Bikes you should never had sold

So what bikes have you owned that you regret selling.

Mine would be 1995 YZF750 in the Champagne Cocktail colours.

Only had it for 8 months then sold it to buy a GSXR K2

Or my first road legal bike the Honda MT50.

To be 16 and struggling to overtake JCBs lol

"F4 EV03"

I remember when the F4s first came out. Another of Tambourinies designs.

The only MV dealer I knew in Scotland was between Perth and Dundee next to the Shell garage.

Is it still there?

"Mmmm my two wee rvf400 and 954 blade. "

RVF 400s have shot up in price. My brother has an NC35 which is a fantastic little bike.

I remember you could get them on grey import from Bat Motorcycles for £1400 back in the early 00's.

Same as the CBR400 with the gullarm.

1980 XS 1100 heavy brute but I loved her.

XJ 650

The only one I really regret selling was a 2000 XJR 1300. I had it for 4 years & clocked up 40k on it from riding to work & around Europe & it never missed a beat... apart from the immobiliser deciding to malfunction, that was removed straight away!

It was battered & scraped but it was an unbelievably comfortable workhorse.

The one we really regret selling was our 1995 Suzuki RG500. Loved that bike but only 25mpg plus 2 stroke oil was just to much at the time. Sold it for £3500 now they are going for £15,000 to £25,000

Three bikes stand out.

A 1994 Fireblade 900. An easy and nice bike.

Second, a 652 mile from new one previous owner Triumph 955 RS Sprint, ( previous owner dropped it on diesel, didn’t claim, was so sick, threw a sheet over it and left it for 10 years)

And my first big bike - ex police BMW K100rt, fell over once in the garage, used a winch onto the roof to right the thing - impossible to lift!

Anyone got a 900 blade needing an engine? So want another!

Was it the Ross White colour scheme. I so wanted one of them.

There is a book about Honda motorcycles, part of it is Taido Baba come up with idea and and concept of the bike.

It was a sideline by Baba and a couple of engineers.

When the released the prototype there were 3 bikes. When the testers put in the feedback the prototypes were cut up and welded to suit until the correct balance was achieved. No wind tunnel testing no computer aided design.

Really good book.

It was a red bike, that someone did a good paint job to make it black.

I’ll look out for book thx. X

I like things like that - working my way through both Porsche 911 story and The life of Ferdinand Porsche.

Anther good book is the John Britten story.

What he achieved from his back garden was truly remarkable.

The Carl Foggarty and Ducati story is also a brilliant read.

I bought an RS as a cheap fast tourerto do one long Eurotrip. It’s still here five years later

My sale though would be my mint 750 Slabside, sold it to a friend of a friend, in two weeks he’d binned it twice in a month it was a battered shitty Matt black fighter.

If i had kept all of my bikes and cars since the 70's i would have needed a hangar to store them... but jeez they would fetch some money today.. so many oldies like me have the same tale i'm sure... some include loads of 70/80 Moto Crossers Suzuki GS 750/ 1000'S RG Strokers Benelli 6.. Lotus Twin cam Cortina.. RS 2000's.. 3 Litre Capri's Porshe 911 Turbo air cooled.. rally Quattro... R32 Skyline.... large storage and a crystal ball would have been great.
