What licence from the local authority (if any) does a swingers club require?

Example of a private members swingers club that serves alcohol and plays music. Does a swingers club class as a ‘sexual entertainment venue’ requiring a licence relating to that or does it merely have a ‘normal’ alcohol/entertainment licence?

Oh and ‘argument’ is a bit strong lol

Definitely need more than one license, just to sell prepared food you need one alcohol needs another and music needs another so a club would need many licenses to operate

Lots of them!

Townhouse Twosome have posted in plenty of prior threads the licensing involved in running a club - but it is down to the councils too

If there’s a bar, than the usual alcohol licence is needed, then there’s your usual health & safety stuff, music licences, adult entertainment licences etc.

I think having a hot tub & sauna area requires something too, possibly an environmental health licence?

Sex Entertainment Venue licenses are a current bone of contention. They are not a compulsory requirement and it is down to the local authority whether they require it or not. However, it has been found in law that clubs like ours do not require this licence at all now and councils shouldn't be enforcing it. This may change, but that is the current situation.

If the club want to sell alcohol, hot drinks after 11pm, hot food, play adult content on TV's, play recorded music, allow live performances etc... then licences are required.

Some councils are stricter than others. Manchester and surrounding councils tend not to be as strict, hence why there are so many clubs in those areas. Other councils are super strict, like ours, hence why there is only one for miles. Some councils won't allow swingers clubs at all.

So to answer your question, it varies. Some councils are relaxed and all you need is approval to open the venue and then additional licenses for alcohol if you want to sell it.

It's a bit of a minefield and there's much more to it, but that's not something I would share on this thread xx

Any venue, vanilla or otherwise that serves alcohol needs the appropriate alcohol and entertainment licence.

Food prepared, cooked and served on any business premises needs a good hygiene inspection.

Music on the premises need a PRS and PPL licence.

As for the venue being a sex club, not 100% sure on this. But, we have been informed that a health/spa type planning application or similar can be put forward for wet clubs, but it is at the council's call as to what is. permitted. Like I mentioned, not 100% on the club side, but the above music/entertainment is fairly accurate.
