"Hi all! Wasn't quite sure how best to title this, but I'm a wheelchair user (weak legs after an accident some years back) that would love to check out some clubs. The main issue is I don't always know how easily I can get around a building (narrow doorways/small bathrooms/steps are my mortal enemy!) so my best bet is going there to see for myself. I would particularly like to check out the Hellfire club, and due to work I'm only really able to go on weekends. I was wondering if a) any wheelchair users have been and what their experience was; and b) if any lovely women in a similar boat would be willing to accompany me just to check it out (a little nervous to just show up on my own first time). Apologies if asking this is poor etiquette - not super familiar with the rules!" We’re big fans of Hellfire as those who know us will appreciate. The club areas downstairs are easily accessible but to be fair, the main part of socialising happens upstairs in the lounge and bar. There are also playrooms and toilets upstairs. The steps are steep and just a standard width but do have railings each side. The club is super friendly and would no doubt welcome you but access would be the issue. It is possible to pull oneself upstairs in a chair (if you're strapped in and there's handrails). Obviously recommend someone behind you just in case. I keep meaning to try doing it myself. There are toilets upstairs and downstairs at Hellfire..
the main problem would be that drinks and bar and socialising is mainly done upstairs.

So that wheelchair users can access them of course."Being a wheelchair user doesn't automatically mean you need a hoist to get into a hot tub or pool. But other than Quest, which advertises itself as adapted for wheelchair users, we understand, no other club has design features to cater to disabled people. | |||

Just have visions of tumbling head first down them :D I could bump myself up the stairs I suppose but might take me a while. Something I'll definitely consider though. | |||

My upper body strength is good but ashamed to say I've never tried pulling myself upstairs! Just have visions of tumbling head first down them :D

Various organisers hold parties there. House of Poitier, HKOP. Thinking about it… it’s a gravel drive and there are two of three steps leading up to the house. "The play areas downstairs are couples only but the staff are lovely and I’m sure they would be happy to make an exception! If u go on a dungeon night most people will be downstairs anyway so may be a good time to try it out! | |||

The OP is about wheelchair access and his profile describes having no use of his legs. I'm going to suggest steps are (unless someone is willing to carry him up), a inaccessible situation. There's no difference between accessible/fully accessible. If you can't get in through the front door... Also, there are no discounts for only being able to access a small part of a club, if you're restricted to one floor of a three floor establishment, that's also hardly accessible either. Plus loo and changing issues, if one cannot stand unaided. | |||

Well I hope you don't do anything too strenuous in the lovely clubs you visit. I'm sure these establishments are equipped with defibrillators and have medically trained staff. "It isn't me who has heart failure. And anyone could be taken ill with a medical emergency, at any time. I'm sure the person with heart failure will pace themselves. Perhaps a quick shufti at the NHS page on heart failure might educate? | |||
