How is Xtasia doing.....So Far?

About 6 months ago, Xtasia was taken over by the current owners, Paul & Flirt.

At the time, I posted a thread which drew lots of responses asking what people would want from the new owners and what they'd want to change about the club.

I wrote it as a current member of the club and as someone who liked Xtasia but was finding it harder to justify going because of falling numbers.

I thought it might be interesting to invite people to look again at the club to see if people are aware of whats happening there and indeed has any opinions changed.

At the time the biggest call out was to clean the club up and to have showers that worked, this was done within a couple of weeks. Then there was lots of talk about structural changes to the club, and the first part of that was delivered in a conversion of the old couples room into a smaller couples only room, a maze, a camera room, a shadow room and the red room of pain which had some BDSM gear aimed I suspect at the playful end of that scene rather than the hardcore end. The upstairs area was planned to be a chill out area with it's own bar, though when I last visited that part wasn't open properly, it would be interesting to know if thats changed.

They introduced several new groups to the club like "Exchangists" for example and retained some old favorites like the BMFC nights. They also introduced a totally new website. There was all sorts of things that people wanted, probably the most extreme being a Foam Party which amazingly they actually held and have a repeat planned before Xmas. And they have opened up New Years Eve to all the club members rather than restricting it to couples only which I personally see as a positive thing to do.

Paul & Flirt posted their attendance numbers for Halloween weekend and some other info as follows:

"Numbers are now really picking up on Fridays and Saturdays from the past. This weekend we had 134 in on friday, and 176 in on Saturday as a guide for you all. It is event dependant, so look at our web site for specific info. The Tuesdays is all still new, and if looking for numbers, we'd suggest other venues, if looking to chill, chat to us about scene and plans, then you know where to find us. We've also taken the Bi bit out of the requirement for Tuesday,,,we're just open, clothed and casual."

My current thoughts on the club is that the new rooms do seem to be good, but the club seemed to be missing what I'd describe as some open playrooms enabling couples to mix in an open sexual playzone with singles (as opposed to the social side in the bar and the chill out zone). It's like it needs some rooms that are similar to the new couples room that are open to all. I have to admit that I did like the old glory hole "Feel Free" box and while the glory holes in the maze are good, I do actually think that box was a good feature of the club and I regret that that no longer seems to be there, and the darkroom seemed to be lost when I last visited even though it was there still, it just doesn't seem to fit in to where the chill zone would be. Because the club didn't have these facilities, it did feel a little bit like the club was looking to cater primarily for couples though that might be because the club plans to introduce other areas and it's slightly unbalanced at the moment. I'd also like the club to think about making the occasional Saturday night a night where couples could invite a single male, thus making that entrance group a 3some, and it would be interesting to see what other people think of that.

Overall I like this club a lot and do think that Paul & Flirt have done a good job. It's certainly made me feel comfortable enough to invite a new to clubs couple to the New Years Eve party night and I'm looking forward to the FAB social and Foam Party before Xmas.

So maybe you'd like to post your views on how The New Xtasia is progressing .....

I had never been under the old owners, so I can't say how much of an improvement has been made by Paul & Flirt. I have been a couple of time so far and intend going again next month and with a bit of luck for the next foam party and New Years Eve as well.

I'm sure that Xtasia will pop in and give a bit more of an update and also comment on the OP. The first time I visited the club was the night the new downstairs playrooms were opened for the first time, people I spoke to on the night said this was a great improvement.

I know that Paul & Flirt have been concentrating on getting more people into the club lately rather than doing too many more improvements, I can imagine it is a fine balance, if they don't get more people in, how can they afford more improvements. I look forward to them popping in and letting us know any future plans, as they did with the new playrooms, showers, new website etc.

Best wishes to both of them and look forward to getting down to the club again soon

Tempted to let it run for a bit to see other comments, however will quickly pick up on the "incorrect" comments above.

The open area is still here. All of the top lounge, or "social area" as we now call it reverts to a massive play area around midnight. There's no stopping most people, and now we have a live feed from below, its turning into quite an attraction.

The grope box is still here, in the smoke area on the way to the skip!! 20 year old DNA didn't fit within the new clean environment, sorry. We have heard comments re the maze not quite achieving the same effect, and hope to bring a new feature to the club shortly to match

Those who signed up for our new newsletter would have known we ran a Saturday once a month for invited singles. It flopped. Regular Saturday couples stayed away, and not one couple turned up with a single in tow. It won't be repeated, and with 80% reading our newletters, it wasn't for the lack of advertising, it just wasn't wanted by our members.

The obvious exception to this was NYE when we felt it was only right to offer it to single members as well, on the basis of them being fully paid members, and it wasn't a Saturday night. Interestingly, of our bookings to date, only 1 single male booking has been made, by the OP, I guess showing us how many singles can actually get out on NYE to play. An interesting statistic.

Thanks for all the rest of the comments, will let it run and pop back to answer if needed.

Paul & Flirt

Thanks for correcting my errors in my OP, and good to know that is the case re the Social area.

Looking forward to seeing what that new feature is though.

I'm shocked by the stat for NYE, the couple who I am going with will just have to look after me....

