Based on people's experiences what do fellow fabbers feel are the key elements of a good and successful swingers club that enables a good night out?

From our experiences and observations, the main focus of clubs is to create a: safe, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere for women and couples. While single men should feel welcome with out feeling like they are club's cash cows.

A new visitors/ members induction is essential. With clear rules on phone use and clear statements about consent and conduct. Club rules must be visible in a number of locations, straightforward and fairly applied by attentive staff.

I would suggest that minimum expected facilities are:

Licensed bar.

Changing room and showers.

A pub style cosy lounge area with music that doesn't drown out conversation.

At least two locklable private play rooms.

At least one open play area.

At least one couples only and invited singles play area.

4 seater hot tub with clear rules banning play in the tub.

Free condoms lube and wet wipes in all play areas.

A BDSM room or area with well designed benches and equipment.

Are video screens displaying porn necessary?

Parking that does not leave people worried about the safety of their cars.

Out door smoking and social area.

Other aspects are:

A clear sence of good upkeep and attention to hygge and cleanliness.

At least one couples and single ladies only eveing per week.

A clear statement that the club is LGBTQ friendly and safe space for the trans community.

Other Aspects

What should be the balance between themed events and more general nights?

Should clubs require membership?

Should there be prebooking to avoid over crowding?

Should dressing down be optional or required even in purely social areas?

What are other people's perspectives on this?

I'm not asking about what would be a person's dream or ideal club. But rather, bearing in mind the typical space footprint of UK Swinger's club and the prevalent swinging scene / culture. What in your minds are the key elements and reasonable expectations for club patrons?

The most important ingredient is a good crowd of friendly people. No matter how amazing the facilities are, if the other clubbers are unfriendly or too cliquey, there just isn't going to be a good vibe.

That's an excellent point. Thabk you. What can the club staff do to enable or facilitate a friendly non cliquey atmosphere?

I don't agree it is essential to have a licensed bar. A lot of people prefer to bring their own as it's cheaper

We think good hosts are essential. Good hosts create the atmosphere, decide who gets in and introduce people to one another.

We've been to nice clubs with unwelcoming hosts and it puts us off going back.

On the other hand, any club with friendly, welcoming hosts would encourage us to return.

A nice buffet helps too!

What makes a great club is one that offers what you are looking for.

What is essential to one couple will be a deal breaker for others; it's why it's impossible to decide which club is best.

So for us it's a naturist spa where singles leave at 6pm on a weekend.

Agree with a licensed bar not being necessary. If anything I imagine the license fees adds to the overheads of the club so pushes up prices, plus it gives you a defined limit of how much you can drink (d*unk usually doesn't equal sexy).

Hot tub again I would argue isn't necessary, but definitely a bonus.

Other things I would add

Good sized beds that you can walk around (3 sides at least) and are easy to clean afterwards.

Subtle lighting - no-one looks amazing under flourescent tubes!

Discreet location - walking into a club in the middle of a town is going to put off quite a few locals in case they're seen.

And one I'd love to see - gender equal pricing. I know the ethos is to invite women in for couples, and keep single guys to a select few, but couldn't this be done in other ways?

A licensed bar is not necessary. Taking your own alcohol, and selling soft drinks and mixers at the bar is preferred by many, especially people on a budget.

A tour including a talk through club rules should ensure that everyone is aware of how the club works and etiquette. I've been to a couple of clubs with typed notices at everyday door way and personally found it off putting.

Most important... fabulous friendly hosts who mingle and take a genuine interest in the people attending and who encourage regulars to be welcoming and friendly with newcomers. The atmosphere and general vibe in the club stems from the staffs attitude.

A car park is essential for us, as we're 50+ miles from any club.

Also no dress-down rule, we like to dress up, not be forced to undress on arrival. And finally enough staff to watch out for everyone's safety.

It's interesting see the other perspectives. Especially the comments about staff. But I do have to agree that the attitude and approach of the staff does make a huge difference.

For me;

Outstanding staff, and woman (maybe couple?) owned. It does make a difference who is in charge. Rules talks, walkthrough, staff who will listen when you need them to. This all comes from an owner who leads from the front and creates the culture.

Don’t care whether the bar is licenced or not, but I do care about the layout. I like seating arrangements that let me talk to groups of people at once.

Not a big fan of multiple couple only playrooms, it makes me feel devalued and clubs can already be intimidating for a solo woman.

Strongly prefer rules on dressing down in playrooms.

Don’t want free condoms, but if I ever found a club that had a latex-free condom only policy, that would make me so happy.

Membership is more or less essential for me.

Hot tubs and dungeons are great, but they need to be the right ones. Simple and easy to use. In particular, dungeon equipment needs to work for a variety of heights.

This, to a T! The club we go to regularly is not a licensed club, hasn't got expensive furniture all over it and everyone is welcome both nights (with single men having to book). But it has attentive and friendly staff, and the people! Not to mention a massive hot tub

. Even on a not so busy night, the atmosphere can be electric and intimate.
