Staying in soho this w.e

Suggestions for clubs, cinemas, etc?

It's all Chinese restaurants nowadays.

No more government surplus shops to pretend to be looking at!

It’s lost a lot of its charm. Some decent bars but overall lost its atmosphere. The downstairs club at village can be ok, but I’d walk down to Charing x go to Circa

Everywhere in soho has a mix of straight and gay people in it. If being in a gay bar bothers you soho might not be your best bet tbh.

Soho isn't really the best for nightclubs as the buildings are old and quite small. Although a few places stay open late (Be At One for example).

It's much better for quirky, charismatic bars such as The Toucan, Bradley's Spanish Bar (not technically in Soho but close), The French House etc.

Soho is a very compact area so best thing is to have a stroll around and see what takes your fancy. The most lively parts are Greek, Dean, Old Compton Streets which are all interesting for people watching.

The only cinema you get there is the Odeon in Leicester Sq, sadly all the porn cinemas have closed long ago.

I remember Soho in the late 60's when the Metropolitan Police Vice Squad was totally corrupt and taking backhanders from the bookshop and cinema owners. You could get anything you liked! As as for the strip clubs - they were naked and they danced!
