Caravan and Motorhome Membership. Worth it ?

Hi guys.

We had our caravan sited on a seasonal pitch until recently. We’re now touring it more. A lot of the sites shown on UK Campsite website specify members only. The small independent sites we’ve stayed at so far this year have been really nice. We don’t need swimming pool and club facilities, just a quiet site for us two and the dog.

Are we missing out on membership of the club or is it a waste of £52 a year ?

Thank you in advance.

S&S (From a lovely site by a canal in mid-Lancashire.) x

We are members of the other club. We pay with age discount £42 per year. We have just stayed at one of the sites in the lake district it was close on £29 per night. Earlier this month we stayed at one the temporary holiday site that did have shower and toilets on a racecourse for £8 pn. I guess you need to look at what you need and how much you a prepared to pay for what you get.

Search for sites is a website that you can get on a app. Basically it takes your location and tells you where your nearest site, pub, layby is. It's funded by advertising that's why the above may have mentioned insurance companies that deal with motorhomes

Search for sites in our view is the best website regarding campsites it also covers public houses car parks that allow overnight stopping. There's also a review of the places written by people who have stayed

wherever i need to be

I’m a member of the other one and I made back my membership in one stay. Really depends how often you use it but you often find that members get preferential rates on pitches.

I like the magazines. Always something of interest to read and ideas on where to visit. Never found any real benefit on costs of ferries, insurance or deals abroad though.

Newport, South Wales.

Wild Camping is our way to do it, Laybys and side streets, one night here and there, saved a fortune over the years.

Camp sites are for empting the toilet and charging the batteries, most garages will let you fill your water tank.

We like the caravan and motorhome club sites as you know the standards and on site rules are consistent etc.

The sites without toilet blokes are much more popular with adults only and also much quieter.

With some research there are also some really good certificated locations, only available to C&MHC members only.

So we find membership worthwhile.

We are members of caravan motorhome

Find most their sites more expensive than commercial sites but cl are good

Just renewed breakdown insurance found green flag £16 cheaper than clubs mayday and they include home start

The club must be earning lots

we do commercial sites as we prefer to have some on site facilities, bar/pool/restaurant and shop, and also book long weekends and have never paid anything over £10 a night with electric

£10 a night ? Really ?

We’ve been on quiet sites, no bothered about a bar as we’ve usually got the dog with us and we’re generally paying £20 plus a night, with hook-up and toilet facilities.
