Just wondering why there are more Gay saunas that cater for gay and bi men to meet and play than there are for straight and bi's?

Maybe because more men go to saunas than women ? Like there are more men on Fab than women.

"Just wondering why there are more Gay saunas that cater for gay and bi men to meet and play than there are for straight and bi's?"

Can't the bi men go into the gay and bi saunas?

And why would a straight man want to go to a gay sauna ?

To have a sauna maybe, are there any straight saunas other than the ones attached to hotels etc, where you can just pay and go in to use the facilities.

Two different things entirely. There are probably more sauna opportunities for straights in health clubs, spas and upmarket hotels, but sexual contact is not on. Mixed straight M/F saunas seem to be more popular on the continent.

While gay saunas are definitely a venue for sexual opportunities for gay/bi guys as well as enjoying the facilities, very few of them have mixed bi M/F events

The gay/bi saunas are probably a mix of things - the USA had a history of them, that possibly influenced here.

A lot of people were closeted, a lot of people perhaps didn't have somewhere to accom for sex and being in a minority allowed people to be together, without needing to play guessing games, over who may bi or gay, when the wrong come on to a straight guy could cause problems.

Lol Lammmm no reason why you can't do that you don't have to play but beware you might be on a slippery slope lol. The idea of a good sauna and steaming seems like a big desire at the moment. Only got a shower at home wife took out bath cos I was spending too long in it lol not had a good soaking since going in the sea some months ago.

Quite a few sex clubs do have sauna cabins. So if you go on 'straight' nights you could experience mixed sex sauna fun then.

Because we know how to have more fun

Kidding. Not sure, but I would make a tues that all the saunas originated from what it was all secret

The issue here is that "Gay Sauna" isn't really an accurate representation of what they are. They are more like Swing Clubs for Gay and Bi men. The Sauna is only part of that.

There are more gay saunas simply because of the history of gay rights. When being gay was illegal, men needed safe spaces to go to meet other men, so establishments were built under the pretence of being something more innocent, e.g. bookstores, nightclubs (with a dark-room), and saunas/bathhouses.

I'm glad someone said it, too early for me

I love having a sauna. But they are at my gym and a health spa. I wonder if there are any straight or anyone equivalents apart from Bristol street gardens in Brighton. I’d love to go to one and enjoy a sauna with the chance of more. Rather than a full on club or male only sauna. Are there any of these up north? And yes, I’m sure it’ll still mainly be full of men!

Exactly. There used to be a great club near us (Pennant Hall) that also went by 'Jack's Health and Hydro'. It had a huge jacuzzi, steam room and sauna as well as very dark, PVC covered "treatment rooms". Really miss that place.

Seems to me males tend to be more promiscuous (in general) and many people are still not able to express their sexuality comfortably (or even safely) in their general life and day to day spaces. So it only seems natural that there are so many of the places. Everyone needs a space to be them self, be them self and be safe.

IF it reopens, Touch in Swindon would be worth checking out.

Bristol Street Gardens isn't straight, it's mixed. Probably because its based in Brighton you'll actually see more man with man action in the playrooms than other similar venues

So you go to both straight and gay saunas??.

Why do you say this isn't true?

It is true if you limit it to saunas that allow sexual activities, ie have playroom(s)

If you start adding adding all the hotel spas (which are straight in all uses of the word) then it probably isn't

Never been, but the thought of visiting has been playing on my mind. I’ve no doubt the whore from within will soon have me down on my knees servicing cock.

Only one I know of is The Locker Room in London SE11, if anyone’s been please do let me know if it’s worth a visit when they reopen.

Because men are far more promiscuous basically.

Historically no, but more recently mixed nights have been introduced in some, for example check out the excellent greenhouse in various places.

Believe it or not they wouldn't allow tvs in at one stage...The dark old days are now behind us

I doubt they’d want to go. It takes a strong stomach to stand in something slimey and then just keep on walking.
