Just back from a run on a BMW K1200S and I've got to say WTF

I've never owned a BMW motorcycle but thing was absolutely awesome for its age.

Seriously considering getting it for commuting to work.

They are amazing bikes, I've never owned one but have ridden a few also plenty of options for the vertically challenges and they are surprisingly nippy on the open road

I owned a couple K1200s over a period of 10 years and I loved them. That bike is so easy to ride and very stable at speed, not admitting anything there but getting older so have now taken on the GS now a very comfortable bike but boy do I miss the acceleration

It was the blackbird I was going to look at it was just coincidence they had the K1200 sitting next to it.

It came in at the same price as the fuel injected bird.

But your right the low end torque is very addictive.

I use a K1300S to commute into central London, it’s not what springs to most minds for a commute bike but with the mirrors tucked in and a little familiarity it gets through tight gaps. That low end torque makes it handy in low speed settings, no need to rev up to get it moving just point it at the gap you’re after & squeeze also for me personally I hate chain maintenance, so the shaft drive is a godsend.

Lovely bike for what it is, I'm a kinda practical girl and maintenance and long term costs is always at the forefront with me when making any purchases, alas the grown up side of my brain is far more dominant than the childish side lol I take calculated risks and do all my sums beforehand, so I'd be going with most universal alternative parts bike lol yep I'm boring hahaha

I had a Blackbird for a few years. Fantastic bike. K1300S surprising good too with the telelever front suspension.

FJR is another good all round bike. Quite quick but not lightning quick.

VFR1200F is a great bike. Very quick, shaft drive. I can get 170ish miles to a tank.

I've had BMWs for over a decade now. I currently have an original R1100 R and 1150GS . They're great bikes, never miss a beat and can cover real distances but fail to maintain and service them at your peril.

I've also always kept additional bikes. Bikes that stir the blood and are exciting to ride. Usually sports bikes that are Japanese in origin.

couldn't agree more, I have a CBR1000F 1989 which is still as modern as it comes, however I recently traded my BMW K1200S in for a VN1500 Meanstreak, such a bad move I'm regretting it still, wish I had my beamer back the fool that I am.
