've been too except the attic.

We both have had to produce id for each of the clubs we've visited for a first time.

I know that sometimes id isn't always asked to be checked though when we've gone to organised events off here or other swinging sites wh.ch have been held at a club. Saying that we still aalways take id with us just incase we're asked for it.

Isis doesn't, neither does Partners. Chams did when I went as a couple but doesn't when I go as a single woman.

Why do clubs ask for ID?

Is it as simple as ensuring everyone is over 18 (or whatever their age requirement is) or is there more to it?

They usually do it when you join, prob for H&S records. Which is probably why women don't get asked as much as men, as they tend to have free membership. (opens can of worms, stands back)

In fact i wonder which name will they look for since i gave them a nickname...Or is it to check the age???

Not sure about the H&S but would agree most requests for ID are linked to membership. Usually single guys have to pay for membership and females and couples don't. Some clubs take your money and let you it, others like to take details as free members so they can be seen as a Private Members club or to maintain a mailing list x I can only think of one North West club that has ever asked for my ID either as a female or in a couple. A couple of others have asked for a profile name or email address x

we are a couples aways shows membership cards when we go to a club members of most in the midlands .yes the attic is one of them and no id but thats shit and not a safe place to play we think .its good that the club knows all the people in the club on that night take the attic people have tryed to force them selfs on others if you do not have a members systems this makes it hard to keep them out next time

out of three clubs I have visited in the north west, only one has asked for I.D (lifetime membership, had to fill out a form too). This was for me as a single and when I have been as a couple. One club just asks for fab username and the 3rd club was never asked.

Producing ID for me is a real pain, and deters me from clubs that demand it, for purely personal reasons.

I do visit some clubs, when there are more open access agreements. Anyone would think swinging was a really backstreet practice, almost, the way it's undertaken, and male only clubs don't have the same restrictions as standard. Maybe there is a legal need, due to their licensing, I really don't know, but it makes me feel like I live in less than a free society.

Yes, it's a real shame that swingers clubs in this country are forced to operate as private members clubs, to avoid falling foul of various archaic laws. This means they have to have a register of members, hence the request for ID. Go to Germany, France and Holland, for example, and you don't need any ID whatsoever. Which explains why they have more, better and busier clubs than we do

I'm still not sure that members clubs have to view ID, as there are lots of places, including sexual, where I've become a member and not shown ID. Amongst other things, I find it intrusive to the extent I don't like it. There are clubs that I visit where I don't show it, either because I visit as a girl, I don't know, or otherwise.

We are members at quite a lot of clubs and the majority did ask for ID on our first visit. Personally we like the fact that people have to show ID on first vist just in case there are ever any problems.

I'm still not sure that members clubs have to view ID, as there are lots of places, including sexual, where I've become a member and not shown ID. I have been in men only clubs that don't ask for ID or for membership.

Most do - but not to the degree where you have to prove it thus allowing people to provide false identities, contact details and addresses.

Like Bussy, I've been to male clubs that largely don't need it, but still operate as members clubs, so I think that it's become the ongoing norm at swingers clubs, perhaps for little reason.

If a club is getting information that is significantly more than adequate, to the point of being excessive and unreasonable for some people - I find it this way, personally - then they are perhaps in breach of data protection laws etc. It's a thin line, and clubs can seek to provide their own security, should there be any inherent dangers on their premises from members etc. I do wonder what these clubs register as their real need for such extensive information they hold with the Information Commissioner etc.

My gut feel is that if someone is significantly over 18, that they are willing to become a member and no restrcictive practices are in use, that contravene equality laws etc, then ID isn't probably required.

As someone who has been mugged, feel vulnerable on the streets, carrying valuable documents like passports, and driving ID is not something I want to do, whilst I'm traveling to clubs, let alone the intrusive nature of what I'm providing.

From comments elsewhere on Fab, I understood some swingers clubs preferred to be private members clubs as it meant they could avoid certain aspects of equalities/ disabiliy legislation.

I ve never had a proble submitting ID - tbh it means that all people in there are happy to say who they are

I've been on the scene for 5 years now and have seen a few unsavourly incidents - always good to knwo who you ve let in

Under licencing changes in 2005/2006 there is no obligation to be a private members club. We hold a premises licence and get people to book online, no need therefore for membership etc. as licencees we can control who comes in so more under our personal control xx

You don't need ID to visit a pub or nightclub so why the need at a swinging club? It's one of the reasons I've never been.

I know at xotix they were told its easier to be a private club due to the nature of the law.

They were also told by police that they must have Id and keep record of everyone coming in. They only take it on first time

I've had to show it everywhere but the attic but only on first visit.
