Had the worst experience of our lives in that place. Ignorant, arrogant and imbecilic owner who threw us out because my wife did not want to walk in bare feet and asked (nicely) if she could wear flip flops. Travelling from Manchester and meeting such an ignorant, stuck up bitch of an owner I would hope dearly that the place goes bust and is taken over by a normal human being.

Either take a friend or go later in the evening by yourself or accompanied.

I was going to go with a male friend who been there before afew times. He said its the weekends it gets crazy so we decided a weekday as I work weekends. We live pretty far so needed to book a hotel. Trying to work out if there's any clubs I could visit just for the day in the south east.

In the south east there are not a lot of options unfortunately. BGHS is not a club, there is strictly no sexual acts other than in the rest rooms. If you are after legitimate clubs you would likely be looking at London or Kent.

BGHS is a marmite venue. It provokes very strong reactions from some people who perhaps did not follow the clearly stated rules and fell foul of the staff.

Patrons need to understand it’s a naturist club which allows sexual activities in the upper floor rooms but nowhere else. This is not a complicated concept and you can understand why they don’t want body fluids in their pools or steam rooms. If they allowed this , the management would need to crank up the disinfectant levels killing the relaxed ambience in the spa.

I’m all in favour of the strict approach the staff adopt. They maintain very high standards.

I have had several glorious experiences here. The people who do attend, who can exercise some self control and follow the rules are generally worth meeting. Let’s hope BGHS survives this crisis and reopens.

Personally, I think it’s the cleanest most hygienic venue in the UK with fabulous facilities.

Us too. Suzie was groped by a guy in the jacuzzi, thought her collar gave him the right to slip his finger up her. I told him to stop, then pushed him away after several warnings. He went bleating to the manager who threw us out after being there half an hour, kept our £30 of course! In the course of which she said he came there two or three times a week.... they obviously liked his money.

We'd agree with previous post, ignorant, stuck up bitch of an owner who had it handed to her by her dad, a gentleman.

There's definitely a lot of comments on the manager being rude and abrupt, can't say I had any dealings with her on my visit, a nice young lady showed me around and I had no problems. As long as you obey the rules, which they will explain to you as they give you a tour on your first visit, you should have no problems.

You will only get issues if you break the rules and make lots noise. Bghs is first and foremost a naturist spa and should be treated as such.

This is what I meant. If you go during the day, you are very likely to be the only female there. The demographics when I’ve been there is mostly men who I am not attracted to or have no interest to socialise or interact with. I still enjoyed the facilities, but the following gets tedious after a while and is somewhat intimidating, though there is always, always staff walking around so I felt reassured.

I’ve been with a male friend twice in the late afternoon for a very short while and there are more couples and the atmosphere is much more relaxed. I’ve been told it is great on weekend evenings. I still have to see for myself. Hopefully soon...

As others have said it's a naturist spa which allows sexual activity in the rest rooms only.

We've been loads and have only positive memories.

Single women are encouraged at any time, if you encounter any problems a word with the staff gets a swift response with the offending person being given a stern talking to, then promptly kicked out if they can't understand.

On weekends, if you arrive as a mixed sex couple, you can stay until closing but otherwise all singles have to leave at 6pm.

We have seen people getting the worst of the owner. In our experience every time that happened it was fully justified and the people had failed to follow the very simple rules.

Don't believe the negative reviews, it's strange how they tend to appear just after someone ignores the rules and gets turfed out.

As someone said, it's a bit marmite, if you want a relaxing spa with no clothes on and you can follow a few simple rules you'll love it. If you want a sex club go to Liberations which hold a monthly party in Brighton.

Missing BGHS loads too. Never had any reason to fall foul of the rules of the place so always enjoyed my visits. Attended alone during the week and been happy to just be naked and read after utalising the clubs spa facilities. Also attended as a couple during the week and at the weekend and experienced the joys of the mirror room with my then partner, being watched and joining in with others.

Looking forward to returning, once open again, the massage, although painful at the time is certainly needed and highly recommended.

Bghs is great fun and relaxing and I've had so many adventures there.

It got ruined by the shuffling zombies that lurk in the hallways of the restrooms and hang around in the downstairs area, following (but never having the social confidence to interact with) any female or couple in the place.

We love BGHS. Well worth the 1.5hr drive to get there.

The rules are fine, we have never fallen foul of them. We actually think it is good to have no play areas, where you can just relax without being hassled.

On another note we are seeing on other threads that some spas and swimming pools are opening on 4th July. Apparently chlorine isn't very friendly to viruses!

Anybody know if BGHS will be opening?

Saturday and Sunday from 5.30pm are couples only and BGHS is not like a swinging club in that they admit single females. You have to be in a couple.

Friday nights are pretty good, we’ve been quite a few time’s. Obviously there tends to be more men than females / couples but all very respectful. It’s a great place for socialising too as you aren’t allowed to play anywhere other than the rest rooms so no pressure when you’re in the spa or lounges etc.

It's not a club, it's a naturist spa. So if you're not keen on being a naturist then probably not the best choice.

It's not a club, it's a naturist spa. So if you're not keen on being a naturist then probably not the best choice. "

Hey one and all!

We have been overwhelmed with such lovely emails and messages of support from you all and I can honestly say that has kept us all going through these crazy times.

