What van to buy help

I am starting a new job very close to home, about 4 miles. I currently have a diesel car which will give me DPF problems so I want to buy a large petrol van. I cannot decide what to buy as all the large vans (sprinter, movano size) are diesel. Has anyone any suggestions please? At the moment I think a movano with an engine and transmission transplant is the only option.

You could, but if the mot tester spots any sign of interference with the dpf then it's a major fail..

It's possible to solve a dpf and for it to look like it is still in place

If you can find one, how about an old Leyland Sherpa 3.5t with a Rover V8? Used by the Police in the 1980’s and a beast of a van.

Friend runs a dsg T6 and is always complaining of the fuel consumption

Using for the 4 mile commute but also for holidays so will get kitted out a bit

T6 are silly money yo buy as well

So long as you are using it regular to go away in ie once a month you should have no issues with having a dpf providing the engine is running correctly or the filter is not at the end of its life.

Most dpf faults are due to a fault on the engine/management causing the dpf to block or not regenerate and garages failing to diagnose what the fault is so cut them out and map out.

Or get a pre 2006 model

If that's the case Ill keep my car and make sure I give it a good run once a month. I might still buy a van and put a big petrol engine and auto box in it.

Dust particulate filter, it filters out all the solids in the exhaust fumes and then slowly clogs up, then it automatically heats itself up to burn away the solids, that only can happen when the engine is up to temperature and then takes about 15 minutes so you need to be doing a bit of mileage for that all to happen

VW Transporter does a petrol ... albeit medium size van... they maybe able also to do it in a full camper van layout ie petrol van... will cost around £50.000+

Also check mercedes or vauxhall and ask them if they are making petrol Van's in 2020 or 2021 ... maybe very likely.

T4 1.9td (abl) no dpf to worry about and you can run cooking oil no issues!
