Tempted to try my first club experience but finding the confidence to go alone for the first time is nerve wracking any advice?

three words....

just.... be..... yourself!

I always tell new people who go to clubs the most nervous bit is walking thru the front door..... after that, you will be fine!

most good clubs will point you in the direction of good people to natter with.... and most will understand that we all use to be new once

I don't get people who ask for "hand holders"... best way to think about it is any weekend night out in a city centre.... just go out and have a good laugh!!

First time??? May be you need someone you know from here to go with you for your first step

You are lucky there are some clubs not too far from you i.e LC in sheffield

Advertise here that you are looking for someone to go with and pick the right one

we were nervous when we first went but luckily we went with a couple who showed us the ropes etc, enjoy yourself and relax

We've been to a couple of clubs and find everyone very friendly and respectful. So respectful that you have to assert yourself to get anywhere. You need to go with an idea of what you want and be confident enough to approach people. Might be a good idea to go in with someone more experienced.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you. I've met some great people from here but have often thought about trying out a club. Am just a bit nervous/shy about going on my own.

I'm sure that once you're there and that you're open and friendly then you will have a great time x

see.. this is what I don't get...

if you are adult enough to be on a site like this.... and adult enough to be able to go to meets without the need for an escort.... then surely you are adult enough to go to a club and to mix with other people by yourselves???

maybe it is just me... but I wouldn't behave any differently in a swinging club, than I would on any other night out... and maybe that is the key....

Believe or not first time we went to a club we kacking our pants, must have phoned the owners about 5 times with numerous questions. We also emailed one of the regulars with a ton of questions too.

The key for us was that we spent a long time researching on line which club sounded the best for us. That really helped. From 5 minutes after we had come through the door, we felt like regulars to be honest.

Sounds to us Like Club F in Stanley would be great for you, give Sue a ring and speak to her about your concerns.

La Chambre is good too, as someone else suggested you could go with them on a Friday, but the single men there are a little rude, which is a shame.

I get what you're saying, but I am with the OP on this. I have been to clubs with FB's and have been toying with the idea of going alone but I am a bit nervous about it. Think for me it's that I want to have some fun alone, but I'm not the best at picking up on when someone is interested as opposed to being friendly. This has a downside for two reasons...one I don't want to give someone the impression I'm interested because I'm chatting, and two I don't want someone to think I'm not interested because I am just chatting and not inviting them to play!

Also, there are the guys that will follow around and assume that because I am in a club on my own I am open to any offers I get! I know not all guys are like that, but some are and it can feel a bit intimidating.I will work up the balls at some point, but I think that when I am not playing I'll be staying in view of staff just in case I need rescuing! x

Seriously? You can't think of a reason why a single female would rather go with a mate than on her own??!!

As goldicocks put it so well.... It's the single pushy blokes that puts me off. At least there's safety in numbers. With a mate it's easier to walk away. The thought of leery blokes following me around a club ..... Offputting to say the least.

Yes they may take 'no' for an answer and not touch you. But the looks, the body language, the following..... Horrible.

My best advice would be to go when someone from here is organising a social or party in a club. Also chat to some of the regulars in Northern Chat there is usually something happening every weekend at either No3 or Partners. You dont have to play either just chat, get to know people. There are plenty of couples who would be more than happy to show you round either club

we have always thought that when going to somewhere u have never been before feels the same as tryin ur very 1st club ever xxx, socials in the clubs are always a good idea as it usually a more easy going night at the club xxx hope ur 1st visit to somewhere is a great ecperience for u x

It will our first time at a club this friday at Xtasia, in fact this will be our first ever 'meet'. We know how the OP feels as we are nervous as hell, and are trying to find other people that are going on the same night, so we can hook up.