Understandably, with rules relaxing we have had a lot of messages asking whether we will be amongst those businesses opening on 4th July. I am as keen as everyone else to get our doors back open and welcome you all back to BGHS, so you can see everything we’ve been doing during lockdown but Spas and swimming pools are still in the category “close contact businesses” and they have not been given permission to open in any setting.

“But spa hotels, gyms and holiday/camping complexes are opening” I hear you say. Well… yes, they are but if you look at the small print, the spa facilities and swimming pools within them are not. A lot of them are keeping that bit a little quieter in their announcements.

“What about if social distancing is in place?” There really are no exceptions to the rule, trust me I have read for hours on this subject. You can’t just limit numbers and say social distancing rules apply in this sector due to its nature. It is illegal to open them. The government rules specifically state that for now, spa facilities and pools have to stay shut, at least until the next phase.

I do sympathise with those that are desperate to open during their busy months but please be very wary of any business that is opening these facilities on the 4th July. They either haven’t understood the rules and dangers or are disregarding them for their own benefit and risking your health. Our advice would be avoid those that don’t seem to understand and question what’s available before you go.

The one thing we have said all along as a family and as responsible spa owners is that the health and safety of our staff and customers will always come before profit. We are actively following the many detailed regulations, announced almost daily, in order for us to be ready and we will open again (hopefully soon) but ONLY when it is safe to do so.

Please stay safe and we will all be together again soon.

I’ve been a number of times and always see it as a very good value way of enjoying Spa facilities. You’d pay more than that at a hotel spa.

It also has the added bonus of everyone being naked, and occasionally there might be something going on in the rest rooms.

The times I have seen single ladies in there they tend to get a following so expect to have a few guys in the same sauna etc with you. However never seen anyone trying it on with them.

Hello everyone.

Again, thank you so much for all your support. The emails and messages keep coming and they really do cheer us up and keep us going!

We miss you all so much, in so many ways and can’t wait to open again!!

Since I last wrote the government announced that spa pools and swimming pools can open from the 25th July but in the small print they have asked all saunas and steam rooms to remain closed for now.

The family have discussed this in detail and concluded that until they at least include saunas in that list we don’t feel it would be right to open.

As I’ve said before the scientific advice the government has given alongside talking to the industry professionals has deemed swimming pools and spa pools safe enough to open with measures in place. They have yet to conclude one way or another on the risk of transmission in saunas which is why no announcement has been made. It is highly likely that the amount of people effected by swimming pool closures is greater than saunas and so they have gone down this route first before they give more time to the rest of the industry. It is not advisable to where a mask in a sauna and because of the sweating, that is a natural side effect of sitting in a hot room, it is an area that needs special investigation even though it looks like the virus would struggle to survive in the heat. We agree however, it’s best to wait for more solid evidence. As I said before, the safety of staff and customers is our priority so until they say it’s ok to go and give us guidance on what we need to do, we are going to remain closed.

I can not tell you how many articles and papers I’ve read on this as I look everyday for a nugget of news from lots of sources. I don’t think it is right for me to give my personal opinion on this matter as I am not a scientist and haven’t got access to all the information and statistics that the government has. However, I would not be surprised if they separate saunas and steam rooms and open the former in upcoming announcements. There is a bizarre logic and contradictory evidence in some of the things you are allowed to do and some you aren’t but I’m not privy to all the stats.

What has been raised more and more recently is how undervalued Spas have been in providing physical and mental benefits to those that use them. We have always known how important your escape to BGHS is and the health benefits you get from visiting us are vast. Something that has been very much highlighted in the emails you have sent us.

Now more than ever we all need to focus on rebuilding ourselves after such a difficult time. As soon as we can open we will help you do this, as I know you will help us. Whether it be connecting again or taking some "me" time. We will be here for you.

As yet I can’t give you anymore detail on what life at BGHS will be like during the next phase as the guidance is ever evolving. Whatever changes we may have to temporarily make will be so we can provide the best facilities to everyone.

I will let you know when I have more news but for now, I just want to say once again….

We miss you but we will be back and hopefully, see you soon!

Not really. The business model is concentrating on getting the spa aspects open. Rest rooms are not going to be covid safe until after a vaccine so they're probably not even thinking about them.

Hello everyone

I have been visiting BGHS spa for many many years and love the place. The rules are fair and the owners stick to them which is not common practice at other venues.

Over the years I have seen many single females relaxing at the spa without a worry. But it only takes one THIRSTY man to spoil their experience and make them feel uncomfortable. And it is easy to pass that experience on to other females via forums and socials. I truly believe BGHS is the safe spa for a female to attend alone but a “no thank you” to a male and he should get the message. In addition the managers and staff are brilliant at noticing unacceptability behaviour.

I have never been to the spa and it has been manic, there is always space to chill and relax. From my experience it is usually quieter when big sporting events are on but busier closer to and around pay day.

To the singles guys who go, please go to relax it is a spa first and for most. Don’t be thirsty and you will probably have a nice time.

If they hate swingers, then why do they allow play in the ‘relaxing rooms’? They are aware some patrons go there looking for play and provide this facility, so that the spa areas can be safe for all to use. I’m not naive, but who wants to sit in water contaminated with male and female cum?

If you don’t like it, go somewhere else and let the true naturist use it.

I dont think they hate swingers at all but their business is a spa not a swingers club and their rules should be respected. Some people can seperate the two to be honest.

BGHS is a wonderful place to go and relax. The spa is amazing and there are places for you to have sex if that is your main objective when going there.
