First year for ages we haven't been able to get away.

Constant rain and unpredictable weather has just spoilt our second favourite pastime.

I had a campout at kirkby Stephens back in September 2018.

Tent collapsed on me due to strong winds, broke my center ridge pole on my 2 man tent, woke me up at 6am on the Saturday morning. Having been driven to the site, u had to ring my folks to come pick me up. Was lucky as a stronger storm ripped through the day after.

But tent camping is the best, Aside from wild woodland hammock camping.

Surrey

Ha! I was up in Studland the other week and stayed at Studland Summer Camp. Was fully expecting some glorious relaxing sun-time but no. All I got was rain, wind and being too cold to do anything but button up. So much for summer!

weather is truly depressing. I reckon worst summer ever judging by the amount of times I haven't been to the beach this summer.

Buy a palace on wheels then you can go every weekend, come rain or shine.

But they are soooooo expensive.

The cost of a camper van you can have 15 or 20 decent holidays in Greece or similar.

But a camper will get you out 15-20 times per year. Not just the occasional 2 week holiday.

Tarka trail

I got to agree the weather this year has been crap. I have more or less spent 3 months on Portland Dorset. Why you ask yourself. The place has more sunshine here than anywhere else.

And it is going to be busy here over the bank holiday weekend. Any other fabsters here say hi. Ha ha as if. Have a good one folks.

.

We have a self built van conversion. The van is a long wheelbase Iveco daily.

We use ours most weekends. We slow down a bit though the winter though. Definitely worth buying one or converting a van yourself

Edinburgh

We have travelled from Edinburgh to Dorset for 2 weeks every year for the last 10 years as we too still love camping but this year is the first time the weather defeated us and we came home early. Studland Beach is amongst the best beaches anywhere but we only managed about 4 hours in the 11 days we were there and never got any sea swimming done!

It’s messed up a few of my planned weekends. I don’t mind rain but stupidly strong winds and tents…

I've been wanting someone to help me convert a van or get a trailer tent. I have a small car so even putting a trailer tent in I'd need a bigger car.

We've had a few tent weekends this year. Our last was in June up Scotland when weather was great. Our next is Weekend 15th this month, an even better past time tent on the bike. We are off to a motorbike rally. Bikes, bands and beer

We built ours using a long wheel base Iveco daily.

Until my wife became ill over a year ago, we used our camper most weekends. Hopefully we will be able to get away again soon.

It's definitely a cost effective way to have breaks away at short notice
