"I had just been considering going with a friend - and now after reading this very thread I am not so sure based on comments from those who seem to have recently participated or intend to go. "If you don't get what you're after", "it will encourage more play less hanging around", "shame that couples sometimes feel uncomfortable when ... followed around". I'm sorry, what? When is it EVER OK to follow people around?! Seriously? I started planning and thinking how lovely it would be to go to a spa, be naked and relaxed and now I am full of doubt. If harrassment is what I have to look forward to then there is hardly any point going to all the trouble of getting there! And this literally when my friends had to leave another naturist place just a few days ago after barely 40 minutes because they were feeling unsafe. It is as if a large number of men who attend naturist places wish to have the places only to themselves and are determined to force women to leave - because that is the atmosphere that my friends have been greeted with and I have experienced numerous times at Rio's. I had to be constantly alert and protect myself from predatory behaviour and I am really not sure that I am ready to have to do that right now. What a disappointment!" I had been at BGHS twice before during the day, as a single woman. I can’t say I ever felt unsafe, as there is always staff around and they have a zero tolerance policy, but yes, it is annoying that fully grown men follow you everywhere when you just want to have a soak to relieve stress and in my case aching muscles following marathon training. They start talking to you whennI clearly did not want to talk, I just wanted to relax! However, this weekend I was there with a male friend and the experience is soooooo different! It is light, relaxed, wonderful. Other couples just do their own thing or they chat if you talk to them... my friend wouldn’t shut up. capacity is also very reduced so only 4 people or 2 bubbles in each jacuzzi or steam room/sauna etc, so it’s more relaxed. I think this was the best experience for me. The problem is, of course, finding someone to go with if I want to go regularly...

I had to be constantly alert and protect myself from predatory behaviour and I am really not sure that I am ready to have to do that right now. What a disappointment! I wouldn't say that was our experience at all there. The spa and the play areas/rest rooms are on different floors so if you're not interested in that element you don't have to go up there. The spa we felt was very relaxing and enjoyable. Yes the men do look at you, but for us everyone was friendly, engaged in polite conversation and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all despite going on a day where we were heavily outnumbered by men. Up in the restrooms there was some loitering going on, we had one man who was a bit keen that we didn't want to join us but went away after we said no. " Thank you, this is very helpful

I suppose I can always ask the staff members to deal with creeps, the problem of course is that I shouldn't have to in the first place - as you mention, having your relaxing mood ruined is the whole problem. But at least knowing how good the staff are at dealing with harrassment helps.

I agree it's quite a different feeling when it's couples only. Before the pandemic, I used to go regularly on Saturdays with a friend (now sadly unavailable). We used to like to stay for the afternoon and evening when it was all one session. Before the single guys had to leave, we pretty much stuck together like glue in case she received unwanted attention. After that, it felt so much more relaxed that we didn't need to worry about always doing exactly the same thing together.

"Hi all, we are going on Sunday afternoon / evening. Really looking forward to our visit. Intend to take our camper, is there any suitable places to park up nearby? " I often see campers parked a couple of miles away at the racecourse,