"will do x"

They are doing a social from on here next month as well as a few other things, so might be worth checking them out and popping back again if you like it (which I#m sure you will).

We recently visited for the first time post refurb and really liked the changes they had made downstairs. Certainly introduces a new dimension and more options for fun exploration.

Interested to read the owners comments on bringing a single guy along on a Saturday as knew I'd read it was going to happen and was looking recently as we wanted to bring a friend to see this Saturday. Surprised to hear it didn't work out but suppose the numbers reflect the general opinion.

Delighted to hear NYE is an open night and will probably tempt us to come party!

Another area for discussion for you, for us, is events. We're trying to think "outside the box" on what we can do with all this wonderful room to be naughty in, and would love to hear some ideas.

This Saturday night we're doing a Hog Roast to celebrate bonfire night, seeing how there's no room for fireworks, lol.

The foam parties should really work for us, with everything already in place to make them work easily.

Fancy dress already exists once a month through another sites evenings...so what else can we do?

We're bringing in guest shops to show of their wears once a month to you all.

We're exploring naked luminous paint parties as an idea.

Suggestions on a postcard please, lol...nah, drop us a line in private with some ideas if you have any good ones. We'll do what we can to make things work.

Sorry, Post Hijacked a little, back to topic.

You can get a room for £29 if you book far enough in advance, but of course nights like NYE the hotels always hike the prices up

Have never got anywhere near £29 and have booked way in advance many times we've even had the receptionist checking out Fridays in advance to show us how to get that price but to no avail

Just so your aware, The Premier Inn is currently available on 30 November for the Fab Social night at Xtasia for £29 if you book in advance, ie pre pay and also on 21st December for the Foam Party, so it's often available at cheaper artes if your prepared to prepay.

Should add we booked ours following the link on Xtasia's website, so it may be that you get a 'coupon rate' that way..?

If you are going through the Premier Inn website direct, then you will certainly pay whatever rate they set that day.

I've paid £29 for a Friday nights stay, had to book and pay in advance, but I knew I was going no matter what so that didn't bother me. You can't get this rate on the flexible bookings which you can cancel up until 12pm on the day of booking btu if you are willing to pay in advance they are often available at this rate or slightly more.

We would just like to start by saying we have been going to this club for around 8 years or so and its defo our favourite place. We have seen it at its glory and seen it going down hill. Now that paul and flirt have taken over they have made vast improvements and the place is getting better. We feel the playrooms are great with little twists and very relaxed.

The unfortunate part is that the club is so outdated and so behind compared to other clubs that the new owners have got a big job on their hands. Other clubs have had playrooms which are lockable etc for a long time and hence _tasia has lost a lot of people to them.

We know rome wasnt built in a day so im sure _tasia will be back to its former glory! If i can also take this opportunity to make a few suggestions than firstly i would like to say that the social area would do wonders with little themes. Maybe each seating area can look more like booths with different decor in each. A lace curtain in front with little quirks in each booth. Maybe some can even have a pole ? i know its a social area for people to meet but some themes with a talking point could be great.

The foam party is defo a winner and im sure owners are getting bombarded with ideas so i will leave it at that for now

It's the 'feelings' towards this club in particular, as displayed in posts like the above over the 6/7 months we have been on Fabs as a couple, that have persuaded us to give it a try at New Year for Perky's first time at a club.

We (well ... I actually) have sat and watched comments for and against on a large number of clubs all over the country before we bit the bullet. We would have been prepared to travel anywhere in the UK for our first time, even though we have a number of clubs much closer to us, but it was the support of long standing members and their desire to see it turn around which 'swung it' (no pun int. - honestly!) for us. Well, that and a bit of persuasion from one quarter... You know who you are!

The new owners have an excellent track record with their previous venue, and have clearly wasted no time at all in getting things sorted and, from what we have heard about recent attendance numbers, it's effect is almost immediate. Obviously there is a business imperative behind it (the place has GOT to be profitable) and you cannot pour an unlimited amount of money in without seeing a return within a time period you can finance, BUT... everything seems to be going in the right direction and the previous clientele seem to be totally behind the changes/improvements and 'want' (no flippin italics available! Grrr!) the club to return to it's former 'glory'.. or maybe a 'new glory'..?

No single club can satisfy everyone, but everything sounds like things are going in the right direction, and we are really looking forward to seeing it for ourselves at the end of the year.

Pork ..... Oh, and Perky lol!

West Bromwich

We are negoitating with premier Inn on prices for New Year Eve at the moment. If you want to ensure a room, please do the following. Go onto their web site and book at the High Street West Bromwich hotel for NYE at their "Premier Flexible" rate. It might well be high at the moment, but we are trying to agree a £49 rate for the night for our guests. Once we get this approved, you can then contact the hotel and get your price amended. If you book the other Premier saver rate, then the hotel can not change it. If the negotiation fails, then we all have until 1pm on the 31st to cancel and find alternatives, so the more of you that book now, the greater our bargaining power before the night!! They won't want to be empty on the biggest night of the year. Hoping for agreement from them by Tuesday next week, 6th Nov.
