Has anyone got any advice or possible campsites to stay while completing the NC 500. We are planning to complete the route over a 18 day period in our motorhome, commencing 2nd week in May 20. We will have our chameleon sticker in the window, so we can be easily identified.

The North Coast 500 is great and try to go to the west coast every fortnight during the summer with our caravan. Good sites are Sands at Gairloch, Clachtoll, Scourie and Durness. Durness is busy but most will go to Smoo caves and trip out to the lighthouse. The drive up Bealach na ba is great. Not stayed at Applecross because harder to get to with a caravan but is popular with camper vans. Anything else you want to know just send me a mail.

18 days is a long time on the NC500, you should be able to see absolutely loads of things. It's worth a detour onto Sky if you have that long.

We tend to stay out of campsites if we can, have you got the Park4night app? It lists all sorts of places you can stay along the way. There is a lovely campsite in Ullapool on the Ardmair peninsula, that's worth a stay but there are loads of spectacular places waterside you can stay for free

We're hoping to get up there again in the next couple of weeks

Make sure you're prepared for midgies!

We headed that way in our van last summer but after the midgies chased us off Skye we opted to go island hopping across to Arran instead.

There's an amazing beach at Mellon Udrigle with a campsite next to the beach if you do the NC500 though.
