But I only have my estate car...

I bought the car for this reason plus carrying out my mountain bike... Occasionally

I haven't done this yet but need that push to do so..any help guidance would be so helpful

I thought it would be easy to find a secluded place to park up for the night, but the more I think about it, the more worried about finding a spot I get ..lol

Come to the west of Ireland. It's remote and beautiful. There are lots of discreet hillsides and beaches. Unlike in the UK all land above a certain elevation is commonage, so accessible to all.

Im into hiking long distance with a tent. Usually carry enough food for a couple of days then camp at a pub or restock. nothing beats wild camping, getting your water from the nearest stream having a nip of something strong and taking in the sight of the milky way - which you cant see under city lights.

FYI. Offas Dyke in April is great - the woodlands are bathed in bluebells. plenty of wild camping spots off trail where you could do photo shoots or have fun

The Pennine Way in late August or early September when the heather is out. lots of camping spots en-route and pubs.

Corralejo, Fuerteventura.

Wild camping to us is pulling in to a layby in the early evening, sleeping in the motorhome overnight and moving away the next day, leaving only tyre tracks and no rubbish.

Prefer laybys with strap of ground between you and the main road, van doesn't sway then when lorries pass during the night.

We wild camp all the time.

At the moment we are in a free public carpark in the middle of town. Public loo to empty the cassette and garage a couple of miles away to top up the water.

Just not interested in paying £30 a night.

We will be at jaydees camping weekend. Really looking forward to it and hope to chat with other campers.

What sort of site are you after? I had a fantastic night on a Brownwich Beach, Titchfield, Hants. It has a nice little grassy area next to a fresh water pool at the back of the beach. The one downside is that the pool seems to be the wild swimming spot for half the local dogs so you do get a lot of dog walkers passing and chatting but nobody cared I was bivvying there.

I recently came back from cycling to Devon, had a 70l rucksack on my back, and a smaller backpack strapped to the back of my bicycle. Made about 30 miles a day day. Wild camp here there and everywhere, then when I got two Wilshere started doing about 5 miles a day, visiting natural Heritage sites, castles moats, battlegrounds, places of historical significance. Travelled through about 6 or 7 counties it was great fun just me my Tibetan singing bowl. My tent and sleeping bag and a assortment of essentials 600 miles in total. Wild camping is awesome.

Any locations round Yorkshire and the North. I’m back from work in Oct in Leeds/Elland and will be looking for places to stay for 3-4 weeks.

Places with swingers even better.

Over there

Is it "wild" if you're in a van, next to a road?

I'd class it more "buying £30k of camper van, loading with beer and food bought in town, but refusing to support rural businesses".

Meh.

Now, halfway up a mountain having carried your gear in...

When I lived in Aberdeenshire I used to go wild camping on the queens Balmoral estate. I love casually dropping into conversion about 'that time I stayed at Balmoral'

Love wild camping and def recommend it over Campsites for short stays.

Mansfield

Looking at buying a camper in the next year or so, starting to look at places I can use for wild camping and looking at cheaper places to stay, not against paying a camp site, but some of the prices are getting crazy. However if the campsite is quiet and kinda in the middle of nowhere it will be of interest.

If anyone has any tips or web pages I can look at for ideas please let me know

Accrington

Try a canal boat ahead of a camper van, no fees when moored on the canal side, isolation from roads yet fun of dogging on a tow-path if that’s your thing.

"I enjoy wild camping, often with hammock and tarp or tent.

Dartmoor or Brecon Beacons are easiest for me. Anyone interested? "

This is what I call wild camping. Not rocking up in a decked out van etc. Nothing better than setting your fire and rocking in hammock. Temperature on way down good bag and under blanket time

Recommend Search for Sites + Park for Night. I've added about 15 sites of remote (ish) places I've come across.... A few of the ones listed as being a dogging site aren't really... they just have people park as a place to get away and have a cheeky smoke.
