Cam not working in chrome?

If your cam isn't working in chrome try this:

chrome://flags/#prefer-html-over-flash

There's a drop down which says "prefer html over flash". Set this to "disabled"

Flash should then be picked up and you can use your cam in chat

You need to close and re-open chrome for it to take effect

There's more info here:

How about if using Safari on a Macbook?! I am getting the same message as everyone else about viewing cams without flash, I have updated flash and can't see that it is disabled in a anyway but I'm a relative novice when it comes to a mac - any help appreciated!

Sorted, top left hand corner of edge is an icon that looks like a jigsaw piece. Click on this and it gives you an option to continue using flash.

quick bump if you use chrome..

SOLUTION:

On Google Chrome If you do not get the means to use your camera when you go into CHAT please try the following. Open Chat as usual. On the address line at the top there should be an i inside a circle on the left hand side. Click on it and a drop down menu should appear. Most, except pop ups should be on allow or ask. Go to flash click on the arrow then ‘Always allow on this site’. Close list and at the top click reload button. All should work. It also works for me on Fab Guys. That should work until you leave the site but may have to do the same next time. Hope this is of assistance.

Thanks Truro for this "

With the greatest of respect... this is a bit of a bad fix. It forces your install of Chrome to use Flash instead of HTML on every site, not just Fab. That's not a great solution, flash is insecure generally compared to HTML5 and many websites are optimised for HTML now.

This is, to be fair, a case of Fab sticking with old, insecure tech and asking you to force your browser to always use old, insecure tech, rather than fixing their site and updating it to HTML5. Which, incidentally, would probably make all the problems with it working on mobile/tablets go away too.

It's a big job, no doubt... but we pay for it, so it should be done. Otherwise, people will start moving to other sites which use modern tech better.

You're right this is an interim solution.

I have tried the fix above and any others I could find or think of. Cannot access cam, it looks from settings as if the webcam can't be found? Tested on another site and didn't have any issues. Any help appreciated.

I can't find that override html flag in chrome.

Tried reinstalling flash because flash isn't finding the camera and no luck there either.

So currently no solution. Adobe are useless.

So currently flash seems to work but it broadcasts a white screen in chat (say for a lot of people) but no camera or microphone in the flash settings.

I tried rolling back the windows update but that didn't help either.

Closing because people are posting misleading/unhelpful advice.

TO clarify, use google chrome and copy/paste this into the web address bar:

chrome://flags/#prefer-html-over-flash

Set that flag to "disable" and reload chrome and flash will work again

In the longer-run like the rest of the internet, we'll be moving away from flash for cam broadcast.
