I’ve got a few hours to kill near Derby and wondering whether to spend a bit of time at the Attic Cinema this afternoon - any feedback on others experience welcomed.

We've only ever been in the evenings, but we're have friends who go during the day and they always seem to have a good time. Guess it depends on who's in at the time.

We are regulars on a Saturday afternoon - like any club it varies from day to day.

But we always have lots of fun whenever we are there

There was a few notices about dress code. I didn’t pay too much attention to them as I went there from work, so was more formal in attire.

Hmm guess I’d better put my smart gear on then just to be on the safe side

It’s a bit far to drive just to be turned away lol

Indeed, the website states, strictly NO trainers or torn jeans (smart jeans are acceptable).

The cinema while it's nice if a gentlemen is dressed up, the dress code is not an issue for the cinema

Just heard the site The Attic is on has been sold to property developers so the attic will be closing - bad news!. Hope they manage to relocate to somewhere else in Derby , though with having to reapply for licences, finding the right site, fitting out etc... it may disappear for sometime

Its not closing...

No tenants will be leaving the estate..

Its just an ownership change("

In direct response to the comments that the Attic is closing down, let's just say immediately that this is not happening.Having spoken to Ron and Dave today it was felt a few things should be outlined. For several months the club owners have been aware that other landlords have been looking to purchase the site from the existing owners. This is finally happening but in reality for the foreseeable future this has little bearing on the club itself. The club remains owned by the same people and the same staff will continue to provide their ever so joyful professional services. The owners themselves have always had the hindsight like any business to plan ahead of the game like anyone would. Expansion rather than closure has always been the main thought on managements minds and even prior to lockdown new sights were looked at for this. Any redevelopment of the current site will take a period of time to move forward and one way or the other the club will move forward. The relationship between the local authority and the club remains at its strongest. Of course should anything change the clients would be informed acccordingly. Thanks as always for reading... Keep visiting and coming on the tours.... Tony

..Not for long , site has been bought by ALB group , mid term plan is for it to be converted into apartments.
