Not sure about your business analysis....he has handed over the reins and his business partners will take this forward. The true test will be Covid which will be the make or break of most clubs.

Of course they knew. They knew before the old club was shut down. He will be making money from the club if it ever reopens it doors. Im amazed people have even tried to defend him and those around him. And lets not forget that there would have been many other things that went on on top of what he was convicted of.

A lady friend of mine was a daytime regular since the new venue opened but has said she won't be going back, as a few on this thread have also said. I wonder how much this will affect their membership when and if they re open?

I only went once and had no idea about this. I found him to be rude, aggressive and generally not a very nice person.

I am shocked that he was allowed to continue working in an environment like K/AbFab with the type of charge hanging over him. This makes me think that their safeguarding rules are pretty poor and I certainly will not return - even though I loved the pool!

If he had been found innocent there would have still been people on here saying there is no smoke without fire.

WE have never met him that we are aware of? and were regulars at both venues but never heard anything from anyone about him being charged so was it common knowledge?

Can't say we won't go there again if it reopens after restrictions are lifted , maybe do a little research if he still has any business interests in the club ?

I’m sure he’s taken legal advice and has ‘no business interest’ in the place but his long term partner has. He’s either gifted it to them for no consideration or any profits go into a nice little pot for future use. He was convicted on multiple counts, he can always appeal. Good luck with that

Someone said on another thread that he he signed it over to the Mrs and he became a employee, 2 years ago. Around about the time he was arrested, if that isn’t helping him cover I dunno what it. I won’t be back there

There is another limited company he remains active in that is from the old kestrel days. I don’t know how the finances split at the new venue but this existing company is still active so could be involved. PlEase note ‘could’. I don’t know personally just what’s available publicly.

What about abusing your position of power and trust?

Regardless of whether the VICTIMS (and they are victims due to their age at the time) were kicking and screaming OR going along willingly.... it's sexual assault. It's child abuse.

A mistake is not asking someone their age, or assuming they're of legal age.

Knowingly abusing your position is predatory, it's heinous.

I think the fact that you worked there and you had no idea what’s actually true just goes to show that Graham was very good at keeping things secret that perhaps it’s possible if wife / partner and business partners didn’t know anything about his past until he was arrested.I think that with this scandal and Covid19 the club will find it very difficult to survive especially under the current management as mud sticks. I only attend once back in June or July 2019

I can only agree with Mrs Tand on that as Graham seemed to be a nice guy and a great host at the club. I used to be a regular in the old Kestrel, and never seen him rude to anyone.

However, in the lights of the current news, that doesnt matter at all anymore... Psychopaths and predators are often behave as nice guys. But I can easily imagine that his staff were not aware of his past at all.

Anyway, anyone knows how old were his victims? Be fair, I remember back at my school how did many of my 17-18 years old female classmates flirt with young fit PE teachers, only 6-8 years older than them... One of them even became a couple right after graduation, but everyone knew already what was going on for years.

Don`t take it wrong, using your trusted position as a teacher is still unacceptable, but a mid-twenties teacher who goes after a 17 year old is still not okay at all, but not a pedophile by law. If the victims were younger, then I didn`t say anything, that`s disgusting.

For sure, 12 years in jail for a 68 years old as a rapist is probably worse than capital punishment...

I’ve sat on a jury that dealt with a paedophile case involving multiple girls. One individual groomed them before being caught in a hotel room with the girls.

Grooming is not a mistake, it’s calculated and heinous behaviour of the worst kind. That a teacher did it adds to the disgust many rightfully feel.

Never went back after they got raided and closed down. This story means I won’t support Kestrels / AbFabs but God knows the area badly needs a good clean club.

If I was under suspicion of theft, I would be suspended pending further investigation. That's s_andard practice.

I would expect nothing less.

For a club to allow someone under suspicion of such a heinous crime to continue working there, regardless of the time frame, it makes them utterly irresponsible and just as corrupt in my mind.

Swingers on the whole are frowned upon by wider society, swingers are already seen as perverts, risk takers and pond scum.

