Hi. Has anyone experienced clique-iness at clubs? It's a topic that is sometimes discussed in the lounge/bar areas. Personally I have never experienced this.

Yes Cliques exists, we've been on many club nights and seen it. Some clubs are local for local people! Fortunately many swingers are friendly and will talk to anybody

They are alive and thriving and in my opinion they do diminish some club nights.

I have been to some clubs where the clicks change the dynamics of the interactions and I think they discourage play at times.

This put us off going clubs the last time we went it just felt so clicky. Seams to be a very popular club so might be us! But we haven’t had a problem anywhere else.

We have felt 'ignored' occasionally before, but rationalise it like this:

-Friends meeting friends in a club environment isn't necessarily a clique, but when the drinks are flowing and a group are clearly into each other it may come across as so.

We have always found (certainly at our favourite club) that if you make the effort to engage with people, the conversation soon flows.

Mr PD will chat to anyone and particularly likes to talk to people who look like they're on their own or first timers...he swears it's his gregarious nature rather than wanting to get in their pants!! PDx

Are people in the bars discussing cliques actually a clique themselves ?

People always gravitate towards those they know, trust and feel secure with, especially in clubs. Why wouldn't they? It's safe and sensible. Who would walk into a pub and expect to just sit down with a group of strangers and be welcomed into their discussion? Cliques are just groups of people who feel happy being and maybe playing together. It's not an indictment of everyone outside that group but it is their prerogative.
