Switch off near me Android app

I installed the Android app because the browser has issues connecting.

Each browser I try says site cannot provide secure connection. Though it tends to connect at less busy times.

The app turned near me on automatically. I put a vpn on, removed permission for location access in settings and hid my profile. How do I switch the function off?

A VPN will make no difference to "near me". If you've removed location permission it shouldn't be able to tell your current location, but I've heard it said that the web app remembers where you last were when you turned it off, so it's possible that the Android app is the same.

Its a pain. I've not had a load of people view me from my postcode so I guess it's off
