Thinking of taking the van over to Cap but unsure of what to expect!

Dont want to waste the trip by not booking correctly so any advice of how and what to book (is there only one campsite? Is there better sections to book?)

Any advice for first timers??

Never taken the van abroad either so its all new!!

Thinking of a 2 week trip with stop off in

Camping libertin la Roseraie on way through ...good idea or totally out of the way?

Any and all advice very welcome !!

There is only one campsite (René Oltra) in the naturist village.

It's a long, long drive. Are you sure that you can make it with only one stop?

No possibly not! Anywhere you'd recommend preferably adult only/naturist but doesn't need to be.

Looking at the tunnel for crossing and then seems to be 3 options going south to Cap - any advice?

We stayed at Euronat last year for a few days on way back up along to the ferry and it was fab. However nothing like Cap. lol.

I think the French tend to feel that anywhere north of Paris is in the arctic, and hence much to cold for sunbathing. So you're probably going to have to find somewhere vanilla to stop until you get there.

Beyond that for swingers, there's La Roseraie, which we've never been to, Diamont Noir which is typical French campsite in the woods with a swimming pool and nightclub, and Ran du Chabrier which is more back to nature - no pool, just a river.

The last two are also not exactly close to any main roads, so not great for overnight stops.

There's also Terre de Soleil, but that's 15 minutes from CdA, so not much use on the way.

Google "France Camping Libertin".

We also stopped at a naturist b&b once which was fun!

Traveld through France for 40 years as a truck driver there's lots ov places to stay with a motorhome ur more welcome in France than England its a grate place to travell to

Depends on ferry route and times, we made 4 stops from Cherbourg but could have been 3 if we were in a hurry although we didn't use toll roads and explored a bit

We have been doing cap every year since 2018 in our motorhome we generally do it with one stop using the main routes and staying at campcar site each way it’s all about planning early crossing and getting as far down as you can 1st day leaving a reasonable run in the 2nd day

We have also done the “take your time” route down it all depends on how much time you have available.

We look at the time we have in cap as our holiday so tend to rush there 😀

As a Cap regular, my journey down from Birmingham is to Calais, a hotel overnight, then Helio Monde, just off the A10,south west of Paris ( naturist campsite), then Creuse Nature near Montlucon (naturist campsite) about 25 minutes off the A71. Then a 5 hour drive with stops in a car to Cap arriving about 2pm. As of June 2025 Helio Monde seems to be reducing the number of pitches available when I stayed there over a weekend. I tend to spend a couple of nights at least at Creuse. As I say both are naturist with great facilities but not swingers sites unless anyone knows differently.

I normally leave Norwich Friday at 5pm catch the 10.00 dover calais dont use motorways so out to rouen la mans then cut over to clearmont ferrand and down the A75 to the south ..usually drive through the night till 5am gets me just short of la mans leave lunchtime and arrive in the cap or close to about 10 pm .it's a hard drive but saves you €300 on return trip need to set sat nav to avoid tolls enjoy your trip it's well worth it ..there's also a really nice naturist site 20 k at seringnan plage

There is a campsite next to the Nudist Beach which is an easy walk over , it's called Beach Gardens , basically out through the gates and kit off , love it

We've travelled in our motorhome the last three years to Cap but we make a 6, 7, or 8 week holiday out of it. For example ferry from Calais 8.30am, then drive to a chosen destination IE brugge, black forest, Rouen South of Paris etc . We love visiting cities and the countryside, also vineyards where you can stay overnight for free.

Then to Cap for two weeks then back on our travels towards Calais and home to north east England

Whenever we have been to Cap we have always done it in one hit, driving through the night on the way there, but often through a full day on the way home.

Night is dead time as far as we are concerned and the lack of traffic makes it painless, especially if you have an electronic toll tag so you can split driving, allowing the other to sleep.

Doing this gives us a full day in Cap, even if you can't check into the camping until later in the day.

The point being that the toll payment machine is on the passenger side for a UK vehicle, so if you don't have a tag, you need to wake your passenger up at each roll booth.

We drive down in our van stopping on the way but stay in an apartment when we get there as there is more space for fun lol.

Plenty of people for stay on the campsite but think you need to book quite a bit in advance.

Waze is your friend for routes and speed traps, most A roads have cameras, some nice camping sites just outside marseillan plage this beach is the Naturist beach for Cap. We book apartments in Agde always reasonable and well priced.

yes tolls for motorhomes are more expensive they go by weight and height if you have a very large one it can be class 4 or 5 cat is class 2 camper class 3 half as much motorhome class 4 double
