Number of Singles

Hey everyone,

We visited a club (Partners) for the very first time, we knew there would of course be a number of single men there but we were a little surprised that couples were totally outnumbered by single men!

just wondered if that was the norm?

Yes. Apart from when I go, then its hardly any single men and loads of couples.

depends on the club, some only allow a limited amount or are very well vetted.. some allow many in to make up the extra cash they need to stay in business.

most clubs do a couples only night and we went to partners a few weeks ago on a weds and it was mainly couples so it must vary on each night

If its a free for all night (like a Friday) where single guys are allowed quite often they will massive outnumber the couples there by quite a bit.

Best bet is to go on a night just for couples/single fems or one that has a restricted number of men on a night.

Lots of clubs apply the above so its just about finding them

We go to Libs on a Friday night, single guys are allowed in.

They are limited in number though, far more couples there, so must be at the discretion of each club.

Actually I think it depends on the dynamics of the club itself, though there will obviously be quirky nights where numbers are imbalanced at any club, for example,I have never been but have heard that Chameleons in Darleston has a fairly strict policy on single guys attending, yet I have seen people say that there were a lot of singles at Chams when they visited.

If the club is a that attracts quite a lot of couples normally, then despite there being a lot of males in, the mix of people rends to change the focus and feel.

An example would be Xtasia in West Brom, when the new owners took over they made public in one of the forums the attendance figures on a night I was there. I personally had felt there was more single males there than normal but the actual figure was 29 couples and 19 single guys on that night. The same club on another night might have 50 plus couples in but most likely the same number of single males and therefore you simply don't notice us single guys as much and everyone feels more comfortable.

The number of single guys varies according to a number of factors, and maybe someone on here who's up on maths can write an equation that describes it all. Basically it is a combination of the following factors...

1. The availablilty of membership (e.g. Chams) will govern the number of members but not the frequency that a member attends. Don't think that this is any pointer towards how many guys to expect.

2. Price, you'd think that it would make a difference but I wonder. There are plenty of people who opt to pay £40 to go to the Private Club than to pay £25 to go to other clubs in the area (as a local example) So maybe that's not so much of an issue.

3. Recent experience. A guy's willingness to go again will be largely influenced by how their last night there was. Warning, don't let "beginniers luck" influence this though. There is a temptation to "do well" on your first night and go back again and again thinking that every night will be like that...it won't be!

4. The number of guys there. This kind of self-regulates itself. Most guys I think would prefer it where the ratio of couples to singles was favourable, so the more guys that go, the worse that ratio becomes, so they look for better alternatives. I've been told great things about some clubs, and when asked I get told that there are loads of guys there... well mixing it with "loads of guys" in towels, isn't my idea of my favourite night out, so will look for somewhere else or wait for it to calm down.

5. Swings and roundabouts. If I'm told that last Friday was great at Club ABC, my way of thinking is that the next week might be a) full of extra than usual men because they hear what I hear, and b) probably a lot quieter due to the law of averages. There is something to say for trying a club that sounds quiet, so as to get the benefit of "the rebound" and then catch it on a goood night.

6. and of course the usual things that occupy people's attentions (football on the telly, holiday times, family times etc)
