You hear all the things about pineapples, flamingos & papas grass etc but how real are they when it comes to camping motorhoming etc? We have been going away in a motorhome now for a few years and never seen a single pineapple or flamingo (except for when we stayed at a place called pineapple lane and they had no idea about the connotations until I mentioned it) we would love to meet people when we go on our adventure but it seems impossible as locals don’t want people who are doing flying visits and motorhome goers seem to not be as open as was hoped.

Any advice?

We have a nice pink flamingo bottle opener which we usually leave on a table outside the motorhome if on a campsite. But even if someone mentions it we are never sure if they are in the scene or not, so usually we might say something like "Yeah, it is a FAB little item" to gauge the response. Usually a blank look so either we are dead ugly or they are not on Fabs.

Mind, at Cap D'agde on the campsite you see caravans, tents and motorhomes festooned with flamingos, pineapples and any other symbols you can think of.

Hi folks.

I’m a Motorhomer, also a naturist.

Naturist sites are fantastic, however hanky panky is very very rare.

I’m based in the North West but travel the country.

Maybe when the weather improves we should have a Fab get together

Cheltenham and Ashby

I once had a nock ron the van door by a fellow camper, he explained that they’d just bought there motorhome and was having issues. “Could I come and take a look”? His cute partner made tea while I looked at the boiler/hot water, couldn’t fix but could direct them to the fault and parts they needed.

I was so taken back when they said they were “swingers” and in a site called “fab” I was speechless. Told them how fascinating ,asked a few questions and waved to them when they left the lay-by.

If you reading this, hello and sorry for being a bit rubbish but I am in a relationship and we only play together and o was taken back a bit. Soz

I'm currently on a campsite in southern Ireland. The French couple in the camper next to my wee tent are sporting a pair of Flamingos. But no amount of flirting is working, and I'm unable to say easily "Je suis un fabber. Fancy un troisieme?" In a clear enough way....

Years ago we were in a large group of swingers based around Manchester way. The leading lady in this group was called Vix, her fame spread far and wide as she was beautiful and sexy, so if we were unsure if someone in the same hotel, for instance, was in the scene, the question would be "Are you a friend of Vix?"

We offer go out in our camper and we always do whos near and arrange from that, we went to a lovely little site a few weeks back and yes we had fun. A few weeks before that we went on a naturist site which was option if wanted to get naked or not and again we had some fun.

There was a site in Barmouth not sure if it's still open but I'm trying to find out.

Has for pineapples etc too many people know about these so you don't know if am into swinging, best off when out and about doing whos near good look everyone x

It's a pity there isn't a secret way of letting others know your alternate way of life, that could remain known only to others of this ilk. We're going away in our caravan for half term, stopping just outside York. Usually, if we're stopping somewhere we go on Fab to meet up with someone. But it would be nice to meet up with like minded folk, if nothing else just to have a chat. We don't mind if it's couples or single males, just want to have some fun and maybe some sexy fun along the way. Might go out and buy some Fab lollies to hand out as well

Might go out and buy some Fab lollies to hand out as well "

We're just outside York too xx

Crikey we did the whole NC500 and couldn't find a thing... Even in Edinburgh. Gave up in the end. One 'come round ours' by a couple but we were one night there and wanted to at least go out for a bit before fun so politely declined... We often travel in our van so we tend to look at the club scene where we're going now, see what we can find that way.

Any suggestions appreciated... Or sites. Cheers

How would you feel if you were approached by a single guy? They spot your sign and suggest to you they are on Fab? They would not know your preference (if you have one). I guess it would depend on the guy.....

The first conversation though would not be that detail though and there's no expectation or commitment either way.

I'm planning on future to speak to any pineapple or flamingo decorated vans and just be sociable - while dropping in a question such as "love the pineapple, I need one for my van as well' and see what the response is.

From there you socialise, and there's no expectation

I guess that’s a very good point we wouldn’t mind and would happily have a drink with them but then would make it clear that isn’t our preference.

Head down to Battle near Hastings next year.

There is a campsite called Turn a blind eye.

It is exactly what you are looking for.

Lovely owners who have a profile on here.

We didn’t get a sniff during our 12 day NC500 tour last month (Sept).

It’s so hard and demoralising tbh, makes you want to wrap it all in as a bad job but then you don’t want to to live with the fear of missing out by leaving haha

Not seen any pineapple or flamingos either, hence the question: winter warmers or should I just buy a hot water bottle ?
