hey everyone!

i set up my webcam, installed drivers, searched the internet with hardware ID's and updated drivers again, tried chrome, updated flash, updated my browser

and it still only seems to work in old chat

the webcam appears, says usb 2.0 camera (which is what the device is)

and the little preview box where you select it on settings shows a picture

however when i click close its just a white screen

i dont have this problem in old chat though

any one know whats missing?

thanks!

Do you mean the box on the Chat page, titled "Your Cam" with the "Hide/Show Cam" and "Start/Stop Audio" buttons?

"however when i click close its just a white screen"

What "close" are you clicking? With your cam showing in the "Your Cam" window, just enter a chat room.

as i have discovered myself, if you are using google chrome and are having this issue, you could resolve the issue very simply.

if, as in my case there are two versions of flash active they could be conlicting and compromisig the webcam.

as google chrome automatically downloads you may not be aware of this. then you need to isolate and disable the older verson.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
do this by clicking on the tool symbol, opening the settings tab.
scroll to the bottom and show the advanced settings.
on the privacy settings go to content settings and head for the plugins section
click - disable individual plugins
settings
check there is only one flash pluin on the list. if there is two enabled, disable the older one
this is only one solution to a specific problem but this worked for me. my cam works fine now. hope this helps someone xx