Surely the club would be doing everything in their power to dispell these thoughts? They'd be acting as responsibly as humanly possible to raise the profile of swingers and clubs from scum bag sex fiends to "normal" people, but no.... they behaved in a way that will solidify the views of those on the outside.

They owed that much to themselves, their customers and the community as a whole. They failed on every level.

I would expect nothing less.

For a club to allow someone under suspicion of such a heinous crime to continue working there, regardless of the time frame, it makes them utterly irresponsible and just as corrupt in my mind.

Swingers on the whole are frowned upon by wider society, swingers are already seen as perverts, risk takers and pond scum.

I don't think anyone is blaming the employees of the club. More the management and those who were involved in the transfer of ownership etc.

The crime what we talk about is probably the most disgusting that a man can do, and I have a feeling what waits for him in the jail is the hell on Earth. And if the judge`s verdict is right, then he deserves it.

But I`d not judge anyone else without knowing all circumstances.

Don`t forget, he had another case on the court, been ordered to pay some £45K coz of breaching licensing laws at the old Kestrel. (google it, it was also in the news). He could easily use that case to cover the main crime, and tell his management (even his girlfriend) that he needs to step back to protect the company against his personal bankruptcy. I don`t say it happened like this, I don`t know any more about the case just I`ve read here, but for me it would make sense.

So I`d not rush to blame anyone else around him, not even his GF, as you can`t be sure whether they were aware of it or not. Imagine what does she goes through now if she didn`t know about it...

That doesn't make any sense as the two matters are completely different and separate and people can deal with multiple issues at the same time, especially serious ones.

In addition the timeline wouldn't support it either as the original Thames Valley Police investigation took place in 2017 and it was because of that publicity that other victims then came forward and he was arrested in July 2018.

I never went to the old Kestrels I went just once to the new Kestrels July 2019 and I was impressed by the swimming pool and cinema room and there was other work to be done which I thought would make it even better and from what others said the work had been done and it was better.My plan was to go occasionally as it’s quite a trek via public transport from my part of North London.However after some soul searching I don’t think I will be going again as the crimes that Graham has been sentenced for committed from a position of trust and responsibilities as well as the fact that there is a possibility he still has a stake in the place by passing his share to his partner / wife make it impossible for me to help line his pockets.As I only planned to go maybe 6-10 times a year I am sure I will be of no great loss to the owners money wise.

What this man has done is truly despicable and he deserves everything he gets.

The question now should be what the other owners of the club knew and when. Also is he still an owner or going to receive money indirectly. As far as I am aware this case was not common knowledge till the conviction so he could have kept the matter quiet until now.

I would suggest perhaps a statement from them may be helpful

See my previous post.

My unders_anding is that he was investigated for a previous similar offence back in 2017 and the publicity surrounding that case is what brought forward more girls who had also been sexually assaulted by him at the school and that was rge basis of the recent court appearances. That fact is stated in several of the reports on the current case and if the publicity was enough to bring forward so many other girls then I would imagine it was known to his close associates

I`m not sure about the publicity of previous claims from 2017. Google doesnt forget, and if i google his name, this case comes up and the licensing issue with old Kestrel, where he was ordered to pay £45K.

If similar sexual offence claims would`ve been published in media against him in 2017, I can`t imagine how it did not spread at least as a gossip amongst the club`s customers. If those claims were not in the news, potentially he could kept them in secret even from his closest partners. And could easily tell them, that he needs to step back from being a shareholder/director coz of the £45K charge for breaching licensing issues and not mentioning the main crime.

Again, it`s only my theory, but I think we should not accusing potentiallyto innocent people that they tried shelter a rapist.

Okay, I googled that 2017 thing, and that`s what came up:

"The allegations against the PE and maths teacher came to light after a woman contacted police in 2017 alleging Tattersall r*** her in a cupboard after she had been asked to put some sports equipment away.

He was cleared of r***, but found guilty of attempted r*** in relation to that accusation.

He also sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions in the cupboard and at his home, his trial heard.

A number of other females came forward with allegations following a police appeal."

So it wasn`t public in the news, but after the first claim the police probably asked around his ex-students, and that could be the way how the other cases started.

He could easily keep the whole story as a secret until the very last moment when he`s been sentenced and it came up to the news.
