I'm having this same issue unable to receive any sound in the chat rooms I'm using a mobile phone I'm able to receive sound via other means away from this site please assist and thanks in advance

I'm misunderstanding what you exactly mean.

Are you trying to say that sound isn't available on mobile phones for chat rooms

Yes that is what i am saying. You need full flash for sound so the only way to hear sound would be to use something like puffin to emulate it.

For the laptop issue, try plugging in a microphone and see if that works

I'm no technician but re sound for chat rooms from a laptop

Have you checked that the mic settings are set up correctly or try a diagnostics should have a feature for this on your laptop hope my information helps x
