webcams issues

I decided to get a new webcam which supported windows 7.

as i thought maybe my cam was too old for here yesterday was no changed the cam went on and off on and off

i tried using IE8 and Chrome and they was both the same. YET i used my laptop with built in webcam and no problems the cam is on all the time.

can anyone help or suggest any help as its now pissing me off

When you say the cam went "on and off" what do you mean? Do you mean it stopped working in the "your cam" bit at top right of chat, or you lost your cam icon in userlist?

(or something else)?

Both si, yet people who are viewing me can still see me long as they haven't clicked off

the cam will go on and off and the cam icon will show and then disappear. i was in the Midlands room most of yesterday and it proved it many times. when i went on the laptop about 5ish no problem with the cam at all

had this problem with a lifecam,my solution was not to install any of the aps to go with the cam,likenot having a shortcut on the desktop etc,but just to run it as an unknown usb device,just install the driver,took me a few tries,but now the cam works fine,wn7 is a bugger for cams and certain sites,give it a try and let me know if it works

hmmm what make is the cam,and have you set the resolution on the cam,sometimes that can interfere with the cam working

dam,ok uninstall everything to do with your cam,even from the reg and reinstall,from the website for your cam,dont install vdriver,as that will change resolution to what they want

I have noticed this seems to be happening to a few people in chat. They will loose the cam icon yet there cam still stays on. So existing viewers can still see the cam but to everybody else in chat it looks like the cam off.

my cam works in old chatroom but not in new ones,i tried installing google chrome which automatically updates the adeobe flash but still no joy,pls,anyone got any ideas. the cam is a usb device.

I'm having the same issues. Cam works fine in the old chatroom but just nothink in the new. Have done what i can via updates and installing things. Just doesn't seem to display in the settings panel

any fix or advice to make it work?

Mine does this loads - but randomly - sometimes withih 5 minutes, sometimes not for an hour
